Chapter 1305 - 1304: Parachute

Chapter 1305: Chapter 1304: Parachute

Jiang Cheng looked at Qiu Qingqing’s casual demeanor and sat down on the chair next to her. "When did you find out about this place?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Just now," Qiu Jiqing said.

"Just now? Then how did you know about this photostudio?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"Heard about it," Qiu Qingqing said, seemingly reluctant to elaborate.

Jiang Cheng, being considerate, didn’t ask further.

Not much time passed before a noise came from the entrance; it seemed like someone had returned. As Jiang Cheng stood up, he saw the door being pushed open by someone. The person who entered was a man, looking to be around forty years old, wearing glasses, giving off a cultured vibe. However, his clothes looked similar to those of ordinary people, except he was wearing a cloak-like garment, covered in a lot of snow, his hair sprinkled with flakes, making one think he was an elderly man with white hair at first glance.

When the man saw Jiang Cheng and Qiu Qingqing, he didn’t seem much surprised, and even smiled at them. "We..." Jiang Cheng began to speak.

"The snow is too heavy, taking shelter, right?" the man said with a smile.

"Yes. Without your consent," Jiang Cheng said, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

"No problem, people often come in like this. Are you hungry? Shall I make some fish soup?" the man walked over to the stove and picked up some fish.

"No, no need. We’ve already troubled you by coming in," Jiang Cheng quickly refused.

"Haha, why so particular, young man? Coming to a place like this, it’s hard to even get in. Why be so polite?" the man laughed.

He seemed even more amiable.

Jiang Cheng felt more embarrassed. He thought he might just be fussing too much.

Qiu Qingqing stood by silently, staring at the table as if lost in thought.

"Come on, in such cold weather, have a bowl of fish soup to warm up," the man brought up three bowls of fish soup. Seeing the white soup, Jiang Cheng’s appetite increased; he really wanted to try it.

Jiang Cheng glanced at the man beside him, who had already picked up his bowl and took a sip, letting out a sigh.

Jiang Cheng sniffed the fish soup and felt there was nothing wrong with it, while Qiu Qingqing hadn’t touched the bowl in front of her. Jiang Cheng didn’t know why. "Why don’t you drink? Do you think I put something in it and don’t dare to drink?" The man laughed. "Feel free to drink. Many young people like you come here often. Many are very cautious, fearing I’ll do something. But," the man looked outside, "why would I harm you? It’s tough for everyone, the further you go, the harder it gets. Drink more while you can."

As soon as the man finished speaking, Qiu Qingqing picked up her bowl and took a sip.

Jiang Cheng didn’t know why, but he felt a deep sense of melancholy in the man’s voice. He looked deeply at the man, picked up his bowl, and after drinking the fish soup, Jiang Cheng felt his body warming up, not as cold as before.

"Are you here to find the White Flower Stone?" the man suddenly asked.

"Yes, I am," Jiang Cheng said, not intending to hide anything, as this man appeared to have met many people like Jiang Cheng before.

"Haha, young indeed. At our age, doing anything feels meaningless," the man sighed.

Jiang Cheng didn’t speak, but he saw the snowflakes outside growing heavier, wondering how on earth he was going to proceed.

"Thinking about when to leave?" the man asked, seeing Jiang Cheng’s gaze.

"Hmm," Jiang Cheng replied.

"Looks like you’d have to wait a couple of hours. Plus, it’ll get colder, and it’s not just me saying this area is dangerous," the man said.

Before arriving, Jiang Cheng certainly knew this place was dangerous. He wouldn’t back off now.

"Just stay put," the man said as he headed out.

"Where are you going?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"To check on other houses," the man said with a smile, "I own a lot of properties here."

"We’ll leave when the snow lessens," Jiang Cheng said.

"No worries, I’m not coming back. Be careful," the man said, putting on his cloak and heading out.

Jiang Cheng watched the man slowly walk out; the wind and snow outside were strong, but he seemed unaffected by the cold, steadily making his way through the icy landscape.

This added a feeling of desolation.

"Do you have any direction in mind?" Jiang Cheng asked.

"No. Let’s just see as we go," Qiu Qingqing said casually.

Jiang Cheng nodded, not speaking, for the first time in such a perilous, unfamiliar environment feeling some ease, not so tense or anxious, just feeling it was good enough to sit here, waiting for the snow to lighten.

This way, they remained silent, and two hours later, the snow outside gradually subsided, almost completely stopped. Jiang Cheng stood up and looked around, "Shall we go out?" Jiang Cheng asked.

Qiu Qingqing nodded and stood up. Jiang Cheng walked behind and closed the door for the man before turning and leaving.

Once outside, Jiang Cheng felt the snow was much thicker than before; it seemed to have reached his calves, making each step quite arduous.

Though Qiu Qingqing said nothing, Jiang Cheng could see she was struggling to walk too. "Step in my footprints," Jiang Cheng said.

Qiu Qingqing said nothing, just followed in Jiang Cheng’s footprints.

The two of them walked like this for ten minutes. Jiang Cheng held the chip given by Qiu Qingqing in his hand, gradually feeling less cold.

Jiang Cheng, walking, saw a cliff ahead, "Don’t go any further, look ahead, there’s a cliff, no way forward," Jiang Cheng said.

Qiu Qingqing suddenly stopped, glanced at the road ahead, "I think it might be there," Qiu Qingqing pointed to the cliff ahead.

Jiang Cheng was a bit hesitant, although it seemed possible, "Are you sure? But maybe you’re right," Jiang Cheng said. Although the place was called North Island, it seemed like there was only this one path. Judging by this, the White Flower Stone might only be here. Now the only option was to take a look.

The two of them walked to the cliff’s edge, Jiang Cheng looked down, it seemed to be engulfed in white, looking very deep—completely out of view.

"I’ll go down first. You head back to that house and wait for me," Jiang Cheng told Qiu Qingqing.

Qiu Qingqing looked at Jiang Cheng and suddenly smiled, "If I do that, what would be the point of coming here?" Qiu Qingqing said.

Jiang Cheng saw in Qiu Qingqing not a trace of fear, thinking perhaps she genuinely wouldn’t be frightened.

"Then let’s go in the afternoon," Jiang Cheng said.

"Do you have a way to go down?" Qiu Jiqing asked.

"I can’t do nothing, right?" Jiang Cheng said with a bit of helplessness.

"Haha, that’s true," Qiu Qingqing said.

Jiang Cheng felt even more helpless, thinking Qiu Qingqing’s personality was really not likable. He took a parachute-like vehicle from the Jiezhi Bracelet, something he had created earlier to explore the deep ground, unwittingly useful now.

Qiu Qingqing looked at it curiously, "Did you make it yourself?"

"Yes. We can use this in a bit," Jiang Cheng said, opening up the parachute. It was actually quite a spacious vehicle, as he opened the door for Qiu Qingqing to get in, "This is so big, it could easily fit ten people."
