"Oh, right. Speaking of the Holy Sanctuary, there’s something I want to ask you."
"Go ahead."
"Is Her Highness the Saintess planning to go to war with the Church Court?" Sean asked.
The question seemed a bit ridiculous at first—why would someone attack themselves? But considering the current situation, it was the only logical explanation. Why else would the Saintess be recruiting soldiers, testing their abilities, and evaluating their loyalty... In Sean’s view, the so-called Knight Order was created for war.
Laelando was silent for a moment before saying, "I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that."
"But you can ask the Saintess yourself."
"Given your connection to the Holy Sanctuary, she should give you the answer you want."
Sean chuckled softly at his words.
He already had his answer.
The words "you want" had already revealed Laelando’s subconscious bias.
’What did their group of "Holy Temple Remnants" want most?’
’Wasn’t it to rebuild the Holy Sanctuary and restore the former glory of the Hall of Truth?’
Still, there were some things he had to ask this generation’s Saintess in person.
For instance, why had she chosen to inherit the First Saintess’s legacy and be so devoted to the Holy Sanctuary.
And also, had the First Saintess been recreated as well? If so, where was she now?
These questions were all very important.
If possible, Sean wanted to see Olivia.
If for no other reason than for that one line in the history books: "Waiting for your safe return."
Sean was also curious about the choices of the current Saintess.
He had actually thought about this question himself.
Centuries had passed since the Era of Polymath, and there must have been several generations of Saintesses by now. What could possibly make so many successive Saintesses steadfastly adhere to the creed of the First Saintess Olivia, remaining loyal to Carl Black and to the Holy Sanctuary?
Sean thought it over and over, finally arriving at a guess that made his heart pound.
’Back when he and Olivia were fooling around, he was pretty sure they hadn’t used any protection.’
’The subsequent generations of Saintesses... for all he knew, they could be his daughters, granddaughters, great-granddaughters...’
’That was all the more reason to meet her.’
"Besides the Table of Truth, is there any other way to meet the Saintess?" Sean asked.
After reading Laelando’s notes, Sean had lost interest in the Table of Truth. Even the Judges of the Table were ’underclassmen,’ let alone the competition.
’It’s not challenging at all.’
’It would be best if there was a way to meet the Saintess directly. As for cultivation resources... if he could meet the Saintess, why would he worry about those?’
’Her Highness the Saintess is beautiful and kind-hearted, and surely very filial. She would never mistreat her own ancestor.’
"There is a way. I can introduce you to Her Highness the Saintess, but it would have to be after the Table of Truth," Laelando said after some thought. "My advice is that you should still attend the Table of Truth. To Her Highness the Saintess, the Table of Truth is official business, and it takes precedence over everything. It’s the fastest way to meet her. I gather you just don’t want to participate in the competition. I can help you with that."
Sean hesitated. "Wouldn’t that be inappropriate?"
He thought Laelando was offering to pull some strings for him, letting him advance directly or something similar.
’There’s really no need. If it comes down to it, he can just compete. Why ruin the Holy Sanctuary’s reputation over something so trivial?’
"You’ve misunderstood. I meant you could attend the Table of Truth in a different capacity," Laelando said.
Sean didn’t understand. "What do you mean?"
Laelando then took a brooch engraved with a sword and shield from his pocket.
"This is a Judge’s Medal. Take it."
"From now on, you are an honorary Judge for the Table of Truth. Don’t be late."
Sean: "?"
