The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 319 - 158: "Lady of the House

"Are you sure they’ll go to the Gate of Hell?"

The woman asked.

"Not sure, but there’s a high probability," the man replied. "After all, we still don’t know what they’re looking for. It’s all speculation."

But he only called it speculation. If he wasn’t at least somewhat certain, why would he have said it at all?

"Sounds like you know these guys well?" an old man wearing reading glasses asked.

"I wouldn’t say I know them well. I’ve just done a little digging, that’s all," the man answered.

Ever since Zajik, a high-ranking member of the Florist Family, died in New Elderidge a few months ago, Sean and his group had been on his radar. Such audacity—to make a move right under the Church Court’s nose—was rare. But audacity is often backed by strength. No Wizard is a fool; a true fool could never become a Wizard. Therefore, if Sean and his group dared to act, they must have had something to rely on.

He couldn’t guess what that "something" was.

A Secret Technique?

An Initial-stage Forbidden Curse?

Or perhaps a powerful backer?

He hadn’t personally dealt with Sean and his group yet, so it was hard to draw a conclusion.

’But there’s no harm in investigating further.’

’What if this group of Wizards shows up on my turf one day?’

’I have to be on guard.’

The man turned to the woman from Sonaros State. "Miss Bofunova, if I were you, I’d start preparing now."

"Aren’t you giving them a little too much credit?" The woman scoffed. "If I really make preparations, I’m afraid the grand display would scare them off, and they wouldn’t dare to come."

"No." The man shook his head. Anyone who knew even a little about Sean would never say such a thing.

"The more dangerous it is, the more he’ll risk it."

"Zajik’s death is the best example."

No one, including themselves, had ever thought Sean and his group would dare to kill someone in New Elderidge, but that’s exactly what they did. That young man named Sean loved to do the exact opposite of what was expected.

"Oh? Is that so?" Bofunova’s eyes curved into a dangerous arc. "If you put it that way, you’ve piqued my interest."

’Do they really think the Kovloki Family’s territory is some roadside convenience store they can just waltz in and out of?’

She and Robert, the Clan Leader of the Florist Family, were both Tier Six. But when it came to strength, two Roberts probably wouldn’t be a match for her alone. Similarly, there were disparities between families, and the most direct manifestation of this was "territory."

The Sonaros State, administered by the Kovloki Family, was countless times larger than the Siracle State. If the Florist Family were asked to manage it, they wouldn’t even be able to handle it.

’So... surely no one actually thinks that wiping out the puny Florist Family is enough to intimidate other families, right?’

Bofunova didn’t know what others thought, but she wasn’t afraid.

Why had she said at the very beginning that "one should just uproot this kind of impertinent Wizard Organization and eliminate the problem for good"?

Because that’s what she did.

In Sonaros State, no prey dared to provoke the Kovloki Family. The fates of countless who had tried served as a harsh lesson: there was only one outcome for provoking the Kovloki Family—death.

"To be honest, I don’t believe they’d dare come to Sonaros State."

"But if they do..."

Bofunova looked at the photos of Sean and the others on the table and licked her lips. "I’ll guarantee he never makes it back."

...

"ACHOO!"

「Alola Town.」

The group, having returned from Lankate City, was currently in the church counting their spoils when Sean suddenly sneezed.

"Oh no. Someone’s after my body."

Everyone else: ?

’He skipped the whole "thinking about you" part and fast-forwarded straight to getting down to business in bed, huh?’

Elise blinked. "Mr. Writer, confidence is a good thing, but too much of it turns into narcissism, you know."

But Sean had a serious expression. "I’m not kidding."

Elvire sneered, "Then why don’t you tell us which one of your little lovers out there is thinking about you?"

’There are plenty, like your sister for instance...’

Sean thought, but didn’t dare say it out loud. Instead, he stated reasonably, "It’s precisely because I don’t have any little lovers that I’m saying this."

Forget lovers, he barely had any friends. Almost everyone he knew was right here in this room. That meant the only ones "thinking" about him had to be enemies.

"Word that we wiped out the Florist Family has probably spread by now. I bet someone’s plotting how to deal with us," Sean said.

Elise didn’t get it. "What does that have to do with someone being after your body?"

Sean replied, "Wanting to kill me is also a way of being after my body. Who knows if any of these Witch Hunters are necrophiliacs?"

Everyone: ...

Necrophilia...

’That’s... certainly a unique taste.’

But Sean wasn’t entirely baseless in his claim.

Because a few nights ago, while "helping" the Florist Family with their inheritance, they had discovered several floors of empty rooms inside Florist Castle.

On the outside, they looked like storerooms. But once you stood before these "storerooms," you’d realize they weren’t for storing junk, but for people.

The familiar, bone-deep chill made Sean realize in an instant that these floors were all morgues. If one were to sniff carefully, they could even detect a faint stench of rot hidden beneath the strong smell of disinfectant.

Back at the Florist Hospital in Holkaydo, they hadn’t found the bodies of Chris and the others who had been murdered. Now that they’d found a morgue in Florist Castle, it was obvious the bodies from the hospital must have been transported back here.

Shipping dead bodies to your own home was strange enough in itself.

What was even stranger was that the morgue spanned three entire floors, yet there wasn’t a single body to be found.

Sean had initially suspected that the Florist Family’s Puppets were made through Corpse Refining. Now he knew he was wrong—if the Florist Family was truly practicing Corpse Refining, the morgue wouldn’t be so neatly empty.
