The Exiled Alpha's Human Male Mate.[BL]

Chapter 83: A Wolf That Can Leave It’s Owner’s Body.

"Your heart is racing with fear. You need to regulate it," Agatha said, her voice soft but increasingly urgent as her own composure to deteriorate further.

The effort of restraining Bryce’s wolf was clearly taking a toll on her, her breathing growing heavier as she struggled to maintain the control she had exerted over him. "Your wolf could mistake your fear for danger and attack anyone around you."

Bryce couldn’t help it.

Panic had already taken hold of him, and the harder he tried to suppress it, the more violently his body seemed to respond.

His heartbeat pounded against his ribs, his breathing came faster with every breath, and the muscles throughout his body had begun to tense.

"I also need you to understand that your wolf is not an enemy," Agatha added, "It is another part of you, and you must make it understand that you are the one who decides when it acts. You have to discipline it until it understands that it can never act when you haven’t given it permission to act."

"How am I supposed to do that?"

The question came out louder and more unsteadily than Bryce intended. He heard the panic in his own voice and hated how little control he seemed to have over anything anymore.

"Command it. Tell it that you are the one who decides whether you will hunt or not. Find something that grounds both you and..."

She suddenly stopped mid-sentence, her strength finally giving out as she collapsed onto the floor and went completely still.

A searing pain instantly ripped through Bryce’s body.

His knees buckled and he crashed onto the floor with a strangled groan.

The pain seemed to originate deep within his spine before spreading outward, racing through his limbs and forcing every muscle to seize.

His hands clawed against the floor as an unbearable pressure built beneath his skin, followed by a sickening sensation of his bones shifting against one another.

Bryce couldn’t understand what was happening to him.

His spine seemed to pull and lengthen, each vertebra grinding painfully as his body began forcing itself into a shape it had never possessed before.

It wasn’t merely pain; it was the horrifying sensation of his entire physical structure being dismantled and rearranged while he remained conscious enough to feel every second of it.

"Wha... what is this...?"

His voice dissolved into another groan as his body convulsed.

"Agatha!"

The sight of her unconscious body sent Bryce’s panic spiralling further. His chest heaved as he struggled for breath, he tried to drag himself toward her despite the agony tearing through him, only for another violent contraction to seize his body and force him back down.

"What is happening to me?" he groaned, his voice breaking beneath the pain. "Am I gonna die?! Agatha!"

A sharp knock suddenly struck the door.

The sound startled him, though it seemed strangely distant, as if it were coming from somewhere far beyond the room.

"Man, you okay in there?" a man’s voice called from the other side.

"Yes! Go away!"

Bryce knew the lie was useless the moment it left his mouth. His voice was strained and breathless, and there was no way anyone outside could believe he was fine.

"You don’t sound okay, man. I’m gonna come in."

A woman’s voice immediately followed.

"What if he’s trying to kill himself? Should we call 911?"

"I told you I’m fine! Go away!"

Bryce forced himself to move, dragging his body across the floor until he reached the door. His fingers shook so badly that it took several attempts before he managed to lock it, and once he did, he sagged against it, breathing heavily as another wave of pain passed through him.

"Agatha."

He turned and crawled back toward her.

"Agatha?" another voice murmured from outside.

"Oh my God, I think he’s having sex. Those sounds are definitely moans, and he just called out a woman’s name. We’re probably bothering them."

"Why is he so loud, then?" a man asked. "Is this how we’ll be living from now on?"

"I don’t think those sounds are moans. We seriously should check if there’s something else happening in there."

"Stop bothering us!" Bryce yelled.

The hostility in his voice startled him.

There was something different about it now. His voice carried a weight that hadn’t been there before.

"Get away from my door!"

"Alright, man. Just keep it a little low. We have kids next door," the irritated man answered.

Bryce ignored him. His attention had returned entirely to Agatha, whose unconscious body remained motionless on the floor.

"Agatha..."

He shook her shoulder.

Nothing.

"Agatha!"

Still nothing.

His vision changed again.

The same strange colours that had appeared at the hospital flooded his sight, purple bleeding into amber until the entire room seemed to exist beneath an unnatural haze.

Instinct to run surged through him with such overwhelming force that for one terrifying moment, he nearly obeyed it without thinking. His body wanted to flee, but he knew what that instinct meant.

He would attack and hunt, his animal side was taking over him.

He squeezed his eyes shut and fought to hold onto himself.

"The moon may awaken me, but it does not command me," he muttered, desperately searching for something strong enough to ground him.

"The moon may awaken me, but it does not control me!"

He repeated them more firmly, forcing his voice through the panic.

"I am in control of myself! The beast inside me is under my control! You are under my control! I give the order!"

He repeated the words again and again, each repetition becoming less like reassurance and more like a command directed at the creature fighting its way through him.

He clung to the mantra as the pain continued to tear through his body, refusing to let the growing instinct drown out his own thoughts.

And then, out of nowhere, the pressure that had been building inside him concentrated around his chest and spine, becoming so intense that Bryce cried out.

It felt as though something enormous had been compressed inside his body and was now breaking free.

His body was violently thrown to the side as the pressure released.

For one final moment, pain ripped through every part of him.

Then it stopped.

Bryce collapsed against the floor, breathless and completely drained of energy, his body trembling from the aftermath. He could barely lift his head, let alone open his eyes.

A sudden gasp broke through the silence.

"Oh, Moon Goddess!"

Bryce’s eyes snapped open at the sound of Agatha’s voice.

He turned toward around and his entire body went rigid.

A huge animal was standing beside him.

A wolf.

Bryce stared, unable to make sense of what he was seeing.

The creature was enormous, its body covered in thick white and purple fur that gave it an almost otherworldly beauty, but there was nothing tame about the way it carried itself.

Its lowered head, alert posture and purple-gold glowing revealed a fierce nature.

Agatha stared at the creature as though she had witnessed something that should have been impossible, her face drained of what little composure she had left.

"Your wolf can leave your body?!"

The disbelief in her voice was unmistakable.

She stared between Bryce and the white-and-purple wolf, unable to reconcile what she was seeing with everything she had apparently known about werewolves.

Bryce couldn’t answer her.

He could barely comprehend it himself.
