Chapter 19 - The true power of RainMaker 1.0!

After the clouds enveloped the dark skies, lightning flashed upon the clouds as a raging downpour fell upon the area. The entire fortress seemed to be covered in a dense curtain of rain as all of the birdmen and magical beasts were forced to fly lower to the ground. All with the exception of a large bubble around Felicia and the Wyvern.

As the Gargoyles tried again to strike at the now downed Wyvern, a bright flash of lightning suddenly struck and deactivated the magic circles found within these gargoyles. All of them began falling to the ground with many unsuspecting Birdmen and magical beasts felled by the weight of the statues landing upon them.

With the effect of this item fully revealed to the Wyvern, it shivered in place hoping that the fierce lightning would not rush to devour it alive.

Then, it was like that bolt of lightning was just a warm up as the rest of the flying creatures around were all then struck simultaneously by lightning and were all sent spiraling into the ground.

What was most surprising was that the lightning did not kill any of them, only disabled them and gave them incapacitating pain.

Since they were all done for, Felicia then closed the umbrella which frightened the Wyvern until it realized the clouds quickly disappeared before the barrier around them dissipated.

Then she hopped off of the wyvern and landed on the ring shaped fortress. As she did, the umbrella also floated along following her.

"Good girl. You did well! That was exactly what we needed." She then patted the umbrella that bounced around happily.

Among all of the treasures she found in the mirror dimension, this tool was both one of the most destructive and also the most obedient among them. Compared to some of the other tools in the dimension, it could be ranked in the top ten in destructive force.

Using a combination of Rain from the water branch of magic and calling Lightning from lightning based magic as well as some use of Wind magic too that I did not use fully, the tool could be considered able to destroy an entire country if left unchecked.

And even though it had such destructive power, it was enhanced further staying in the mana intense Mirror Dimension owned by Alice so even that base form would only be dwarfed by its current potential.

This was one of the reasons that the other tools became so irritable. Originally possessing immense strength, they only improved further within the dimension, yet with few targets they could only vent upon each other.

So there were a bunch of offensive tools that worked together to blast the grouped defensive sets that were able to show off their defensive worth.

After a long war, they finally grew bored since they were simply fighting the same ones over and over.

It was only now that Felicia began going in and taking out some to use that some of them have seen the outside world after their creation.

So many of them would get excited and start attacking all around uncontrollably when they left so she was only left with a few tools to use regularly.

Since the hero was usually the one doing the fighting with her simply watching from a distance, most of the offensive tools within the space still have not had much room to freely stretch around.

If she had not fallen asleep, perhaps she could have asked Felicia to grant them a more open space to roam around, but she was currently asleep and guarded.

So now she has sadly been forced to only use the tools who would be the most obedient to her when used and this RainMaker 1.0 happened to be the strongest that would follow her orders exactly.

Maybe because it was the oldest created composite magic tool that Alice put her highest creativity and thought into to imitate the power of natural disasters that made it so perfectly obedient to Felicia who looks like her creator while acting as her daughter?

Either way, since it was the most useful it would be the most used.

Since they were done out here, Felicia began to check what was going on in the ring fortress.

Meanwhile, within the fortress, when the spell expanded outside the fighters within the fortress noticed the movements.

"What was that?" From the depths of the largest cavern, a giant bird who faced off the hero party questioned what went on outside.

"I don't know! But what I do know is that we will take you down here!" The hero bravely faced the Bird like demon.

Next to the Bird was the corpse of the long dead wyvern that was slowly torn apart to be used as feed for this beast. Along with it was a cage full of smaller wyverns locked up.

"Ha! I don't know what you think you are, but I am the king of the sky!" With a bold flap of its wings, the cavern collapsed and revealed that the whole cave was made to be collapsible for an escape even if the entrance here was blocked.

Then the bird flew off with the hero party hot on its heels.

"Get back here Malica!"

That was right. This huge bird demon was actually the Demon general in charge of the fortress. As a creature with the race of Phoenix, it showed its true bird like form in its own fortress. Then it started flying through the ring shaped fortress made to lap around like a circular race track.

When the phoenix flew around, the hero party then gave chase after freeing the locked wyvern children. On foot, they were actually quite fast due the physical capabilities of the hero and Mellie's ability to heal his stamina in a pinch. So within the enclosed race track there were able to keep up.

Then when the phoenix tried to escape through one of the many entrances/exits of the fortress, it was blocked from leaving through the wind magic belonging to the Wyvern.

"This magic... The one that got away! How dare you come back!"

While it was angrily venting against the created air wall, the hero party caught up and the hero quickly swung a large slash with his blade nearing the phoenix's wing.

"Woah there! That could have been dangerous! Ha ha!" the bird exclaimed before once again darting to the next entrance.

"I don't believe that that wyvern could precisely block every entrance with the same amount of magic!"

