The Extra Who Inherited Ragnarok
Chapter 112: The Weakness Behind the FlameThe crowd was still roaring.
Laura stood in the center of the arena, breathing heavily after her battle with Christina.
The referee raised her hand.
"WINNER! LAURA ESTERIA OF VALHALLA ACADEMY!"
The Valhalla section erupted.
Laura lowered her weapon.
Her eyes immediately found Noah.
He was standing among the spectators.
Smiling.
She smiled back.
For a few seconds, the noise around them seemed distant.
Then Noah raised his fist.
Laura quietly raised hers.
A tiny gesture.
Nothing more.
But someone was watching.
Alcris.
Alcris sat several rows above the Volstra section.
His notebook was closed.
His eyes remained on Laura.
Then Noah.
Then Laura again.
He had noticed something during the match.
When Laura was struck...
Noah’s power reacted.
Not dramatically.
Not enough for the crowd to notice.
But enough for Alcris.
His perception had caught it.
A brief surge.
A pulse through Noah’s entire body.
His fire had responded to Laura’s danger before Noah consciously reacted.
Alcris leaned back.
"So that’s one of them."
A second voice interrupted him.
"One of what?"
Alcris looked to his side.
Ren Varis.
His teammate.
Alcris smiled.
"Nothing."
Ren looked toward the arena.
"You’re always saying that."
"Because there’s usually nothing."
Ren didn’t seem convinced.
But he didn’t press.
Down in the arena, Laura approached Noah.
"You looked worried."
"I was."
She raised an eyebrow.
"I thought you trusted me."
"I do."
"Then?"
"You getting thrown across the arena isn’t exactly relaxing."
Laura laughed softly.
"I handled it."
"I saw."
Noah looked at the cut on her cheek.
"Still..."
Laura touched it.
"It’s nothing."
Noah shook his head.
"You and I need to stop saying that."
Laura smiled.
"Maybe."
Then she noticed Noah’s expression.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"You looked serious."
Noah glanced toward Alcris’s section.
"He’s watching."
Laura followed his gaze.
Alcris was already looking away.
"He always is."
Noah frowned.
"I don’t know what he wants."
Laura’s voice became quieter.
"Neither do I."
The next match began.
The projection displayed:
REINHAM EDGA
ELEMENTRO ACADEMY
VS
HASTRAL
ASGARD ACADEMY
The crowd erupted.
Reinham walked onto the battlefield with his usual confidence.
Hastral followed quietly.
Unlike Jordan, Hastral didn’t shout.
He didn’t boast.
He simply stood there.
Still.
Calm.
Almost gloomy.
Reinham cracked his knuckles.
"You don’t talk much."
Hastral looked at him.
"No."
Reinham smiled.
"Good."
His eyes sharpened.
"Then let your fists talk."
The referee raised her hand.
"Begin!"
Reinham charged.
Hastral didn’t move.
The distance disappeared.
BOOM!
Reinham’s fist stopped inches from Hastral’s face.
A dark barrier had formed.
Hastral’s eyes remained calm.
Reinham pushed harder.
The barrier cracked.
"Interesting."
Hastral raised one hand.
The darkness beneath Reinham’s feet suddenly moved.
Reinham jumped.
A black spike erupted from the ground.
He twisted in midair.
CRACK!
The spike barely missed him.
The crowd roared.
Reinham landed.
His smile widened.
"So you’re one of those."
Hastral stared.
"One of what?"
"The quiet ones who are secretly terrifying."
Hastral’s expression barely changed.
"Maybe."
Reinham laughed.
"Good!"
His energy exploded.
"I’ve been waiting for someone worth fighting!"
The battle intensified.
Hastral manipulated shadows across the arena.
Reinham shattered them with raw power.
Every exchange became more destructive.
The Elementro crowd screamed his name.
"REINHAM!"
He raised his fist.
"ELEMENTRO!"
The roar became deafening.
Hastral remained silent.
Then Reinham charged again.
This time, Hastral’s darkness wrapped around his arm.
Reinham didn’t stop.
He punched straight through it.
BOOOOOOM!
The shockwave knocked Hastral backward.
He crashed against the arena barrier.
The referee raised her hand.
"WINNER! REINHAM EDGA!"
Reinham raised both fists.
"We win!"
Flora covered her face from the spectator section.
"He’s never going to stop doing that."
John laughed.
"Probably not."
Meanwhile, Noah watched silently.
Jordan stood several seats away.
He had recovered from their earlier fight enough to watch the remaining matches.
He looked toward Noah.
"You know something?"
Noah turned.
"What?"
Jordan nodded toward Reinham.
"He’s going to be a problem later."
Noah smiled.
"I know."
Jordan crossed his arms.
"And Daniela."
Noah looked toward her.
"What about her?"
"She’s watching you."
Noah sighed.
"Everyone is."
Jordan laughed.
"Maybe you’re more interesting than you think."
Noah looked back at the battlefield.
"I’d rather be boring."
Daniela was indeed watching.
But her attention wasn’t on Noah’s strength anymore.
It was on Laura.
She had seen something during Laura’s battle.
That strange violet energy.
The flower symbol from the relic chamber had flashed through her mind again.
Daniela closed her eyes.
A fragment surfaced.
A place she couldn’t remember.
A symbol.
A violet flower.
And a young girl.
Laura.
Daniela’s eyes opened.
"Why do I remember her?"
She looked toward Laura.
Something connected them.
She didn’t know what.
But she intended to find out.
Later that night, Noah returned to the training courtyard.
He stood beneath the moonlight.
He raised his hand.
Orange fire appeared.
He concentrated.
The flame grew.
Then...
A tiny maroon spark emerged.
Noah’s expression hardened.
"Don’t."
The spark remained.
It moved across the flame.
Almost playfully.
Noah clenched his fist.
"You’re not taking over."
The maroon spark disappeared.
For a moment, everything was quiet.
Then the system appeared.
[Ragnarok synchronization increasing.]
Noah stared.
"S- synchronization?"
Another notification appeared.
[User compatibility with Ragnarok: 37%]
Noah’s eyes widened.
"Thirty-seven?"
He had never seen that number before.
Then another line appeared.
[Dead Zone compatibility: UNKNOWN.]
Noah stared at the word.
"Unknown..."
A cold sensation moved through his chest.
The system vanished.
And from somewhere deep inside him came a quiet whisper.
"Keep growing."
Noah froze.
The voice wasn’t threatening.
It wasn’t angry.
It sounded almost...
encouraging.
Noah slowly lowered his hand.
"Dead Zone..."
He looked toward the three moons.
"What are you?"
No answer came.
But across Hildgard, inside a dark room, Alcris was reading an ancient book.
He turned to a page describing power synchronization.
His eyes stopped.
A faint smile appeared.
"Thirty-seven percent."
He closed the book.
"So that’s where you are."
Then his expression became colder.
"Let’s see how high you can climb..."
He looked toward the window.
"...before I take it from you."
