The Spirit Immortals were the slowest group by far.
By the time that they had reached the first boss, an Ogre Lord who used an [Earthquake] type ground slam, the fastest groups were already coming out of the dungeon.
"Well, how did it go? What sort of dungeon run did it give you?" Karl asked the first group to exit.
"You don’t know what the dungeon is? You made it." The Elder replied.
"We made it with the ability to randomize the fight. You all should have had a slightly different experience, based on group composition, combat power, chosen difficulty, and the randomly chosen environment that it gave you." Karl explained.
"Oh, now I see what you planned. Alright, we got a mountain cave scenario, underground combat against spiders and some sort of stone skinned dwarves.
I’ve never seen anything like them, but they were tough, and they used earth magic.
The bosses were all Earth Golems, which weren’t too bad, just difficult to damage. Fortunately, we had a spell that limited their effectiveness. It was designed for use against Golem Mages, but it worked well enough on the golem type bosses.
It was a short run, only the two boss fights, but both of them dropped a single Epic Grade item, plus a handful of Rare Grade items. It also let us keep some of the gems and raw materials that we found.
Overall, I would rate this as one of the top dungeons that we have done, both for efficiency and rewards.
Two Epic items in one dungeon is a rare thing."
While they were talking, the first group of Supreme Ranked Clan Leaders to enter came out from their run with exhausted expressions and blood on their armour.
"Good run, gentlemen?" Karl called, waving them over to where he was speaking with the first group.
"Man, that was a terrible call on our part. We got a bit too confident at the start, and thought that setting four should be about right for a group of Clan Leaders.
We were wrong.
From the first pull, it was a nightmare, and even with our combat power, we struggled to kill the mobs before they could regroup and bolster their defences."
Karl frowned. "Regroup? What sort of dungeon did you get?"
"Fucking Elves. Forest Elves, in their native habitat, no less. And pixies. If I never see another pixie rogue it will still be too soon."
Remi giggled at the thought of these men trying to fight off Elven Rangers who were hiding in the trees, while being attacked by pixies. It would be a bit like kicking a hornet’s nest and then trying to recover it while the hornets swarmed.
"Well, at least you had some decent ranged damage dealers with you. If not, fighting against enemies in the trees would have been a real nightmare.
How were the rewards?"
"Not too bad, actually. Three bosses, four Epic Grade Supreme Ranked items, and half a dozen Rare Grade ones, plus a bunch of Immortal Rank drops including a Heart of the Forest gemstone. That one’s got the Druid so happy I think he still might cry."
The druid, who had been offering to go either healing or damage at the start of the run, nodded his head enthusiastically.
"That stone is a wonderful resource for druids and other nature element magic practitioners. Just having it with you buffs your nature element spells, and it can be empowered to have a healing effect."
The thought had Skadi excited too.
She had never seen or heard of a stone like that, but it seemed like just the sort of thing that she would like. If it was a regular drop from similar dungeons she might be able to get someone to trade one for loot from the Darklight Host’s Guild Store, and then she would have one of her own.
Having this new dungeon would bring her all sorts of new experiences, and trinkets for her forest. All on a regular schedule, with predictable drop rates.
Maybe the Haints would like it too?
They were more spirit magic than nature magic, but they were still tree-based lifeforms. So, they should like the same sorts of things that a Forest Lord did.
At least, in Skadi’s mind.
"Well, it appears that the dungeon has been quite reliable in its rewards. It’s a bit of a shame that it didn’t give you a Peerless Grade item on the fourth difficulty, but perhaps that’s a bit of bad luck on your part. It did give you four Epic Grade ones, so it wasn’t being particularly stingy.
That sort of loot rate seems to be better than average for the region, given the dungeons that I’ve been in previously, so I will count that as a victory for the Darklight Dungeon."
The Clan Leaders who hadn’t gone in yet all perked up at the mention of Peerless items.
"That’s a possibility? If the difficulty is high enough, we can actually get Peerless items from the dungeon at our own Rank? That will change everything. Even if we could never afford to purchase one, we could still try to arrange a team strong enough to earn one from the dungeon," one of the leaders rambled, getting more excited by the word.
Then, the man beside him laughed. "And then we would have another Clan war, wouldn’t we? How would you even decide who gets it without a fight?"
Karl shrugged. "The System has a random function for that if you ask. It just rolls dice for everyone and the highest score wins the item."
The Clan Leaders chuckled at his naive take on the situation. No matter who it was assigned to, there was still a very real chance of a Clan war to take it from them.
Karl smiled, an expression that made his human transformation look extremely ominous. "Good point. Supreme Ranked Peerless items are going to be problematic when they appear. Fortunately for everyone, we have a perfectly viable arena here at the Blackwoods Branch of the Darklight Host.
If you should finish a dungeon and feel the need to fight it out over the rewards, you can do so in the safety of the arena, with an impartial arbiter to announce the decision.
No need for it to blow up and cause everyone trouble."
As they spoke, Lotus and the others exited the dungeon, with Ophelia holding up a gigantic club.
"Karl! We did it, we got the good loot!"
Everyone turned, expecting a Peerless Grade item, as everyone had been talking about it. Only, what they found was that the Spirit Immortals had gotten an Epic Grade {Club of Nap Time} with a 10 Percent chance to cause a [Sleep] effect when targeting the head.
The item was so ridiculous that the Elders couldn’t help but laugh.
One of the Bloodstrike Jackalopes laughed, and held up a matched pair of swords that had bonus non-elemental damage, as well as a heavy bleed damage effect on them.
"We got lots of good stuff this run. And we didn’t even have to go bother the Lycans at the store for new weapons," she declared.
"Now that’s a good weapon. Lady Rae will be pleased with your gains."
The antlered bunny giggled as she put her new swords away.
"Sister Rae is easy to please. All you have to do is wear the costumes she makes, and her whole day is improved."
That would explain why the Jackalopes were in silk and leather instead of heavy armour that most Blood Knights would wear.
