Chapter 6 - First Boss Fight!

Since I was well rested, I was ready to cleanly sweep this boss fight right away. The enemies that I faced in this adventure were all rather weak so I was not expecting much from this match.

Entering the room, I noticed that the boss was covered in smoke which obscured the boss from my vision until I fully set foot upon the boss room.

"Heh, a cheap trick to lull me to fight. That's alright, I wanted to fight it head on anyways."

I confidently sauntered over into the boss room and watched as the smoke cleared after the doors behind me slammed shut. Looking at the revealed boss, my brows furrowed. Rather than the expected field or forest type of creature it seems I caught quite the catch.

"Grahhh!" The foe in front of me cried.

Since this was a foe rather than a potential ally, I directly appraised the foe in front of me.

Name: N/A

Race: Undead Knight

Level: 20

Magic: Dark Magic (?)

Skill: Riding (?), Sword Skill (?)

This foe did not match the previous characteristics of the dungeon at all. The worst part was that this knight comes with a mount as well that has a mind of its own.

The knight atop the skeletal horse was also a skeleton that unsheathed its blade and rose it into the sky. Around it several formations appeared and more skeleton riders emerged from the magic formations.

Great, now it's a boss and minions for the price of one!

No biggie though. I even faced the hero and Demon King at this level and succeeded. This would just be maybe a slightly more difficult foe to face.

What was truly odd was why this was not an option when I used the simulated training grounds. The foes I faced included undead, but none like this.

Starting off, I had my spatial barrier up around me as my first move as I summoned my Void Hands. Unlike most biological opponents, a simple cut from my spatial slash would only temporarily cripple an undead. Since there is no blood or biological tissue to take advantage of, I could only bash it in with all that I have.

First, I sent four hands to fend off the four summoned riders as the remaining half of my Void hands faced the main boss. From my experience, it is most important to disarm my opponent when they have a weapon so I aimed a spatial slash at the skeleton's right shoulder while thrusting from all four cardinal directions with my spears.

Unfortunately, my spear thrusts simply can't work that well on an undead like a skeleton so I simply used the thrusts of my spears to keep the foe in place so I could disable it's weapon arm.

Firing at the skeleton, I was able to keep the main body in place, but forgot to keep the mount in place as well so the two were able to dodge my spatial slash with their intuition.

Intuition is my least favorite variable in a fight since my spatial attacks are rather precise. When they land they can usually guarantee a crippling blow, but so many enemies start having intuition and dodging these attacks of mine.

Since the main boss would still take some time and concentration to finish off, I decided to keep them busy with my void hands while I eliminate the smaller riders.

If I had all eight hands to focus on the boss, then the boss would not have anything it could do. So using the time I could distract the boss with my void hands I went and finished off the minions.

Thankfully, the minions are practically a one shot kill. Using my spatial slash to decapitate the rider, then smash the skull with my void hand or its spear and the rider is done for. At these lower levels the mount has little intelligence so after the rider is done I could easily trip up the mount and kill it in an instant.

In the time I took on the four minions, the main boss was able to take down a void hand and I was surprisingly on the back foot slightly in the confrontation.

Because I was done with the minions, the other four void hands joined in the fight alongside a newly replenished void hand to regain the upper hand.

It tried to resummon more minions, but I threatened it with a spatial slash so it quickly stopped the summoning animation for its minions. Then the fight became a rather brutal beatdown as half of my hands removed their weapons in order to physically grab hold of the mount horse's legs and lift it in the air.

The mount could not fly and since it was held in place, I was able to get a good slash in which surprisingly did not cut off the skeleton's shoulder. It was not something a few more slashes could not do though.

With the mount in the air and the rider without a weapon, I was able to hold the two down and even separate the mount and rider so I could easily finish each one right after the other.

"Phew, that was a surprisingly difficult match!" I shouted to myself in the now empty boss room.

Then a chest appeared on the other side of the room which was much more elegantly decorated than before. Just in case I once again tested in case the treasure chest was a mimic and when I confirmed it was safe I opened the chest.

Seeing the contents in the chest, I saw that there were gold coins at the bottom as well as a staff and a note.

Putting away the staff and gold for now, I then picked up and opened the note.

