The following morning, the tournament arena had changed again.

The circular battlefield had disappeared.

In its place stood a massive field divided into several zones.

Forests.

Stone platforms.

Open ground.

Small rivers.

And at the center of everything stood five enormous flags.

The crowd immediately understood.

This wasn’t another one-on-one fight.

It was a team event.

The Hildgard representative appeared above the arena.

"Event Three: Team Flag Capture."

The crowd erupted.

"Each academy will select five contestants."

"Your objective is simple."

The five flags illuminated.

"Capture the opposing team’s flag while protecting your own."

Eric grinned.

"Now that’s more like it."

Damien studied the battlefield.

"Don’t underestimate it."

Eric looked at him.

"Why?"

"Because individual strength matters less here."

Damien pointed toward the field.

"Positioning. Communication. Adaptability."

Noah nodded.

"This one is about teamwork."

Laura looked toward him.

"Exactly."

Valhalla’s selected team gathered.

Noah.

Laura.

Luna.

Damien.

And another Valhalla contestant, Marcus Vale.

Eric stood outside the field.

Noah looked at him.

"You’re not participating?"

Eric shrugged.

"Not this one."

He smiled.

"I’ll be cheering."

Noah laughed.

"Try not to scream."

"No promises."

Eric raised both hands.

"GO VALHALLA!"

Noah shook his head.

"See?"

Across the field...

Asgard prepared.

Jordan stood at the front.

Christina beside him.

Adrian and Hastral took the sides.

Joseph remained toward the rear.

Jordan looked across the battlefield.

His eyes found Noah.

He smiled.

"Again."

Adrian sighed.

"Focus."

"I am focused."

"You’re staring at Noah."

"That’s part of my focus."

Christina muttered:

"You’re hopeless."

Elementro’s team entered next.

Reinham.

Flora.

Daniela.

John.

Mira Solenne.

Reinham looked toward the Valhalla formation.

Then toward Asgard.

His fists tightened.

"We win this."

Flora smiled.

"Then make sure you don’t charge ahead alone."

Reinham frowned.

"I know."

John laughed.

"You absolutely don’t."

The starting bell rang.

BOOOONG!

The battlefield exploded.

Teams immediately split.

Some rushed toward the center.

Others stayed behind to defend.

Noah moved with Laura and Luna toward the forest.

Damien remained near the rear.

"Wait."

Noah stopped.

Damien pointed toward the trees.

"Movement."

A shadow flashed between the branches.

Luna disappeared.

A second later...

BOOM!

She struck a contestant from Veynholm Academy out of the trees.

He rolled across the ground.

Luna landed silently.

Noah smiled.

"Nice."

She nodded.

"Two more."

Three figures emerged.

Noah raised his hand.

Fire erupted.

WHOOM!

The contestants scattered.

Laura moved beside him.

"Left."

Noah turned.

A spear came toward his shoulder.

Laura blocked it.

CLANG!

She pushed the attacker away.

Noah countered with a burst of flame.

The contestant flew backward.

They kept moving.

No hesitation.

No unnecessary words.

Their teamwork was becoming natural.

Across the battlefield...

Jordan moved like a storm.

Lightning struck the ground around him as he forced two teams away from Asgard’s flag.

"Come on!"

He laughed.

"You’ll have to do better than that!"

Christina stood behind him.

Her dark energy spread across the ground.

Anyone approaching slowed immediately.

Adrian defended their flag.

Hastral...

Was nowhere to be seen.

Elementro advanced quickly.

Reinham smashed through obstacles.

Flora created platforms.

John cleared their path.

Daniela remained in the center.

Her perception constantly scanned the battlefield.

Then she noticed something.

A strange movement.

Not from an enemy team.

From Asgard.

Daniela’s eyes narrowed.

"Something’s wrong."

Flora looked at her.

"What?"

Daniela stared toward the forest.

"Joseph."

Joseph stood alone.

He wasn’t defending the Asgard flag.

He wasn’t attacking another team.

He was simply watching.

His eyes followed the strongest contestants.

Reinham.

Jordan.

Noah.

Then Laura.

His expression remained unreadable.

A faint black-orange glow flickered around his fingers.

Then disappeared.

He whispered:

"...Not yet."

Noah suddenly stopped.

His chest warmed.

Again.

That strange sensation.

The same one he’d felt beneath the arena.

His eyes moved toward the center of the battlefield.

Something was there.

Something underground.

He could feel it.

Laura noticed his expression.

"Noah?"

He looked toward her.

"I felt it again."

"The thing beneath Hildgard?"

He nodded.

Damien approached.

"Where?"

Noah pointed toward the center.

Damien looked.

"That’s where the central flag is."

Noah’s eyes narrowed.

Before they could move...

A massive explosion erupted across the field.

BOOOOOOM!

The crowd screamed.

Smoke swallowed the center.

A contestant had destroyed part of the battlefield.

Noah immediately ignited his flames.

"Everyone stay together."

Laura nodded.

Luna disappeared into the smoke.

Damien moved behind them.

Then...

A shadow emerged.

Joseph.

He stood several meters away.

His eyes met Noah’s.

For the first time...

Joseph smiled.

Not warmly.

Not arrogantly.

Almost mechanically.

Noah’s flames intensified.

Joseph’s hand slowly lifted.

A faint black-orange light appeared.

Laura stepped forward.

"Who is that?"

Noah didn’t answer.

He couldn’t.

Because something inside Ragnarok had suddenly reacted.

A notification appeared before his eyes.

[Hostile resonance detected.]

Noah’s expression hardened.

Joseph whispered:

"Found you."

And the battlefield disappeared beneath another explosion.

The explosion ripped through the center of the battlefield.

BOOOOOOM!

Smoke swallowed the trees.

