It was clear Eleanor had spent the last two days diligently studying the Court Maid Manual the old woman had given her.
Though she was intentionally making her voice cold and distant, her phrasing was impeccably polite.
First, she thanked Robert for providing her and her sister with lodging and for guiding them, then she kindly invited him to die.
For a moment, Robert thought he had misheard.
'Weren't the Eleanor Sisters hired by the family specifically to deal with Sean—to eliminate him for good and restore the Florist Family's honor?'
'Why would they suddenly turn on him?'
Robert's voice shot up in panic. "My ladies!"
"This is no time for jokes!"
"Sean is right there on the ship! The man is incredibly cunning. If you don't act now, I'm afraid he'll escape!"
"Who said we were joking?" This time, it was Elise who spoke, her tone dripping with undisguised mockery. "Mr. Robert, surely you don't think we're on such good terms that we can joke around with each other, do you?"
Eleanor added, "Mr. Robert, take a look at this mirror. Does it look like we're joking?"
It didn't.
Not in the slightest!
The power of Great Magic was terrifying. Even before the mirror shattered, its colossal frame exuded a suffocating pressure. This was especially true when one's own reflection stared back, like a great mountain hanging overhead, ready to crash down and crush them at any moment.
That was exactly why Robert was so frantic.
'I'm going to die... I'm really going to die!'
He wasn't deaf; he had heard the Eleanor Sisters loud and clear. He just couldn't understand why.
'The Eleanor Sisters were the ones the family hired for help. So why would they kill him, their employer?'
For the past few days on the ship, he had been meticulously "serving" the Eleanor Sisters. The food was the freshest, the wine the most expensive. Whenever the sisters expressed the slightest need, he would attend to it personally if he could, all to show his sincerity.
That clansman from two days ago—the reckless fool who, like a toad lusting after a swan, had tried to block the Eleanor Sisters' path with a rose—had been harshly punished by him. He was still locked in a dark room, forced to face the wall and repent. Robert had no intention of letting him out before the sisters departed.
He was afraid the sight of the man might displease the two ladies.
Robert thought about how he had never offended the Eleanor Sisters. He'd put them first in everything, considered every last detail. Compared to them, he felt more like the "Maid" himself.
But that was fine.
As long as he could build a good relationship with the Eleanor Sisters, Robert felt, it would all be worth it.
But he never imagined that his days of deferential hospitality would be repaid with this mirror.
Sean, who had been about to go all-out and make a desperate escape with Elvire, was also stunned by what he heard.
'That voice... Why does it sound so familiar?'
Just then, Kate and the others, whom Sean had pushed away to safety, came rushing back.
They weren't the type to abandon a comrade and flee.
This was especially true for Sopea. He knew Sean's true identity; to him, Sean was much more than a mere "comrade."
Anyone here could die—including him and Koni—but not Sean.
His figure moved like a ghost. He drifted in front of Sean, shielding him, and whispered, "Mr. Sean, go! Now!"
He didn't understand what was happening. It looked like some kind of internal conflict within the Florist Family.
It didn't matter.
With the enemy in disarray, this was the perfect opportunity to escape.
Whatever grievance existed between Robert and the two Grand Mages, and whether or not those Mages might be allies, they had to flee.
They couldn't afford to bet on it.
If the Mages were just planning to kill Robert first and then them, staying put would be a death sentence.
Sean, of course, understood this.
He wasn't about to gamble his and everyone else's lives just because a voice sounded familiar.
Sopea was right. They had to escape during the chaos.
However, just as Sean was preparing to sneak away with Elvire and the others, he realized it wasn't just the voice that was familiar.
The faces were, too.
Having brought the scene under control with the Mirror Death Curse, the Eleanor Sisters finally revealed themselves.
Two young, beautiful Maids with strikingly similar features stepped out of a hotel window.
They trod on air. Before each foot landed, a Tier One step would materialize beneath it. The two women walked at a steady pace, hands clasped before them as they strolled through the sky with the utmost elegance.
Sean's eyes widened involuntarily. "Eleanor? Elise?" he asked, stunned.
Elvire and the others: "?"
"You know them?"
'Know them? It was more than that.'
The older of the two twins was practically his "buddy" who'd once robbed an art exhibition and done jail time with him.
'But the question is, aren't the Eleanor Sisters from the New World? What are they doing in the Farm World? And how did they become Grand Mages?'
「In the air」
Elise whispered excitedly to Eleanor, "Sister, did you hear that? Sean called out to us!"
"He hasn't forgotten us!"
Eleanor: "..."
Of course she'd heard him.
Even with the distance between them and Sean, a Grand Mage's senses were nothing to scoff at. This was especially true in this situation—the mirror in the sky might not have reflected Sean's group, but that didn't mean they were outside her perception. With the colossal mirror hanging in the air, the entire cruise ship and the whole harbor were well within the cage of Magic she had constructed.
Eleanor just didn't find it at all strange that Sean had recognized them.
They hadn't used a Magic Potion for a Disguise, after all.
As for Sean not having forgotten them...
