The Exiled Alpha's Human Male Mate.[BL]
Chapter 82: Power Unlock: Dominant Omega."I’m sorry. I know I’m confusing you instead of explaining everything logically," Agatha said, lowering herself to the floor as though she had grown too tired to remain standing.
Bryce stayed where he was, looking down at her.
"As I mentioned earlier, Alpha Vincent was the only Alpha the Moon Goddess believed she could rely on to bring the wolf world back into order. But when he lost his way, just like everyone else, she began searching for another option. She couldn’t find one."
Bryce’s expression tightened.
"So she decided she needed to create one.
She wanted a pure soul. Perhaps a baby who would be born with power far greater than that of the Alphas, someone who could be raised with the right values and taught how to use that power without abusing it. Someone who could eventually stand above even the Alphas and judge their actions when necessary."
Bryce said nothing, letting her continue without interruption.
"But because she still couldn’t find anyone better suited than Alpha Vincent, especially when his mistakes were partly the result of manipulation, she decided to use him anyway.
Her original plan was to give him a female mate, a woman who would be suitable for the role, someone capable of bringing him back to his senses and helping him carry out the Moon Goddess’s will. Together, they would have the child she wanted.
But while she was still searching for the right woman, you were born."
Bryce’s body stiffened slightly.
"You were an innocent baby, mistreated from the moment you entered this world. As I told you before, the Moon Goddess saved you and watched over you as you grew up in the human world.
This world is not free from corruption either, humans too commit terrible things, just as werewolves do. Yet despite everything that surrounded you, and what you experienced, you didn’t allow yourself to become consumed by those things."
Bryce couldn’t help wondering why, if the Goddess had truly been watching over him all this time, she had allowed Dave to manipulate him and use him so cruelly.
And if she had always had plans for his life, why had she allowed him to fall in love with a human in the first place?
The questions gnawed at him, but he kept them to himself, choosing instead to let Agatha explain everything she had come to tell him.
"The Moon Goddess also began to notice something she had never established in our world, the love that existed between people of the same gender. Men loving men. Women loving women. She had never considered that possibility before because it simply wasn’t something that existed among us in the same way.
And she asked herself, why not?
Why not choose you for Alpha Vincent instead? But not as normal humans,"
Agatha continued.
"She intended your circumstances to be different. She planned to give you the ability to conceive despite being a man, and give birth to the child she had originally intended Vincent to father.
And now you’re carrying that child."
Bryce’s breath caught, his heart suddenly racing as though he were only just discovering that he was pregnant.
"And along with the ability to give birth, the Moon Goddess gave you the power your child will eventually possess. In simple terms, you’ll carry out the role your child was meant to fulfill until he is born, grows into his power, and eventually succeeds you.
I mentioned the wrath earlier,.. it is due during the next full moon. You’ll need to be there."
"I wouldn’t have even given birth by then, would I?" Bryce asked after remaining silent for so long. "Doesn’t the full moon appear every month?"
Agatha nodded.
"I know you won’t have given birth yet, but that won’t affect the baby or you."
Bryce sighed, massaging his temples again.
He was tired of fighting every impossible thing that kept being placed in front of him.
Everyone seemed determined to take control of his life and decide what he was supposed to become, from Vincent and Dave to the strange world he had only recently discovered. Now even the Goddess they claim exists was apparently part of it.
But if the goddess truly existed, and if she had watched him after he was discarded, and decided that he deserved to rise among the very people who had once considered him worthless, perhaps he could accept some of what she wanted from him.
"Alpha Vincent was supposed to take that place, but as I said, he lost his way. Instead, that responsibility was given to you. Although he is still supposed to return with you and become the Alpha of his pack, but even him will ultimately be under your authority, just like all the other alphas.
His father and younger brother are the ones making the wolf world even worse- taking territory from other packs and enslaving them." Agatha continued, "That is why Vincent is needed there as well.
All your powers will awaken tonight. The full moon is already out."
Bryce’s stomach tightened.
"I’m not feeling anything," he said.
He had expected something dramatic to happen the moment the moon rose, but there was nothing he could identify as a transformation.
He only felt the same restless sensation that had been troubling him for hours, along with the relentless heat beneath his skin. He had become so accustomed to it that he barely considered it anymore.
Agatha gave him a tired look.
"That’s because I’m holding it back."
Bryce stared at her blankly.
"I’m using my powers to prevent your transformation from happening until you understand what you’re supposed to expect."
Bryce looked at her more closely-
So that was why she had suddenly seemed exhausted. Why she had lowered herself to the floor. Why she looked increasingly drained with every passing minute?
She was using her power on him.
He wanted to tell her to stop.
The words almost reached his lips, but the thought of what might happen if she did made him swallow them instead.
He had spent the entire day dreading the full moon, and now that it had arrived, he still wasn’t remotely prepared for what was supposed to happen.
And apparently, the transformation wasn’t even the only thing he had to worry about.
"There’s a lot you’ll be doing during that wrath," Agatha began.
Bryce glanced at her.
The strain in her face was becoming impossible to ignore. Her features had tightened, and there was something almost painful in the way she held herself.
"You can stop holding it back," he said without a second thought. "You can tell me the rest after tonight."
He hadn’t thought the decision through. He only knew that watching her exhaust herself to keep something inside him from happening was becoming harder than facing whatever that something was.
He swallowed as the panic inside him deepened.
But instead of doing as Bryce had asked, Agatha continued speaking.
"There’s something else you need to know. You marked the new generation."
"What?"
"The generation that comes after you will be one in which male omegas can conceive and carry children. That means the Moon Goddess will begin assigning mates of the same gender.
After all, it wasn’t just once that she witnessed people of same in the wolf world finding comfort, connection, and affection in one another, but because such relationships were unheard of among us, they didn’t understand what those feelings meant. She didn’t understand them either.
But now she does. These new bonds will make those feelings impossible to mistake. The pull between them will be undeniable, leaving them with no doubt about what they want from one another."
Jeez...
Bryce didn’t even know what to make of that.
It wasn’t just his own life that was being turned upside down anymore. Somehow, whatever happened to him was going to affect people who hadn’t even been born yet.
The thought was almost too much to grasp.
"Oh, by the way, when Alpha Vincent was exiled by his own father because he didn’t have his true mate to give him an heir who could eventually succeed him, the Moon Goddess was the one who led him directly to the human world because she wanted him to find you."
Agatha added, as she forced herself back onto her feet. Her movement was noticeably slower this time, and Bryce could see the effort it took her.
"Okay, I’ll now teach you how to control your wolf first. You need to learn how to keep yourself from being consumed by your hunting instincts and tearing apart everyone around you."
Bryce stilled...
So Leah hadn’t been joking.
During the full moon, he really could be consumed by hunting instincts to the point of killing even a human being?
The realization terrified Bryce as though he were only now discovering what the night could turn him into.
"Once everything has settled, I’ll explain what will be expected of you during the wrath."
Bryce took a slow heavy breath as Agatha finally straightened.