Students from several academies were thrown from their positions as chunks of stone crashed across the field.

The crowd screamed.

Noah immediately raised his arm.

A wall of fire erupted in front of his squad.

BOOM!

Debris slammed into it.

Laura shielded Luna.

Damien covered his face.

"Everyone alright?"

"I’m fine," Laura answered.

Luna nodded.

Noah lowered his arm.

His eyes searched through the smoke.

"Where is he?"

Damien looked around.

"Joseph?"

Noah nodded.

The smoke slowly began to clear.

Joseph Yonder was still standing.

He hadn’t moved.

His small hood covered part of his face.

A faint black-orange glow surrounded his right hand.

Laura tightened her grip.

"Who is that guy?"

Damien stared at Joseph.

"Joseph Yonder. Asgard."

Noah’s eyes narrowed.

"He wasn’t attacking the flag."

"No," Damien said.

"He was waiting."

Joseph finally moved.

One step.

Then another.

His eyes remained fixed on Noah.

"You felt it."

Noah frowned.

"Felt what?"

Joseph didn’t answer.

Instead, black-orange energy gathered around his arm.

Noah’s flames ignited.

Laura stepped beside him.

"We’re not letting him through."

Joseph looked at her.

For a moment, his eyes shifted.

Then he looked back at Noah.

"Move."

Noah shook his head.

"No."

Joseph disappeared.

BOOM!

He appeared directly in front of Noah.

Noah blocked the strike.

The impact sent him sliding backward.

Laura immediately attacked from the side.

Joseph twisted away.

Her blade missed by inches.

He landed behind her.

Luna appeared from the shadows and struck.

Joseph blocked.

The three exchanged positions rapidly.

Damien watched.

"He isn’t trying to capture the flag."

Noah blocked another attack.

"What?"

Damien’s eyes narrowed.

"He’s testing us."

Joseph suddenly stopped.

His gaze remained on Noah.

"Again."

Noah’s expression hardened.

"You’re weird."

Joseph’s black-orange energy intensified.

"And you’re hiding something."

Noah’s heart skipped.

For a moment, the world seemed quieter.

The familiar pressure returned.

Heat spread through his chest.

His vision blurred.

A faint maroon color appeared across his pupils.

Joseph noticed.

His expression changed.

There.

That was what he had been looking for.

He stepped forward.

Noah’s flames suddenly erupted.

WHOOM!

Joseph was forced backward.

The crowd erupted.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!"

"NOAH’S POWER CHANGED!"

"LOOK AT HIS EYES!"

Laura immediately looked at Noah.

She saw the maroon tint.

Her expression tightened.

"Noah."

He heard her.

Barely.

The strange voice inside him whispered.

"Let me handle him."

Noah clenched his teeth.

"No."

Joseph stared.

"What did you say?"

Noah shook his head.

"Nothing."

The flames around him returned to normal.

Joseph’s eyes narrowed.

He had seen enough.

A loud bell suddenly rang.

BOOOONG!

The tournament system announced:

"Central zone interference detected."

"All contestants return to designated positions."

The battlefield barriers activated.

A wall of energy separated the competing groups.

Joseph stepped backward.

His black-orange aura disappeared.

Noah stared at him.

"You aren’t fighting for the flag."

Joseph remained silent.

"Then what do you want?"

Joseph turned.

"Not here."

He walked away.

Noah watched him disappear into the smoke.

Laura came to his side.

"You okay?"

Noah nodded.

"Yeah."

She looked directly into his eyes.

"Your eyes changed again."

Noah looked away.

"I know."

Laura lowered her voice.

"Don’t let it take control."

Noah nodded.

"I won’t."

But neither of them noticed Daniela standing across the battlefield.

She had seen everything.

Her perception had activated the instant Noah’s eyes changed.

She couldn’t identify the power.

She couldn’t name it.

But she had seen the structure beneath his flames shift.

Daniela whispered:

"...That’s not normal."

The event resumed.

The remaining contestants returned to their positions.

But the atmosphere had changed.

Everyone had seen Noah’s strange transformation.

Rumors spread through the arena.

Some thought it was a hidden technique.

Others thought it was a temporary enhancement.

Nobody knew the truth.

Nobody except Laura.

And even she only knew part of it.

At the Asgard section, Jordan looked toward Joseph.

"What the hell were you doing?"

Joseph didn’t answer.

Christina studied him.

"You abandoned the objective."

Joseph finally looked at her.

"I had another objective."

Jordan frowned.

"What?"

Joseph walked past him.

"Nothing you need to know."

Jordan’s expression darkened.

Nobody spoke to him like that.

But before he could respond...

Hastral quietly said:

"Leave him."

Jordan looked at him.

"Why?"

Hastral’s eyes followed Joseph.

"Because something is wrong."

The final whistle sounded.

The team event continued without another incident.

But Noah’s team managed to secure their flag and finish the event successfully.

Valhalla placed fourth.

Asgard took first.

Elementro second.

Milgard third.

The rankings shifted again.

But nobody in the Valhalla section cared much about the score.

Noah sat quietly.

Laura remained beside him.

She looked at his hand.

"You’re bleeding."

Noah looked down.

A thin line of blood ran between his fingers.

He wiped it away.

Laura sighed.

"Again."

Noah smiled faintly.

"Again."

Above them, the three moons slowly emerged as evening arrived.

And beneath Hildgard...

Something pulsed.

Once.

Twice.

Then stopped.

Far away, Joseph stood alone beneath a divine tree.

He looked at his hand.

A faint black-orange glow appeared.

Then a voice echoed in his memory.

A voice he believed belonged to someone he trusted.

"Find Noah Blackwood."

Joseph closed his fist.

"I will."

He didn’t know...

that the voice had never belonged to the person he thought it did.
