In the next instant however, a massive bolt of lightning fell from the heavens with divine fury, straight towards Kaal.
It arrived above him almost instantly, but just as it seemed like the lightning bolt would incinerate Kaal to nothing but ash, an overwhelming volume of blood materialized a meter above his head.
As the lightning struck the river of blood, the world was bathed in a flash of purple and red.
Some of the spectators even had to take their eyes off the screen until the flash subsided.
When everything cleared, there was Kaal, standing amidst the utterly annihilated landscape with not so much as a scratch on him whatsoever.
Kaal however, wasn’t fixated on that. He was more fixated on the fact that Levi had forced him to use his abilities when he hadn’t wanted to.
He turned to stare at Levi in the distance, who was looking at him with a mocking smirk.
Kaal offered no word or even a change in expression, instead, a blood red spear materialized in Kaal’s grasp, it’s metallic blade gleaming ominously beneath the storm sky.
In the same breath, both Kaal and Levi tore towards each other with overwhelming speed.
Kaal’s spear met Levi’s sword in an apocalyptic clash, the reverberation of steel striking steel echoed across the landscape. A burst of sparks burst to life at the moment of contact, only to be instantly put out by the rippling shockwave that followed.
Levi’s body shot backwards without control, but Kaal who had stood his ground effortlessly followed after him.
However Kaal’s pursuit soon came to a stop as another massive lightning bolt fell from the sky right in his way. Kaal blurred backwards without wasting time. With an earth shattering shockwave, the lightning bolt that dropped from the sky rendered the ground into molten glass.
Meanwhile Levi who had got thrown backwards, landed on his feet.
’He is stronger than I am.’ Levi realized as he stared at his trembling sword hand. In their short exchange, he had come to realize that he couldn’t defeat the demon Prince. Levi had been pushing himself at full power, but he could tell Kaal was not doing the same. In fact Kaal seemed to effortlessly match Levi whenever the young man increased his output.
Levi’s initial ability was just lightning manipulation. However, he gained the ability to summon lightning from the sky whenever and wherever he wished after breaking through to the Zeta- rank. Not only that, Levi could also turn into a single bolt of lightning and move at speeds akin to teleportation.
Yet even with all these, Levi still felt Kaal would still beat him. But it was not like he was backing out though.
Meanwhile, Kaal was also thinking of something else.
’He’s smarter than I expected.’ he thought looking at the ground that had turned into molten glass. It seemed Levi had somehow stopped him from manipulating the blood in his body by running the lightning element throughout his blood channels.
’That bloody information hub.’ He shook his head in amusement.
Not only that, Levi was also smart enough to not let Kaal close in on him after he was thrown backwards, by sending a lightning bolt in his way.
’Well done indeed.’ Kaal inwardly praised. ’But it won’t change the decided outcome.’
The river of blood he had created earlier has been burned down to almost half its volume by that lightning bolt, but it still churned in excitement.
Kaal turned towards Levi, then vanished from his spot in a palpable red aura. The shock from his movement only rang out after he had reached the human boy.
Kaal’s spear thrusted at Levi’s chest, but Levi disappeared in a bolt of lightning. Following his disappearance, Kaal also disappeared with a burst of displaced air.
Both their form flickered across the landscape, their very steps shattering the earth. They moved at speeds that covered kilometers in mere seconds.
’And this is why an enclosed arena would have been better.’ Damon silently mused. If there was an arena, Levi wouldn’t be able to enact a chase such as this. He would have been ended in less than half a minute.
Not only Damon, many thought the same and clicked their tongue in frustration.
Meanwhile, as the two races across the landscape, Lightning bolts fell from the sky far too occasionally, each one aimed precisely in Kaal’s head. But the demon Prince somehow always avoids the bolts.
Finally having enough, Kaal decided to end the chase now. He instantly blipped out of existence, leaving a bipedal shaped vacuum in his spot.
The next instant, he reappeared before the speeding Levi, caught him by the neck and on one smooth motion, slammed him to the ground.
The world exploded with cataclysmic shockwaves as space moved to fill in the vacuum left by Kaal’s movement, and the impact with which Kaal slammed Levi to the ground.
