At this moment, Robert looked incredibly sincere.
Elise, however, just wanted to laugh.
A cold, derisive laugh.
'Nice one, you old coot. It's bad enough you've set your sights on Mr. Blake, but now you want to drag us sisters down with you? You really have a death wish.'
Eleanor, on the other hand, nodded. "Alright. Rest assured, Mr. Robert, we will help when the time comes."
Seeing that the young woman didn't refuse and agreed directly, Robert felt his heart settle. A smile of profound relief, as if a great weight had been lifted, bloomed from the wrinkles on his face, impossible to conceal.
'That little scoundrel Sean, you're dead meat this time!'
"On behalf of the Florist Family, I thank you both!"
Eleanor smiled faintly. "You're too kind, Mr. Robert."
Robert laughed. "Well then, shall we eat?"
The food on the table was getting cold.
Eleanor: "Yes."
Elise had been waiting for this moment.
Setting aside the old man's death wish, the dinner Robert had prepared was actually quite excellent.
There were delicacies from various regions. There were even five types of utensils laid out: a knife and fork, disposable gloves, chopsticks, a spoon, and even a hook... Elise wanted to throw her image to the wind and dig in. She was starving after running around all day. If Sean had been there, she might have eaten him up too.
'Unfortunately, they were darned Grand Mages and had to maintain their elegance.'
Elise wanted to eat everything, but circumstances didn't permit it. In the end, she could only choose one of the five utensils. She elegantly picked up the chopsticks—she'd decided to try something she had never eaten before!
「After the dinner party.」
Her cheeks flushed from a bit of wine, Elise returned to the hotel, holding her sister's arm.
Robert, not knowing their gender or their relationship to one another, had prepared two separate rooms. At home, Elise and Eleanor also slept in their own rooms. Although they were twin sisters, they were adults now, and sleeping together felt a little strange.
But tonight, Elise wanted to sleep beside her sister.
Having just arrived in this strange world, she felt safer next to Eleanor.
On their way back, a small incident occurred.
With so many people on the cruise ship, there were bound to be a few with wild ideas.
Take one young man, for example.
Seeing that Robert wasn't around, he had somehow gotten a bouquet of roses and ran right up to the sisters. Mustering his courage, he shouted, "Lady Maids, please let me be your dog!"
Elise and Eleanor: "?"
'Huh? People here like being dogs, too?'
Elise seemed to have her interest piqued. She said playfully, "Then why don't you bark a few times and let me hear?"
The man thought he had a chance—that he could finally stop working for the next three hundred years. He immediately started barking with all his might: "WOOF WOOF! WOOF WOOF WOOF!"
Then Elise sent him flying to the end of the hallway with a single kick.
"A good dog doesn't block the path."
Eleanor: "..."
She realized her little sister had a truly wicked sense of humor.
'But, she'd done well.'
'If Elise hadn't kicked him, she would have.'
'The old woman had taught them to be polite when speaking with others, but this guy clearly didn't want to be treated like a person, so politeness wasn't necessary.'
Back in their room, Eleanor cautiously used her Magic Power to erect an invisible barrier.
They had left in such a hurry that they hadn't prepared any tools for detecting surveillance devices, so they had to rely on a Wizard's own methods to protect their privacy.
Having put on an act all evening, Elise threw herself onto the sofa, rolled onto her back, and sighed, "Ah, finally free!"
"I really don't know how those noblewomen we used to meet did it, living with that kind of posture every day. How did they not get exhausted to death..."
She could barely stand it after just a few hours.
Eleanor was exhausted too, but no matter how tired she was, she had to keep up the act.
Because it wasn't so much an "act" as it was "learning." The old woman's words had made sense; a Maid should have the proper mindset of a Maid. What's more, the Master they were about to meet was Mr. Blake, the greatest Mage of the Era of Polymath. When they were out in public with Sean in the future, they couldn't bring shame to his name.
"Just hang in there a little longer. Think of it as adapting in advance," Eleanor said.
"I know, I know," Elise first agreed, then blinked and asked, "Sister, aren't you curious about Sean?"
Eleanor was puzzled. "Curious about what?"
"His looks!"
Elise recalled Sean's face with an intoxicated expression and said dreamily, "Haven't you noticed? He looks exactly the same as he did back then!"
'The face of Mr. Blake in the painting is the same as Sean's face now...'
'She didn't know how he did it, whether he used a face-altering Magic Potion or some kind of Magic. But that wasn't the point. The point was that face is just so handsome!'
'The first time she saw Sean in the church, she'd been struck by his looks... no, wait, it was love at first sight. Now, adding the filter of him being a great historical figure, Elise felt the descriptions of Mr. Blake in the books were completely accurate.'
"He's practically a walking Succubus!"
Eleanor: "..."
"I think you're just horny."
'She had to admit Sean was very good-looking, but calling him a Succubus was an exaggeration... right?'
Elise, shamelessly defiant, shot back, "So what if I'm horny? At my age, if I'm not horny, should I be sick instead?"
"This is called a maiden's heart."
"You wouldn't understand, Sister. You're already old!"
Eleanor: "..."
Hearing that, anyone who didn't know better would think there was a huge age gap between the two sisters.
It was only ten minutes.
'If she was going to become an old crone, Elise couldn't escape that fate either.'
"I'm not talking to you about Sean anymore, in case you try to compete with me for him." Elise's train of thought jumped. As she spoke, she got up and walked to the window. She opened it, closed her eyes, and took a greedy breath of the salty sea air. "Sister," she said, "from now on, we'll have to rely on just each other again."
