"I believe a minute has been exhausted, hasn’t it, princess?" Damon asked with a smirk.
Isolde didn’t reply, she was unwilling to just accept defeat, but she knew she had no choice, she couldn’t so much as scratch this human even while going almost all out, when he was doing nothing but dodging.
Isolde knew her chances of beating him would be next to zero when he decided to fight back, so she had no choice but to admit defeat. After all, she had already agreed to his offer in front of the entire world, and unless she was willing to be as unscrupulous as a human before the entire world, she wouldn’t go back on her word.
’It will all remain in your hands, uncle.’ Isolde thought, and made her decision.
"Fine." She withdrew her fist from Damon’s grasp, which he allowed. "I forfeit this match." Isolde muttered to the surprise of almost everyone present.
"WINNER OF THE MATCH, THE IMPOSTER AMONG US!!" The commentator announced much less enthusiastically.
"What???? She forfeited just like that?!" Dion exclaimed. He couldn’t believe that the demon princess forfeited just like that. In fact, he fully expected her to go back on her words.
"Hmph, not everyone is as dishonest as you humans." A demon snorted at Dion.
"There is no dishonesty in war." Aric quipped back at the demon. "If I were the one, there is no way in hell I would forfeit."
The youths on the platform soon broke into an argument on the matter. However, they kept it strictly at that, after all, they all knew that trying to attack someone else would get one disqualified.
Damon would have to win six consecutive matches if he wanted to claim the title of champion. His first match ended as an overwhelming victory against Isolde, which increased the popularity of his otherwise unknown self.
In bars and clubs all over the Nahaar, people began to place bets. Most humans on placed their bets between Alistair and Damon, and some even better on Kaal. Not only that, some demons, elves, and merfolk also better on Kaal and Damon.
The gamblers were being realistic, they chased only money, and didn’t care one bit about loyalty to their races.
Anyway, the white light brought Damon back to the platform, only for him to see the youths (humans and demons especially) arguing noisily.
"What happened while I was away?" He muttered, but didn’t get time to dwell on it, as the commentator’s voice ang out once more.
"NEXT UP, WE HAVE VAEL TIDECREST, AGAINST SARAH WHITEWOOD!!!!"
"Yeah, go Vael!" Nyssa exclaimed next to Nymeria.
This time, the fight was between Vael, a merfolk and Sarah, an elf. The bright light relocated both participants to the ground.
As the fight began, Vael’s body always softened like rubber the moment any of Sarah’s attacks landed on him, thereby enabling him to come out unscathed.
In the end, Vael came out on top due to Sarah not being able to land any particularly good attack on him.
The next match was between a demon and a human, the demon vane out on top. A few matches later, another matchup was announced.
"FOR OUR NEXT MATCH, WE HAVE ZERIN CALDERA, AGAINST ROSE DARKFELL!!!"
Zerin was a particularly strong elf, and a noble heir in the elven continent. Though he didn’t see himself as Ivis and Mayura’s equal, he believed he was not far beneath them, after all, he had recently broken through to the Zeta- rank after consuming the fruit of the divine tree.
However, all his delusions were shattered the moment he saw a small red bead appear before his eyes, radiating intense heat. Not a second ago had the commentator declared the fight to begin, and yet, the commentator reappeared before Zerin, and caught the red bead in his hand.
The moment the commentator did that, a muffled explosion and a small shockwave sounded from the grooves of his hand.
"ROSE DARKFELL WINS!!!!"
The commentator exclaimed as if he didn’t just casually stop an attack that could have wiped the whole terrain off the map.
"W...w... what?! I never forfeited!" Zerin exclaimed, but in less than an instant, his form disappeared from the pocket realm.
After Rose’s overwhelming victory, 5he matches continued. Anastasia, Alistair, Fabian, Ivis, Mayura, Namor, Nymeria, all effortlessly won their matches, and so did Aric and Dion.
After a while, the round of sixty four was completed.