"If you are seeing this, Alice, then that means you have defeated the guardian I have set for you in this mini personal dungeon I gave you. What should I say, sorry? This skeleton guard was actually just a soul from one of the skeleton guards who had died in my army in the past. I hope it didn't give you that much of a fright! Well, since you have vanquished it, that means you are strong enough to survive on your own. I am sorry that I couldn't be a good father to you when you were younger. There was an assassin. They invaded while I was away and killed your mother. Your resemblance is simply uncanny. It's almost like you are her mirror image! I couldn't find a way to word what I wanted to you before so I thought I could simply right it down and eventually decided to leave it as a reward for you once you have cleared this dungeon. Well, sorry for telling you in this way, but Happy Birthday. Love Dad"

Looking at this letter written for the owner of this body, I could not help wanting to find a way to send it over to her.

I should preserve this letter for her. I will put in my storage space and when I can I will hand it over to her so she could read and understand it herself.

Since the dungeon run was over, I was teleported back to the golem's room. Since I was teleported again, I felt the sensation of the movement again and had a clearer understanding of what I needed to do to teleport myself once I could.

Seeing that I was here, I decided to ask the golem something rather important for me.

"Did you tell my father that I have successfully completed his test?"

The golem then replied on the screen it provided me. On the screen it wrote: Authority has been transferred from Mars to Alice. All information must first pass through Master Alice's hands first. Would you like to send this news to your father?

" No. Not yet." I replied.

The text on the screen then disappeared after it stated the response Acknowledged. Then the screen showed all of the buttons to me.

Once I finish mastering my Space Magic I will then focus on Mind Magic to hopefully send her the letter as a message to her. Once that happens, I can calmly claim this body as completely my own.

For now, I should just focus on my magic and pretend that I am still trying the dungeon. Maybe I can even put the dungeon away to give myself more time. Hmm...

It would feel weird if I put it away so early. So maybe in a few months time.

In this time, I should focus once more on reaching the point that I can have access to High level magic.

So another month passes by and I finally once again reach a tipping point to the level of level 8 Space Magic.

In this month, I have been focussing on consolidating my knowledge of Space Magic and meditating while holding on to the dungeon marble too. I had read through and could completely recite the requirements to reach the next level of space magic by heart if I wanted so I knew what I had to do.

For those with a lesser talent in space, they would first need to be able to dominate Space Magic. This is one of the requirements to reach the next level of Space magic.

Thankfully, my affinity for the element once again saved me as I could already naturally dominate over the element.

Now what I had to do is unify my knowledge on Space Magic as well as absorb an absurd amount of spatial mana as well. The only step I was missing right now was that last one so that was why I was currently meditating.

When I finally reach the critical point, I felt as if an explosion happened in my soul. In an instant, I recalled every step of my journey till this point and suddenly felt my body and soul reach a near unison point.

Right when I thought I was going to reach it, I felt a single point of resistance. Although I felt that one point resisting, the rest of my body easily unified to one concept and I became something like a cloud of super dense Spatial mana wrapped around a fragile small point of light.

When I sensed my insides, I knew instinctively that this point of light must be the original soul of this body! Full of surprise, I tried to move the spot of light but found that it stubbornly stuck to my body. Thankfully it did not prevent me from progressing as could be seen by my new status screen

Status Screen

Name: Alice Mir Devir

Title: Daughter of the Demon King, Reincarnated One, Void Mage

Race: Demon

Level: 40

Magic: Dark magic (1), Space Magic (8)

Skill: Reading (7), Etiquette (5), Appraisal (8), Spear Skill (5)

I instantly reached the limit of this level with this promotion and I could still feel that I had full control over my body. Since this soul did not conflict with my growth yet, I decided to simply ignore it until I reached the limit of level 9. Once I did, I could then pivot to learning Mind Magic to hopefully resolve the girl's conflict.

Since I decided my next course of action, I quickly headed towards the library with an extra skip in my step. Once I did, I quickly took the books I was waiting for an organized the books in a list for me to read.

What was really surprising to me was that although there were few books at this level they were all rather special in some ways.

There was even a very special one that I felt inside my soul would tear me apart should I open it now and thus saved it for last. That was a book that was labeled Spatial Collapse.

That already sounded dangerous so I decided to familiarize myself with Teleportation for now.

With my current knowledge reserves and brain as well as practical experience, I was able to quickly get the hang of the spell and in no time I could cast it quite freely.

So another year passed studying all of this magic.
