The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 213 - 121: "There Are More Friends Coming?「The day of the ball arrived.」
The first light of dawn broke through the darkness, awakening the vibrant hustle and bustle of Old Mundo City.
After waking, Eleanor pulled open the curtains and stretched languidly. She arched her supple body as if embracing the sunlight. Her eyes narrowed contentedly, a satisfied smile gracing her rosy cheeks. Her thin, short nightgown rode up with the movement, revealing the pale, slender curve of her waist.
It was clear she had slept soundly and was in an excellent mood.
Eleanor quickly washed up in the bathroom, then went to get Sean for breakfast.
She knocked softly on Sean’s door. "Are you awake?"
"Yeah," Sean’s voice came from inside. "I’m just getting dressed. Why don’t you go get Teacher Tony and the others first?"
"Okay~" Eleanor replied, walking off with a spring in her step.
’There were two suites for the six of them, so it should have been three people in each. But Tony and the others never moved into this one. They probably think there’s something going on between me and Sean, so they’re deliberately giving us space to be alone. What a huge misunderstanding... Still, it’s actually kind of nice. Fewer people means more quiet, and I like quiet.’ So she didn’t bother to explain.
’Let them think what they want. My conscience is clear.’
’Besides, it’s not like I’m losing out on anything, hee hee.’
Eleanor went to the room next door and knocked.
"Teacher Tony, Kave... Time to get going!"
After speaking, Eleanor waited by the door.
But after several seconds, there was no response from inside.
’Are they not up yet?’ Eleanor wondered. She hesitated, unsure if she should knock again. It would be rude to wake them if they were still asleep.
Sean, however, wasn’t so considerate.
’They’re all friends, why stand on ceremony?’
When he saw Eleanor hadn’t come back, he figured Tony and the others probably weren’t up yet. He shuffled over in his slippers.
"Let me."
He pulled out a key card and swiped it.
"Hey, wait," Eleanor said.
Her eyes widened slightly in confusion. "How do you have the key card to their room?"
’There were only two cards, and she’d given both to Tony’s group. Where did Sean get one?’
"I got it from the front desk," Sean said.
"The front desk?" Eleanor repeated.
’Why would he get a key card for the room next door from the front desk?’
’So strange.’
In that instant, a dozen possibilities flashed through Eleanor’s mind, and the way she looked at Sean became strange.
Sean chuckled. "What are you thinking about? You didn’t actually believe me, did you?"
"I did," Eleanor said. "We checked in together, so the front desk has your information on file. If you told them you lost your key card, they’d definitely give you a new one."
"Hm, you’re right. If I had asked, they definitely would have given me one." Sean tilted his head, mimicking her. "But what if I told you I didn’t go, and that this is actually the key card for our room?"
Eleanor: "?"
"Then how can you open the door?"
As she spoke, she leaned closer to Sean to get a look. It really was their own key card. She pouted. "You’re just messing with me."
"Not at all," Sean said. "Normally, this card wouldn’t be able to open the door. But because you believed it could, it did."
Sean swiped the card as he spoke.
BEEP BEEP... CLICK.
The lock actually clicked open.
Eleanor’s eyes flew wide. "???"
’Did I see that right?’
’How could our key card possibly open the door to Teacher Tony’s room?’
In a very unladylike manner, she snatched the key card from Sean’s hand and inspected it closely. It was their card, no doubt about it.
"How did you do that??"
Eleanor was intensely curious. She guessed Sean had used some kind of Magic, but what kind of Magic could use another person’s "trust" as a "Spell"? Even more incredibly, the Magic had used *her* Magic Power. Eleanor clearly felt a small amount of her own Magic Power drain away. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to prove what Sean had done.
’No wonder Sean said he didn’t need a Magic Wand... other people’s Magic Power is his Magic Power!’
’This man is far more complex than I thought!’
"You wanna know?"
"Yes!"
"I’m not telling you."
Eleanor: "?"
Sean sighed internally. ’What a familiar conversation.’
"Fine, don’t tell me then," Eleanor huffed, pretending she didn’t care.
Sean just smiled and turned to go back to his room and change out of his slippers.
"Hey, hey, wait." It took Eleanor a moment to react. She grabbed his arm. "Aren’t you going to wake them up?"
’There are four guys in there; I’d be embarrassed to go into the bedroom. It’s better if Sean goes.’
Sean sighed. "You’re not very observant."
Eleanor: "?"
’What does he mean, I’m not observant?’
"We’ve been talking out here for ages and they haven’t made a sound. It’s obvious no one’s here," Sean said.
"Tony and the others are all Tier Six Wizards. Their senses are incredibly sharp, and given their sensitive status, they’d never sleep so soundly. A noise like someone ’picking’ the lock on their door would have definitely woken them up."
"The silence means they’re gone. They probably didn’t even come back to the hotel last night."
"Really?" Skeptical, Eleanor extended her Mental Power to check, only to find the bedroom was indeed empty.
Now, the way she looked at Sean changed completely. She was certain now: this guy was definitely not some "rookie." A rookie’s mind wouldn’t work that fast, nor would they know a type of Magic that could be cast using someone else’s Magic Power.
Sean ignored her scrutinizing gaze and yawned. "Well, if they’re not here, they’re not here. Let’s head over first. I’ll text them in a bit and tell them to get here before the ball starts."
Sean suspected the guys were probably out all night at a bar, but he didn’t say so.
Talking about things like that with a girl felt too much like gossiping behind their backs.
