System Mission: Seduce the Final Boss [BL]
Chapter 206: Keep your enemies closer..."Here, I got the latest version of their uniforms. Do you think you can get it by tomorrow?"
Blake looked up from where he’d been sitting. He smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. Just give me a printed version, so that I can send it to my... superior."
"Sure."
Blake sighed in relief.
’Thank goodness. I can look at every little detail without a care...!’
She walked over to the printer and, a few moments later, the machine finished.
Estelle collected the pages and handed them to him.
"Tell them to make it as accurate as possible."
Blake looked down at the uniform design.
"I will."
He carefully folded the papers and headed toward his unofficial room.
It had been a week since he’d started training with Alexis.
And it hadn’t been easy, not even remotely.
Blake had also learned one of life’s most painful truths: betrayals always come from someone you love.
In this case, the betrayal was Myles... not because he had actually betrayed him, obviously.
But because, after helping them through the first day, he had simply left Blake alone with Alexis.
For an entire week. He still remembered the first morning.
"You’ll continue with Alexis."
"What?"
"You need to get used to fighting together without directions now."
And then Myles had walked away.
Blake had stared after him.
Alexis had stared at him.
"Do it, you stupid idiot!"
Blake had wanted to cry.
Still, he’d put in the effort.
He continued training with his strength buff active. Surprisingly enough, it seemed like in the past, he couldn’t reach the full potential of this B-grade buff.
The amount of strength he can now output is much more impressive than the one he showcased before.
And that was because, apart from training more physically... he improved his technique.
Now everyone seemed to have gotten used to Blake’s strength not matching his physical appearance.
Blake intended to upgrade it to A-grade eventually, maybe even higher, when the time came.
For all he knows, they probably won’t even be bothered by it.
’Clearly, I can’t do it right now but... maybe when they completely trust me?’
The problem was his passive skill about learning.
It was essentially useless if Myles wasn’t nearby.
Which meant Blake didn’t get to enjoy the ridiculous advantage he’d had during his previous training.
So it was just Alexis screaming at him.
"Too slow!"
"I’m trying!"
"You’re telegraphing your movement!"
"I don’t even know what that means!"
"You should!"
"HOW?!"
It had been a wonderful week.
Fortunately, his penalty had finally worn off a few days ago.
And now, it was time to shop.
His skill slots increased all the way to fifteen.
Besides, he also wanted other buffs.
Obviously, he couldn’t buy everything.
There were still several skills he wanted to save for later.
But some upgrades were too useful to ignore.
Blake entered his personal bathroom and closed the door.
Myles had explicitly told him there were no cameras inside.
’I hope he wasn’t lying... I don’t even have the time to go home these days. Especially at night!’
He had to take advantage of his absence.
He whispered,
"Love Tracker."
Blake looked at the red circle representing Myles.
As expected, he was quite far away.
Myles had gone to YEN with Zlatan. Apparently, Alexis was busy doing who knew what, and Zlatan pestered Myles to go with him.
He kept the map open in the corner of his vision.
That way, he could immediately notice when Myles started coming back.
"Spoon, open store."
[ Yes, Dear Host. ]
Lately, Spoon had been unusually quiet.
It still gave him the same kinds of missions, which were all optional and without rewards.
The same cheesy nonsense with the same embarrassingly romantic objectives.
So, of course, he rejected all of them.
The store opened.
There were dozens upon dozens of options.
Blake scrolled through them.
"Okay..."
He needed to prioritize physical buffs first.
He’d already decided.
"Spoon, I want to upgrade the Defence Buff to S-grade."
[ Yes, Dear Host. ]
[ Current Balance: 6700. ]
[ Defence Buff — S-Grade Upgrade: 800. ]
"Go for it."
[ Purchased. ]
"Nice."
He scrolled through the store again.
He purchased a B-grade Speed Buff next.
It wasn’t as important as his defense, but speed would be invaluable during infiltration.
Especially when combined with the suit.
Then he found something that immediately caught his attention.
HP Regen.
Blake stopped.
"Oh?"
He opened the description.
[ HP Regen ]
[ Passive Buff ]
[ Restores the Host’s physical health. ]
[ Minor injuries recover almost immediately. ]
[ Does not instantly restore severe trauma, replace lost blood, or regenerate destroyed organs, but it can over a specific amount of time, depending on the grade. ]
[ The effect remains active while the Host is conscious or unconscious, provided sufficient energy and biological resources are available. ]
Blake’s eyes widened.
