The First Legendary Beast Master

Chapter 1976: A Right Proper Party

Karl returned to the party with the Supremes, and found that the whole concept of building alliances and holding formal negotiations had been forgotten, in favour of turning the party into a proper party.

Someone had even brought a whole troupe of bards to accompany Tian on stage.

They were actual Elders of one of the Sects, not the illusions that Opal had created at the start to set the mood. It was an excellent sign, Karl thought.

If people were willing to relax enough to hold a proper party, they were not going to get super formal and envious about the Supremes that the Darklight Host had taken in. As long as the mood remained cordial, they would see the Guild as less of a threat, and more of a neutral gathering point where all could come to get the gear that they needed.

That was what the Darklight Host needed at this point. War was bad for business.

Even the Yizimon Clan was there, and Karl realized that the next afternoon was their dedicated day for running the mining dungeon.

"Karl, perfect timing. Do you have a moment to discuss the dungeon? We were thinking of a small change."

Karl nodded, and led them to the same side room he had just exited.

"I do hope that you’re not planning to end our alliance. That has been working out well for both groups, I thought." Karl began.

"Not at all. What we were thinking was that we could likely split your group. Instead of doing one Dungeon with so much firepower, it would be possible to more slowly do multiple instances, or to have only a small group come to do the dungeon.

With this increase in your crafting group and the subsequent increase in workload, I understand that it’s not going to be feasible to keep sending so many of your Elders to the dungeon every week."

Karl considered the options. "I can adjust the team week to week, and we can set the same conditions. There are only a few members that need to be along so that we can do enough mining to make the trip worth it.

Either myself, or the Forest Trickster would be best to make the illusionary miners. But we can substitute that with a Supreme Ranked item that has the same effect.

If we do it that way, I only need to send enough people to clear the bosses, and then the rest will sort itself out at the end.

That will also give your people a bit more time to mine, though if we’re doing one boss at a time, it will increase the risk that they get jumped by one of the others."

The Yizimon Clan Elders chuckled. "Well, you can likely help with that as well. We have been stockpiling resources for a larger purchase, and we would like to commission a pair of Supreme Ranked weapons for Mage Class Elders in our Clan.

With the improved bonuses and damage from such a treasure, they will be able to keep a mining group safe on their own.

And with a bit more gear, I think that we will be able to develop another team that is capable of clearing the dungeon on their own. We have developed a technique for it, that only fights one boss at a time with over ninety percent success rate.

Now that we’ve started doing it that way, it’s less of a race to finish, and more of a matter of skill and patience."

"Oh, that is excellent news. And not just because it will give you more resources to purchase our gear with."

The Yizimon Elders laughed at Karl’s response.

The Darklight Host came along once a week and mined out the dungeon, which had seemed like a dream to them only a few weeks ago. But now they were able to send their Elders in two different teams to clear the dungeon, and get all the loot for themselves, though it took most of the day.

"There is one more item that we would like to get. Would it also be possible to get an item that makes those solid illusions? The Dwarves that you use to mine the dungeon?"

Karl frowned. If he started giving those out, wouldn’t it cut into their own returns in the dungeon? The only reason they did so well was because the mining team was limited in their clearance rates. If they improved the Yizimon Clan’s ability to clear the mines, they would definitely be losing out.

The Elders saw his reluctance, and decided to bring out their best negotiation tactic.

"We can alter the agreement a little. You don’t actually need our people, as you well know. So, we are willing to alter the deal to give the Darklight Host once weekly access to the dungeon unsupervised, on top of the weekly run that your members do to assist ours in the clearance."

Now that was a much better deal in Karl’s opinion.

They wouldn’t have to worry much about the mining for the clearance with the Clan if they were getting a free run by themselves.

Feigning reluctance, Karl paused, then nodded in acceptance. "Alright, I can agree to that. One run by the existing arrangement, and one with just my members. If you need additional assistance from our members on top of the once weekly run, it will be on an as available basis.

We may be able to send a few powerful members to do an additional run with your team, though their mining abilities will be limited, so we won’t get much out of it.

But with that arrangement in place, we can make you Immortal Rank mining team stones that will create solid illusions that will help you gather treasures. I’m glad that you understand we are somewhat reluctant to make too many items that might hurt our own interests."

"In that case, we are looking forward to seeing what the Darklight Host can do to assist our Clan in increasing our output.

The Yizimon Clan is quickly becoming a powerhouse of resource production with the clearance technique that your people developed. And now, we will be able to clear the mines more effectively, so our members will have more time to process the raw ore and gems.

Selling them processed and shaped is much more profitable than raw, since so few Clans can do that themselves."

Karl winked at him. "I don’t mind buying and trading for the purely raw materials."

Of course, he didn’t. They were cheaper, and he had a whole Guild of craftsmen to upgrade them.
