Chapter 4 - First Confrontation!
A few more months passed as I continued to train my capabilities in that training ground. I have not upgraded in magic level since that time, but looking at my status screen helped to show my progress.

That's right, I have gotten a new skill in this time.
Practicing various weapon shapes with my Void Hands, I generally found out that softer weapons and projectiles were not a good match for these Void Hands. Although the hands are flexible enough to use a bow, it is generally difficult to maintain the stability of void objects that were not familiar to me like a hand.
Spatial solidification also lead to whips and the like generally not mixing with space well.
So I chose the spear among all of the various cold weapons as my weapon of choice. While the spear gives the user little in terms of defense, my void hands are not a part of my body or connected to it so I don't really need defense. As for versatility, once I get familiar with it I could probably throw a spatially solidified spear like a javelin well as well as the general uses that a spear has.
Now with eight hands and each hand wielding a spear, I could generally deal with any opponent at my level with ease so I started practicing against the next level of opponents.
Because of my training in the last level, I was still able to hold my own against those at the early teens in level. It is just that as the simulations grew in level so did their various capabilities.
So my high versatility in my magic allowed me to compete, but some of their strong points in magic could still catch me off guard especially since I was lower level than them.
Thus it was time for me to update my magic to the next level. After all, this level in magic was what allowed me to fight battles so crushingly in the first place.
Unlike when I first increased my level in magic, leveling at this stage starts to slow down, not only because of the massive increase in the amount of mana required for each level, but also in terms of turning quantity to quality.
In levels 1-4 I could just absorb basic mana in the air to level up, but that would not be enough starting at level 5. There is a reason that there is a clear distinction between those under and those over the level 5 threshold.
That is turning quantity to quality. It is like condensing mana into a more condensed and powerful form. In this way, I could use more powerful spells at a lower cost. It just requires me to condense this mana and any particles I absorb from now on also have to be condensed as well.
Thankfully, it is just the first compression that requires time. Once the first one is done, other particles that are absorbed would simply follow the blueprints already laid out for it.
So I took the next week trying to condense my mana.
During this time, I finally got to see my father for the first time since I was in this body. Looking at him now, I can't really tell any resemblance between me and him.
I a white haired little girl with a lizard like tail on my bottom and clear bright baby blue eyes looks nothing like my father who is a huge hulking beast of a man with the same white hair except the color is closer to gray and red eyes. Even his skin is a little different.
My skin is rather porcelain white while his is a dark and ashy gray.
Looking at him in front of me, I don't fawn towards him like I used to do. Since I could remember how he treated this body before, I felt like I should not give him such good treatment anymore.
Seeing into his eyes now, did I just see a faint sadness? When I tried to look deeper, he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and turn his eyes away. Although I wanted to confirm if what I saw was correct, I didn't really have such an urge to do so.
Ignoring that matter, I continued my attempts to condense my mana when I sensed that there were more guards around than before. Did something happen?
Well, it is not really my problem. Unless a hero gets born that is strong enough to defeat my dad, I can just stay at home and study magic anyways. It's not like my dad seems to want me to get into this kind of situation anyways.
After that week went by, I was finally able to get a lead on how I can compress my mana. In just few days afterwards I was completely successful in my endeavor and even gained a real level as a reward.
With my magic finally reaching the level of Five, I could finally check out the intermediate level of spell books for a Space Mage.
In the previous levels, you could have mistaken my magic for something like telekinesis also known as Mind Magic. But at this level, Space begins to show its real edge.
From Spatial Barriers to Spatial cuts and oh so much more! There is also the famed special ability of spatial storage as well. Compared to my previous level there are so many new spells to learn from!
I first started with the ability of Spatial Barriers. Compared to Offense, with my perception ability and the safety of my Dad's Castle, I don't really need offense or defense. the difference is that while my Void Hands are decent for offense, they are not as good on the defensive side.
So I should have a spatial barrier and Void Hands outside to fight foes at first!
Of course, this is going to be a long endeavor so I should focus on learning every spell I have access to in the library while I still have all of this free time. My instincts are telling me that I may not have this leisure forever.
The next series of studying would take several months to complete so I immediately buried my head into studying. First I remembered all of the textbooks in my head first. I just need to have the words down so I could maybe refer to different textbooks when stuck on one.
I can do so mostly thanks to this perfect memory I have now.
