BALE’S POV
Bale watched as his brother stood before the bed, his perfect blond hair in its perfect hairstyle.
Never a single strand out of place.
His long and yet masculine lashes framing his face.
His mustache at his chin and above his lips that radiated how handsome he was.
The cleft that hung in between his chin while he despite being twenty six had still not been able to grow a single beard.
Everything about his brother that intimated everyone and annoyed him.
He knew where this was headed.
"Bale." Aiden said in a stern voice. "How are you feeling?"
"I’m fine." Bale remarked dryly.
"Are you sure you are? You had another epileptic shock. Far from home." Aiden said with a shake of head. "You should have never come."
Bale went red in shame.
He knew this was here Aiden was headed.
He had known it.
With Ruby beside him here, Aiden was going to talk to him like a child.
He could not let that be the impression of him she saw.
"Can you not do this right now." Bale said trying his best to manage his temper.
"You need air and light." Ruby said quietly as she rose up from her seat and began to pull the curtains open.
Light streaked in and illuminated the room.
"When it concerns me! I will do it!" Aiden snapped.
"I should go." Ruby said very quietly.
"No. You don’t need to go anywhere." Bale said stubbornly.
Aiden’s eyes turned to fire and seemed to notice Ruby.
Bale’s jaw clenched in jealousy.
He knew what it was going to be.
All the she-wolves saw Aiden and wanted him.
The few he would try to talk to at celebrations and festivals would only talk to him just so they could get closer to Aiden or the moment they saw Aiden, they all completely forgot about him.
Ruby was the most beautiful girl he had ever met.
He knew better than anyone she was also the most beautiful girl Aiden had ever seen.
And he knew his Casanova brother enough to know that he would want her.
It infuriated him.
"Ruby this is my brother Aiden." Bale introduced as flimsy as he could.
He also knew what happened next.
How she was going to be smitten with Aiden.
How she would never smile at him again.
But what happened next shocked him.
She curtseyed and said. "Good morning my lord."
When her face was raised up, there was no indication that she was the least bit interested in him.
"What are you doing here?" Aiden asked
"I came to check on his health and give him some medicine." She said backing Aiden and turning to face Bale.
Bale was stunned.
Was he missing something?
This had never happened before.
No one had ever spoken to Aiden so dismissively.
"Go." Aiden instructed to Ruby.
Ruby frowned.
But she rose up from her seat. "I will check up on you later and bring in your breakfast."
She gently touched his shoulder and Bale went red.
Then she gracefully walked away from him and he walked closely as she went by Aiden.
She didn’t even regard him as if anyone was present.
Bale wondered if he had died and come back a leprechaun.
The goddess must have blessed him with luck.
The door was slammed shut indicating he had left.
Bale was elated
What in the goddess of all wolves had just happened?
Aiden walked away from where he stood at the foot of the bed and went to Bale’s side.
He sat down and looked at him with a straight face.
There was an expression that was on his face.
"I told you not to come here." Aiden said.
"You don’t own me." Bale declared. "I can do as much as I want.
Aiden rubbed his perfect hair with an air of irritation.
"You could have died." Aiden snapped.
"Not like you care." Bale mumbled to himself.
"What?" Aiden snapped.
"Nothing." Bale said.
But Aiden had caught it.
"You’re so childish and immature." Aiden expressed after a minute of silence. "I sang it over to mother and father. Told them you were in no position to come here and your first night you almost die?! Sweet goddess."
Bale went red but said nothing.
He had never had an outright argument with his brother.
Just thrown side remarks here and there and ignored him.
He was too intimidated by his brother to.
"This is my life Aiden." Bale said clearly. "I get to make my own choices too."
"Not when it’s at the detriment of mine." Aiden declared in rage.
Bale took in a deep breath as he tried his best control his anger.
He had learned that getting angry with his brother never yielded any fruits.
Aiden paced the room and set his hands in his waist.
"I will be gathering a travel party to send you back home." Aiden said walking back to the doors.
"I am going NOWHERE!" Bale snapped.
Not when he was seeing a much better environment here.
Not when for once things looked better for him.
He hated home.
Moreover he had so much to explore and he was not going to let Aiden spoil it.
"You don’t have a right to say what I can and I can not do." Aiden emphasized.
"Our parents left me in charge! I do! Especially when your life is my hands. How do you expect me to face them if you die?! What do you expect me to tell mother?!" Aiden barked, his blood boiling. "You almost died! I felt it in my wolf! Can you not understand that?! At all?!"
Bale pouted and turned his face away.
"You don’t need to pretend to care. Do what you came to do and I will do what I can with myself. But I am not going anywhere.
Aiden sighed heavily and shook his head.
His hands that had been tightened into a fist was now released and free.
He walked towards the doors, seemed about to say something but decided against it before walking away.
