The Exiled Alpha's Human Male Mate.[BL]
Chapter 85: Unless The Feelings Are Genuine.Agatha began explaining without hesitation.
"The Moon Goddess believes these people now need someone powerful and visible among them, someone whose very existence will make them believe that she is real and that she has been the one giving all those orders they chose to ignore and refuse to follow.
She cannot come down here herself, so she is giving you and your baby the power to accomplish what she could have done even without being here."
Bryce stared at her, momentarily confused by the weight of her words. Was he some kind of mini goddess now?
He immediately forced the thought from his mind. At the children’s home, they had been taught that calling yourself God was blasphemy, and he certainly wasn’t about to start thinking of himself as some divine being simply because he had been given extraordinary powers.
He was Bryce.
Just Bryce, with some extraordinary power.
"The Moon Goddess is going to release a very severe, fierce, and painful disease," Agatha continued, "And you will be the one controlling it until everything settles back into normalcy and the world becomes quiet again, with everything restored to order.
The disease was the best choice because wolves rarely become seriously ill. Usually, they may suffer an injury, heal almost immediately, and simply continue with their lives. This time, however, it will be different in a very severe way. Those who are not fortunate enough to receive your mercy will suffer from the disease until they die."
That should have terrified Bryce.
The idea of facing people afflicted with a serious illness and being the one to decide whether they lived or died should have sent another wave of panic through him, but strangely, it didn’t.
He simply listened, his mind absorbing the enormity of what Agatha was telling him with an almost unsettling calm, as though he had reached a point where there was no room left inside him for another reaction.
"The power will allow you to see through everyone’s intentions, thoughts, and everything else about them in a way that even if they confess, repent, and promise never to return to those ways again, you will know whether they are being honest.
You will still be the one who decides whether they deserve a second chance at life based on what they have done before, even if their repentance is genuine and their intentions to live rightly from that point onward are completely honest."
It was too much, but Bryce remained silent, untouched by any sense of dread.
"So basically, during that time, you’ll be judging everyone who is afflicted, deciding who deserves to suffer until they die and who deserves redemption, and those you decide deserve redemption will be healed by you.
Before a person even speaks, you will already know what they have done, which will make it nearly impossible for anyone to hide their crimes from you.
After that, you will decide who rules over each pack and who is stripped of their throne, you will preside over the laws governing all the packs, deciding whether those laws are valid or whether they should be discarded."
She paused only briefly before continuing, as though even she understood how enormous the responsibility sounded when spoken aloud.
"It is going to be a lot, but don’t worry. You won’t be drained simply from carrying out those duties. You have enormous power and strength to sustain you through it all.
But that doesn’t mean you should push yourself beyond your limits. Always remember that you are carrying a life inside you, and that life needs you to rest and relax sometimes."
Agatha fell quiet for a moment before adding, "Unless you have a question, that’s all for now."
Bryce remained silent as well, his mind surprisingly empty of questions despite everything he had just been told.
"How will I find you in case I have a question?" he asked. "I might not have one now, but I could later."
"We have a connection," Agatha answered. "You only need to focus on the fact that you need to communicate with me, and I’ll hear you. You’ll hear me too."
Bryce sighed in relief. At least he wouldn’t be left completely alone with all of this, unable to reach the one person who seemed to have answers to the things that made no sense to him.
"Unless you want to come with me to the wolf world, of course. I would be glad to take you home, alongside Alpha Vincent, because you need him," Agatha added, her tone serious.
"No, I don’t," Bryce answered without hesitation.
He had no desire to go there, atleast not now. Even if he eventually had duties that required him to visit the wolf world, he was certain he wouldn’t remain there permanently.
Perhaps he would go from time to time when necessary, but the place he wanted to return to, the place he considered home, was still the human world where he had grown up.
"Then I suppose I’ll just have to come for you before the next full moon," Agatha said, making no attempt to persuade him otherwise. "I’ll also visit you during the days in between to make sure you and the baby are doing well."
Bryce nodded without a word.
"And don’t you dare ignore what I told you about Alpha Vincent’s pheromones," Agatha added, her voice suddenly carrying a firmness that left no room for argument.
"You need them. Not eventually, not when you feel ready, and not when you decide it’s convenient. You need access to his pheromones from now on, because every day you go without them puts both you and the baby at risk."
Bryce’s expression tightened.
"I meant it. If the baby doesn’t get them, complications will develop-ones that, trust me, you don’t even want to imagine."
Her gaze remained fixed on him as she continued.
"And sometimes your powers may overwhelm you, especially while you haven’t learned how to control them completely. You could become angry, and they could get the better of you. As they settle inside you, you’ll need his pheromones to stabilize you."
"Can I use these powers to prevent the way those pheromones affect me...I uh..." Bryce stumbled over the words, almost embarrassed by the question itself, but forced himself to continue. "You know... sexually?"
"The power can do almost everything. You simply have to summon it and control it.
Although... it can only control those sexual effects if they’re purely mechanical, when it’s simply the effect of the bond. Once real feelings are involved, the power won’t be able to control or prevent them."
Bryce nodded, relief washing through him.
That meant he wouldn’t have to struggle with those overwhelming sexual urges whenever Vincent releases his pheromones.
Whatever the bond itself caused, he could suppress it with his power, and he was certain there were no genuine feelings involved on his part-especially after learning that Vincent had lied to him and manipulated him into believing the pull between them meant something more than the bond.
At least that problem could be controlled.
He would simply block the effects whenever they met.
Or so he thought.