Studying these spells then became my hobby day in and day out. Except for using the restroom, eating, and sleeping I spent all waking hours doing my best to cram all of the knowledge I could.
Because of this, I did not even realize that my next birthday and a celebration for a whole year in this body had passed till I saw my Father again.
Compared to when I last saw him, his eyes seemed a bit more haggard which was surprising since he hasn't even met me for several months. I finally got to hear his voice for the first time in this life.
"Happy Birthday. Are you doing well?"
Although he seemed to speak nicely and seemed caring, he has only met me at most twice a year. Still, I greeted him rather casually, but still showed some distance compared to before.
I could see clearer the sadness in his eyes, but he then shakes his head and started chatting to himself. It was mostly about his paperwork, but what I really wanted to know was something different. Even if it would soil his mood, I think that the girl this body belonged to deserved to hear about it.
"Who was my mother?" I asked him quietly.
He paused for a moment. Then he looked into my clear blue eyes. I could see his expression softening for a moment before hardening back up.
"She was... a kind soul. Even to a demon like me she was willing to lend a helping hand to when I was at the bottom of my life."
He then began reminiscing about the wife that he probably lost. Muttering fragments about a story that has long passed. Although tears never fell from his eyes, it was not because he was fine. On the contrary, I could feel movement and emotion like no other time in his eyes.
This was an observation that a child would never realize. Seeing his eyes, I was able to piece together the whole story. I was able to get the full picture and an idea on why I was being treated like this.
He probably lost his wife either during childbirth or soon after that.
Otherwise I would have had memories of a happier life. Since I don't then she must have been gone soon after my birth.
After he was finished with his stories, he calmed down and sat in reflection for a few moments. Then he stood up and excused himself.
Although I did not get the birthday and love that this body craved for, I at least got some answers to what this body sought. Sitting in the room alone, I then opened my Status Screen once more.

Looking at my current level in Space Magic, I knew that I wanted to go and reach further. I have already reached the level of an experienced mage in just a year, imagine how far I would go once I reached adulthood?
Heading into the library again, I went straight to the training grounds that I only used for showing spells till now.
With my current capabilities in magic, I knew that I could now easily massacre those in my current stage.
Setting a level 20 boss for myself to fight, I watched as the pack of wolves all easily were torn apart while my barrier kept me absolutely safe from all forms of counterattack.
For a normal mage, my current level in magic would not be reached unless I was already at the level of 25. At least, that is how it is stated in the introduction to magic. This means that my current magic is beyond my current level of experience to have access to.
I am just that talented to be able to reach it so easily. Only someone like me has the chance to touch the mythical level of 10 in magic. My eyes shown with a fervor like no other as I watched the wolves fall apart and dissipate into simulated lines.
Casting multiple magics at once like having my passive sensing on while having a barrier and cutting my enemies with spatial slashing is considered difficult for most mages at this level of magic to emulate. Thankfully, my passive spatial sensing helped to reduce the calculations needed for my spatial slashes and barriers so I was barely able to do such operations.
Entering different opponents into the training simulations device simply lead to more dead bodies. The only exception were two entries.
They were the young version of the Original Hero and Original Devil.
In the simulation, their characters before the level of twenty were still at the level of a boss at their level. It is only now that they reached the 20 mark that they have started to show their special skills.
For once, my magic and my opponent's magic were tied.
Facing them as I was now, I only barely won by the skin of my teeth. Their proficiency with magic rivaled my own and Light and Dark Magic have their own specialties that caused me plenty of troubles.
First of all, both of them had a sensory deprivation type of spell. I looked it up later in the library and found that at this level the Hero and Devil had both started to modify and change their spells to more optimal states. Although the specific spells are lost to time, there have been attempts to replicate the abilities of them at various points in time.
Their Blinded and Shadowed state allowed them to get the jump on me. Then the real killer is their powerful instinct.
Unlike myself who has only ever fought in simulations, these guys at this time were seasoned fighters and adventurers who had gone through several life and death matches.
Even if I was lower level than them, my magic should have still let me take the advantage, but I still was put on the back foot.
So I decided to stay at this level. Honing my skills against possibly the most talented people in the world in order to train my skills.
Thankfully the simulation could emulate even instinct which allowed me to train in it as well by fighting the two of them.
So the next period of time, I continued to face those two in battle till I could almost memorize their attack patterns.