’That’s hella useful!’
It was exactly the sort of ability he’d been missing.
He’d been getting stronger, his defense was improving, his speed was improving...
But injuries were still injuries.
Having his body recover faster could make an enormous difference.
He didn’t hesitate.
"A-grade."
[ Yes, Dear Host. ]
[ HP Regen — A-Grade.]
[ Cost: 800. ]
"Purchase."
[ Purchased. ]
Blake smiled.
For now, that was enough for his physical buffs.
He opened the skill section.
There were an absurd number of options.
Blake scrolled.
And scrolled.
And scrolled.
Then stopped.
"Let’s upgrade this one first."
He selected I’ll Sneak For My Lover.
[ Current Grade: B. ]
[ Upgrade to A-Grade: 400. ]
Blake nodded.
’Perfect! Now, for the new skills...’
He wanted something practical.
Something that could actually help him during the infiltration.
The first one caught his eye.
[ Let Me See What’s Behind Your Walls, My Darling. ]
Blake stared at the name, unimpressed. Then, he opened the description.
[ Allows the Host to perceive objects, structures, and living entities through solid surfaces within a limited range. ]
[ Effective range and clarity increase with grade. ]
Blake’s expression slowly changed as he nodded.
’Well, that’s pretty useful in an underground facility... but now only that!’
He purchased it.
[ Cost: 400. ]
[ A-Grade Skill Purchased. ]
Blake immediately moved to the next one.
He knew exactly what he wanted.
Something that would warn him before he encountered something dangerous.
He found one.
[ Something Feels Weird, Honey, Should We Run? ]
He opened the description.
[ Danger Sense ]
[ Passively detects hostile intent, imminent physical threats, and abnormal fluctuations in the surrounding environment. ]
[ The warning may manifest as an instinctive feeling, heightened awareness, or directional sensation. ]
[ The skill does not identify the exact nature of every threat and should not be treated as absolute precognition. ]
[ A-Grade greatly increases detection range and reaction time. ]
[ The skill works best if around Myles Cortez. ]
Blake’s eyes widened.
This one was arguably even more important.
He absolutely did not want to accidentally run into a second generation, and this was definitely going to help!
He purchased it immediately, for the same amount as the previous one.
[ A-Grade Skill Purchased. ]
Blake looked at his remaining balance.
Then back at the store. He still had enough mental health for one more.
"What should I get..."
He scrolled. Eventually, one caught his eye.
[ Look At What I Want And Forget Everyone Else. ]
Blake opened the description.
[ Temporarily enhances the Host’s ability to draw and maintain the attention of a selected individual, on whoever he decides, including himself. ]
[ The effect influences attention, focus, and social perception without directly overriding free will. ]
[ Cannot force, on any part involved, affection, loyalty, obedience, or romantic attraction. ]
[ At higher grades, the effect becomes subtler and more difficult to consciously notice. ]
Blake slowly smiled.
’I can see the massive potential this skill has...!’
Not necessarily for combat. But for infiltration? Distraction? Getting someone to focus on some random person while he and Alexis moved?
That could be useful.
And, technically... it was also another skill designed to help him seduce Myles.
Blake sighed.
"Fine."
He purchased it at A-grade.
[ A-Grade Skill Purchased. ]
Blake’s balance immediately dropped.
He stared at the number.
3200.
"..."
He narrowed his eyes.
"Did you raise the prices on purpose?"
Spoon remained silent.
Blake stared at the screen.
’You’re suspiciously quiet.’
He closed the store.
He’d spent a considerable amount, but he couldn’t say he regretted it.
His defense was stronger, his speed was better, he had regeneration, a stealth upgrade, a wall-perception skill, danger Sense, and another social manipulation skill that might prove useful in a pinch...
’Not bad.’
Blake got up.
Then glanced toward the Love Tracker.
Myles was still far away.
"Good."
He left the bathroom.
Still, he would have to be very careful.
He wasn’t operating alone anymore.
He couldn’t simply activate every skill whenever he wanted.
Using too many abilities carelessly could expose him, especially at a sensitive time like this.
Blake sighed.
"How annoying..."
He folded Estelle’s printed uniform design carefully and tucked it away.
Now, he’ll have to work on memorizing the uniform.
And soon after that... they’d infiltrate YEN.
Blake looked toward the door.
He really hoped everything would go according to plan.
Because after all this preparation, he absolutely did not want to discover that he’d forgotten something incredibly important...