"EVERYONE, THE ROUND OF SIXTY FOUR IS OFFICIALLY OVER, AND THE ROUND OF THIRTY TWO WILL BEGIN 7:00 AM TOMORROW, SO, STAY TUNED!!!"
After the words of the commentator, the youths began disappearing from the platform one after the other. A moment later, they all reappeared in the hall they were in before they were transported into the pocket realm.
"BE BACK HERE BEFORE 7:00 AM TOMORROW MORNING!" The commentator’s voice echoed from around the hall.
While the youths were surprised they had been given a break, it wasn’t unwelcomed in the slightest. They began leaving the hall in droves and heading back to their assigned residences.
However, no matter how Ivis and Anastasia looked for a certain someone, he was nowhere to be seen.
Damon had shifted into the mirror dimension the moment the commentator’s voice vanished. He found his way back to the information hub through the mirror dimension, then changed his appearance back to that of the information demon’s.
"So, how did I do?" Damon appeared out of thin air behind the group, startling them shitless, the only one unmoved was Bran.
"What the hell boss?!" Khloe cursed.
"I’d say I performed quite excellently if I do say so myself." Damon replied to his own question.
"Boss, the way you crouched on that massive sword was so cool!" Pixie exclaimed.
"No, it’s the way he stood back to back with her, with his hands in his pockets that looked cooler." Bob argued.
"What about the way he kept dodging all her attacks with only minimal movements?" Alan asked.
"No, you all are wrong, it was the way he was falling during the first phase." Hugo said.
At those words, the others fell into thought for a bit, and the scene of Damon falling through the sky with his hands behind his head, and a book covering his face flashed through their minds.
"While I appreciated all the fanboying, I need you guys to tone it down a little, lest you expose me." Damon interrupted.
"Tone it down a little?" Vera asked turning to him. "Boss never asks us to tone down praises. What have you done with the Boss?"
------------
Meanwhile, while the team were having their time, back with the Alpha rankers, they had watched everything that transpired from Damon tagging Vael, then refusing to tag Rose for no reason whatsoever, then tagging Ivis.
’So he isn’t willing to tag a human, but he’s willing to do so to a member of another race." Ellaria thought with a frown after seeing her son get tagged.
But that wasn’t the end. Their shock had yet to balloon to it’s biggest yet. When Isolde and Damon faced each other, Damon’s offer threw them off.
Rhudeus even turned to the humans in the room. "Who is that human boy really? Does he think my granddaughter is so weak she couldn’t beat him if he doesn’t fight back?"
"How can I tell? I’m sitting here with you, aren’t I?" Sevas shrugged.
Rhudeus said nothing more, and everyone continued watching as the match began. How effortlessly Damon was dodging Isolde’s attacks. Not once did he block, and not once did he raise his hands to party, all he did was dodge.
They watched as Damon constantly disappeared from Isolde’s sight, giving him more than enough time to end her if he so wished.
’This kid...’ Rhudeus realized. ’...He could probably go toe to toe with kaal.’ He grinned. ’And honestly, that would not be a bad thing.’ Rhudeus thought.
Kaal had been untouchable among his peers since he was a child. And it only grew more absurd after he awakened. So, it wouldn’t be a bad thing for one of his peers to at least compete with him on an even level, if only for a little while.
As for Kaal getting defeated, Rhudeus hadn’t even factored that in his thoughts, because that was impossible, at least according to him. His son would win the convergence, it was only a matter of time.
Soon, the match between Isolde and Damon ended. A few matches later, they witnessed the instantaneous match between Rose and Zerin.
Ellaria turned to Amon with a distasteful expression.
"What should I have expected, your daughter is extremely vicious, just like you are."
"I appreciate the complement, that is how it is supposed to be." Amon replied indifferently.
"Hahahaha, that is right." Sevas laughed. "I also teach my daughter to be as vicious as she can be."
"You two are hopeless." Alexa shook her head at the side.