The devastating shockwave tore apart everything in its path, even trees were uprooted, not to mention shrubs that were completely erased.
"OOOH, THAT’S GOT TO HURT!!" The commentator winced in faux pity, evoking laughter from the spectators and audiences.
Levi meanwhile, spat out a mouthful of blood at the violence with which he had been slammed to the ground. But still, without hesitation, he commanded the sky to let a myriad number of lightning bolt fall on both himself, and Kaal who still held him by the neck.
Three tore through the sky at once, heading to strike them, but another blood river materialized above them both and tanked the attack.
Crackling arcs of lightning also burst out from Levi’s body, aiming to sound, or at least paralyze the demon Prince, but another volume of blood materialized and covered Kaal like a second skin, before moving to capture Levi in a blood cocoon.
Before the cocoon could completely form around Levi however, five more bolts of lightning roared through the air and fell on the blood river above them, taking Kaal’s attention for a split second, giving Levi the time he needed to slip away.
His body turned into a bolt of lightning, and he vanished in a flash.
"Hah!" Kaal let out a breath under the continuous assualt of the lightning bolts on his blood river.
The only troublesome thing about Levi was being able to turn into a bolt of lightning. Though, Kaal was still faster of he wanted to be, he was two ranks above Levi after all. He had even displayed how fast he could be when he caught Levi by the neck earlier.
The moment Levi reform from a bolt of lightning in the distance, Kaal instantly willed blood to from around the boy, catching him off guard.
The blood held both his legs, and his entire lower body, then hardened instantly, keeping him firmly rooted in place.
A frown crept onto Levi’s face as he attempted to turn into a bolt of lightning, but before he could, Kaal was already before him, half the length of his blood red spear stuck inside Levi’s chest and emerging from behind him.
A concussive shockwave blasted outward and the earth at Kaal’s earlier spot caved in as an aftermath of his speed.
Blood burst forth from Levi’s mouth in uncontrollable gurgle.
"You persisted longer than I expected." Kaal muttered, as he drew out his spear from Levi’s form, and willed the blood holding Levi in place to liquefy once more.
The moment that happened, Levi fell with his back to the ground, creating a small gust of debris.
"EXTRAORDINARY!!!! PHENOMENAL!!!! WHAT A FLASHY START TO THE TOURNAMENT!!! THE CRIMSON MONARCH, THE BLOOD PRINCE, HE HAS TAKEN THE WIN AS EXPECTED!!!!
THE HEIR OF STORMS HAS FALLEN, THE BLOOD PRINCE WINS!!!!!!"
The demons mirrored the commentator’s enthusiasm as they shouted and jubilate in joy. In the battle between lightning and blood, blood had come out as the winner.
"How well do you think Levi fared against that demon?" Rose asked Anastasia.
"He didn’t fare well to be frank." Anastasia frowned. "If the demon wanted, he could have ended the fight in a few seconds."
"That bad huh?" Delilah muttered from the side. "How would you fare?" She asked.
Anastasia smiled.
"I do not know." She shook her head. "I’ll only know when I face him."
"Wow, this is the first time I’ve heard you not say ’I’d win’ when asked on your chances against someone." Delilah muttered in surprise.
"So what?" Anastasia shrugged. "I would know if I could beat him when we eventually face each other. But first, I have to deal with that bastard." Anastasia glared in the direction of a certain disguised prince.
At another side of the platform, Ivis and Mayura were also contemplating the same, if either of them could really be at Kaal, after all, Ivis had fought him before.
"Even though I haven’t seen his full strength, I’m still confident I could beat him if I went all out." Ivis muttered.
"You better." Mayura snorted.
"FOR OUR NEXT MATCH UP, WE HAVE THE SUMMONING PRINCESS, THE LADY OF SUMMONS, THE BELOVED HEWEL OF THE DEMON EMPIRE, ISOLDE VON SANGUINE!!!!!!!"
The commentator was especially hyped about calling Isolde, even more than he was when calling out Kaal.
"AND FACING HER, WE HAVE... UHHH... WHAT’S YOUR NAME, KID?"
