Chapter 1303: Chapter 1302: Admiration
"Tomorrow we’ll go to Guanghua Road," Qiu Qingqing said.
"Guanghua Road? Is there something there?" Little Bai was a bit confused, "I don’t know this place." He said, pulling out his phone to search for the street.
"What’s so special here? I can’t tell," Little Bai said. Jiang Cheng also saw this street; it seemed like a very ordinary street, but it was said to be the oldest street on North Island. Plenty of tourists frequently come here. But would there be White Flower Stone here? Jiang Cheng looked at Qiu Qingqing, who seemed very sure of herself. He figured she must have her own insights but didn’t say anything further.
After exchanging only a few words, everyone went to sleep. The next morning, Jiang Cheng and the others woke up early, quickly had breakfast, and headed to the street Qiu Qingqing had mentioned.
The street was just as they imagined, very crowded, with people coming and going, and many tourists taking photos here. Although the street is old, it looks quite developed.
"It feels like this place has some history, but it’s developed nicely," Little Bai remarked, looking at the bustling street.
"Yeah, in that case, shouldn’t it be harder for us to find what we’re looking for?" Qin Nan said with a bit of worry.
"Don’t worry, there’s always a way, right!" Little Bai said. Although Little Bai spoke energetically, it didn’t seem to have much effect. Qiu Qingqing was still contemplating her own matters, and Jiang Cheng remained silent. Qin Nan had a skeptical look on his face.
"Let’s walk and look," Jiang Cheng said.
The group walked slowly down the street like this. Of course, Qiu Qingqing continued to be the focus of many people’s attention; many just openly stared at Qiu Qingqing, and quite a few snapped pictures of her. At first, Little Bai wanted to intervene, but eventually, he couldn’t keep up; there were just too many people here, impossible to inform them all.
"Wow, Qingqing’s charm is really something," Little Bai sighed.
But Qiu Qingqing herself remained indifferent as ever, seeming not to care at all about what was happening around her, continuing to walk her own path. Little Bai knew he was bound to be disappointed, so he didn’t say anything more. This place was reportedly preserved for hundreds of years, although it’s called a relic, since the local elders heavily developed it. Many places now look like museums or photo galleries. From outside, the photo gallery seemed crowded, many people waiting to take pictures inside. "Are you guys going in for photos? North, Nan, Qing?" Little Bai called out to several people. "Let’s go," Qin Nan said.
Jiang Cheng watched Little Bai and Qin Nan walk into the nearest photo gallery, "Qing," "This gallery’s name is really strange. What’s the meaning?" Little Bai asked.
"Sounds interesting, let’s go check it out," Jiang Cheng said.
"Yes," Qiu Qingqing replied briefly. The group walked into the photo gallery, where they immediately saw many photos. These photos showed many people smiling, with cutting-edge technology from the country in recent years in the background—cars, robots. As Jiang Cheng looked at the smiling faces in the photos on the walls, he felt they were genuinely happy about the country’s advanced technology achievements, and he too seemed to be moved by their smiles.
"What kind of photo do you guys want to take?" From the back room of the gallery, a person emerged. He appeared to be the photo gallery’s owner—a young man with a literary vibe, yet strangely, the gallery was empty, unlike other galleries that were jam-packed.
"Just having a look," Qiu Qingqing said calmly.
Jiang Cheng was surprised that Qiu Qingqing spoke; the owner glanced at Qiu Qingqing but didn’t display the usual astonishment people had when they saw her. He simply looked at her calmly, "Alright, I can explain to you."
Qiu Qingqing nodded. If Jiang Cheng hadn’t known Qiu Qingqing came from the same place as him, he would have thought she knew this person.
Beside them, Qin Nan and Little Bai were naturally curious, wondering why Qiu Qingqing suddenly became so talkative. "This was three hundred years ago; the first intelligent robot was developed here. At the time, the robot was slow-moving and clumsy-looking. So, many people doubted our country’s robotic Artificial Intelligence technology," the owner explained.
"Thus, the robot wasn’t popular. But within a year, many were taken aback. Our country developed a historically famous robot—the Suzhen," the owner said, pointing to a massive robot nearby. The robot now had human features almost resembling a person. The owner operated the robot, showing that it could walk steadily.
"I want to take a photo with her; I think she’s so cool," Little Bai said, reaching to touch the robot’s head.
"Of course, you can. I can take it right now," the owner said, "Just let me grab my camera."
After the owner left, "The owner’s explanations are good, but why is this photo gallery empty?" Qin Nan remarked.
"I booked it yesterday," Qiu Qingqing said.
Jiang Cheng and Qin Nan were curious about what made this gallery special enough for Qiu Qingqing to book it in advance.
Little Bai didn’t pay attention to their conversation; he was excitedly staring at Suzhen, very happy.
"You like it that much?" Jiang Cheng asked as he walked over to Little Bai.
"You don’t understand, North. Since I was little, I’ve loved robots. My dream was to own one someday. I’ve heard a lot about Suzhen. She’s really our country’s most precious robot. I’ve always wanted to see her; previously I only saw models. Seeing the real one today, I’m really excited," Little Bai was truly thrilled, just staring at the robot without touching it, filled with excitement.
Before long, the owner returned with the camera, "How do you want the photo taken?" The owner asked.
"I’ll just stand beside her," Little Bai stood a bit awkwardly.
"Relax, yes, relax," the owner adjusted Little Bai’s posture.
Jiang Cheng examined the small gallery; it looked similar to others nearby, but it seemed to have much to explore inside.
"Alright, take a look. Are you satisfied?" The owner asked.
"Very satisfied, I trust you," Little Bai said. "I won’t come to pick it up; you can give it to me later. I’m sure there’ll be more photos I want," Little Bai said.
"That’s fine too," the owner smiled.
"Shall we continue?" The owner asked, still looking at Qiu Qingqing. She nodded, so he continued explaining. "After this, robot development wasn’t smooth. It took ten years to make significant progress," he pointed to another robot resembling a human, "This is Alibaba, a result of the nation’s collective effort. His appearance is nearly identical to a human, looking like a young, handsome guy. But he’s truly just a robot. When Alibaba first appeared, he was adored by many young girls. He could perform tasks perfectly, whether household chores or work," the owner explained.