Unfortunately for it, every entrance it came into contact with was equally defended. During those times it lost control, the hero party finally got the opportunity to face and strike at the beast directly. A few more precise blows were able to cause quite a deal of damage.

Finally at the last entrance when the beast found that each entrance was blocked up precisely the same amount, it screeched in rage.

This higher level of distraction allowed the Hero Party to all be able to fully charge and deal all of their blows to the beast.

"Holy Light Charge!"

"Golden Figure Dance!"

"Water Slashers!"

"Magic Boost!"

The Hero first started by charging straight at the phoenix and lightly pinning the beast against a wall while Vanessa had a golden figure generated by her skill form and begin slashing with two illusory long daggers. Then Wendy's new spell obtained from the spell book in the Demon King castle was cast and several high pressure water slash that could easily cut through steel like it was butter and the final boost was from Mellie who enhanced the effects of everyone else's moves.

With this combo strike, the general was immediately slammed into the wall and had its wings and chest chopped into pieces.

"You... How dare... HOW DARE ALL OF YOU GO AGAINST ME!" With one final screech, the body in front of us seemed to be like a puppet that had its strings cut and collapsed.

Although the general seemed dead, the hero party was still wary watching the surroundings.

Compared to the hard fight against the general Volcanica where they fought for multiple days on end, this fight seemed more anticlimactic.

Even if the general was not as defensive as Volcanica was, there was no way that it would die that simply.

In fact, above the fortress an awkward scene was playing out.

Malica had actually did an Ash rebirth above the fortress and was preparing to escape temporarily to fully recover from the wounds incurred on this battle. Then it turned and saw the Wyvern simply sitting there with Felicia next to it.

An awkward silence rang out between them. Then a dark shadow fell upon the reborn phoenix's face as it then glared eyes blazing at the Wyvern.

"You are here!"

Ignoring the presence of Felicia and her floating umbrella, the results of it clawing over would be that Felicia would be harmed in the aftermath, but the demon general did not care. In fact, the more it could kill the happier it would be.

So it rushed forth and...

Now there was the scene of the two of them watching as the General that was able to smoothly escape the hero's attacks getting chased by an umbrella left and right. Even when it tried to fly, the umbrella opened up and sent a beam of lightning to cook its wings.

Since this was autonomous from the umbrella, Felicia simply told it to incapacitate it and leave the killing blow to the hero party that she called through telepathy.

Because she has no level of knowledge in any magic other than space, this telepathy was not the actual Telepathy spell belonging to Mind magic. Instead it was because she placed a space mark on the hero so that even if he evades her range she would still be able to find him.

In fact, this was how she was able to keep track of Luke when he tried to escape her surveillance. Space magic to the outside world seemed like a mythical thing as knowledge on that magic had long been lost so spells countering niche spells like a space mark have also long been lost.

Anyways, using the mark to inform the hero what was going on, they arrived quickly and saw the general being beaten by an umbrella.

"..."

The party was struck speechless at the scene. Then the umbrella was finally called back and the general could finally catch a breath as it stared at the hero.

"You... laid an ambush? How despicable..."

Then the bird went unconscious before they could explain themselves. They turned to Felicia who looked away and whistled innocently. With a sigh, they then took the beast's head and took the rest of the corpse to bolster the courage of the Empire. Now all that was left was the Wyvern and its children.

After leading it through the fortress, all of the young wyverns quickly appeared and were brought by the mother wyvern until they reached the remaining corpse of her husband.

Some sad farewell, the wyvern trapped the bones with her claws and finally flew them to the top of the fortress.

"So this is where we part ways. Do you know where you will be going now?" the hero asked solemnly. After some hesitation, the wyvern then roared and told the hero its next path forward.

After a nod, the group all bid their farewells as the wyvern planned to mourn its husband's passing before deciding to leave.

Then it was the hero party and Felicia who remained at the top of the fortress.

"Can you take us down?" The hero asked. The demon girl was a little confused. If they were willing to receive her help the whole time wouldn't the mission be far easier? Why not ask her at that time? Although she would likely still reject them anyways.

"Well, we sort of wanted to do this crusade on our own. I mean aren't these subordinates the Demon King's generals? If you can be considered as Alice's child, then you would call him grandpa. I thought that it would be awkward for you."

That answer is exactly what I expected him to say. Just as empathetic and caring as ever. Since the main mission was over, I guess I could take them with me. So I took out the flying carpet and laid it on the ground as they all stepped foot onto it. Then it started hovering upwards before finally starting to fly and send us back closer to the town we departed from.

When we arrived, the hero was once again invited by another spy and after giving an encrypted answer they then went and left with a carriage already prepared for them.

Now, the driver was someone different but the trip was similar. With Felicia with them, they now allowed her to open her spatial senses to warn them of danger which sped up the journey by a lot.

After returning to the main capital, the other party members went to retell their journey as they left Felicia in the room to rest for today. And so the days passed quite comfortably.
