The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 321 - 158: "Lady of the House

Elise: "!!!"

"Thank you, Master!"

For a Grand Mage, ordinary Magic Items were of little use, and a few pieces of Obsidian couldn’t hold much of their Magic Power. But Elise was still happy—in fact, she was ecstatic!

’He gave me a gift...’

’This means he cares about me!’

"This bracelet isn’t bad either... Here, Eleanor." Sean tossed another one to Eleanor.

If the younger sister got one, the older sister naturally had to have one, too. He’d never been one to play favorites; he probably wouldn’t have survived this long otherwise...

This infuriated Elvire.

’How dare this guy give jewelry to other girls right in front of me?’

’And he didn’t even get one for me??’

"Sean, what is the meaning of this!"

Elvire asked, grinding her teeth.

But Sean, ever prepared, whipped out a necklace that looked far more valuable than the bracelets at a glance and personally put it on for her.

His fingers brushed against Elvire’s neck, the warm touch sending a tingle of electricity through her. Her cheeks instantly flushed, and her fists clenched... ’That guy, doesn’t he know everyone is watching?’

Sean paid no mind, and after fastening the necklace for Elvire, he even stepped aside and asked the Eleanor Sisters, "Well? How does it look?"

The two girls, knowing their cue, nodded repeatedly. "Beautiful!"

Sean: "Who’s beautiful?"

The two girls: "The Lady of the House is beautiful!"

Elvire: "..."

Suddenly, she wasn’t angry anymore.

’Come to think of it,’ she mused, ’as the Lady of the House, what’s the point of competing with two maids?’

So she let out a light "hmph," as if to say this was the one and only time.

Yisha teased from the side, "Oh my, Miss Flame Crow, why are you blushing?"

"Is it because you like the sound of ’Lady of the House’?"

Elvire’s expression froze. Only then did she realize she hadn’t refuted the title "Lady of the House."

She could only try to salvage the situation, saying with a red face, "What’s there to like? It’s not like I agreed to it."

Everyone burst into laughter.

Elvire couldn’t take the teasing anymore and grew flustered. "Anyone who dares to laugh again, I’ll make sure they can never laugh again!"

Everyone immediately fell silent.

But though their mouths were shut, their eyes were still crinkled with mirth. For a moment, the air was filled with a joyous atmosphere.

However, the few "comrades-in-arms" who had attacked Florist Castle with them and had also returned home were not happy at all.

Krim State, the Long Night Union headquarters.

The hearts of the few men present were bleeding.

The Night Watcher’s heart was bleeding, too.

He sat on the sofa, his eyes closed as always, but you could see his eyelids twitching, betraying his turbulent emotions.

"Sean and his group really took down Florist Castle?"

"Yes."

"With no outside help?"

"Yes..."

"And this is all you got from the spoils?"

"Yes..."

The Night Watcher sensed the five bottles of mineral water on the table and nearly spat up a mouthful of old blood.

The Florist Family was a great family that controlled the entire Siracle State. Due to the Church Court’s strict rules, perhaps they couldn’t embezzle much and weren’t as rich as one might imagine. But no matter how "poor" they were, they should have had several billion in liquid assets. Yet that kid Sean... actually gave each of them just one bottle of mineral water...

The Night Watcher was furious!

But his anger wasn’t directed at Sean.

After all, he had been the first to disrespect Sean, so it was only reasonable that Sean didn’t return the favor.

The Night Watcher was angry at himself.

He had been too careless. He never expected that Sean and the others could actually take down Florist Castle.

And with only five hundred people, at that.

What a golden opportunity it had been!

The economy had been in a slump these past few years, and the Long Night Union wasn’t doing too well either.

Although they were Wizards, they never used illegal means to accumulate wealth. Even with the occasional "dog-eat-dog" score, their income could barely cover their expenses.

Because they didn’t just want to survive; they wanted to survive while increasing their Power.

Raising a single Smell Crow was absurdly expensive, let alone supporting Wizards.

The higher the Tier, the more expensive the required Magic Potions. Only someone truly in charge would understand what a staggering sum of money it took to support a group of Wizards.

They could have had a chance to get rich together with the Dawn Council.

But he had miscalculated.

He had underestimated Sean.

He had missed out on at least a billion.

The Night Watcher was truly heartbroken.

The five young Wizards who had been sent to stand guard were heartbroken as well.

They had watched with their own eyes as Sean and his group annihilated the Witch Hunters in Florist Castle.

They had wanted to help, but they had their orders. They couldn’t help; they could only stand watch.

And when it came time for "moving," they wanted to move things too, but they had their orders. They couldn’t move anything; they could only stand watch.

They stood there all night long.

There was nothing more agonizing than watching others take all the good stuff, leaving you with only a few bottles of mineral water.

"Chairman, why don’t we go and try to negotiate with Mr. Sean? For Mr. Sopea’s sake, he ought to share some with us," one of the Wizards couldn’t help but say.

"Bullshit!" The Night Watcher slammed his palm on the coffee table, shattering it to pieces.

Then he used Magic Power to restore it, sticking the pieces back together.

Then he roared, "You may have no shame, but I do!"

"It’s just a few billion. What’s there to be attached to?"

"Do I look jealous to you?"

The five men looked at the Night Watcher’s tightly shut eyes. "..."

The Night Watcher continued, "This matter is now in the past. We’ll act as if it never happened. No one is to mention it again, understand?"

The five men: "Yes."

The Night Watcher: "Go, bring me Sean’s file."

He wanted to "get to know" this young man all over again.

"Also, rest for a few minutes, then prepare to go live in Alola Town for a while."

"Huh?"

The five men were stunned. "What for?"

’Didn’t he just say we weren’t to look for Sean?’

The Night Watcher sighed.

Sometimes he found it exhausting to talk to his subordinates; they couldn’t even grasp such a simple meaning.

Living in Alola Town didn’t mean they had to look for Sean.

From the few things he knew about Sean, the kid wasn’t one to sit still. This wouldn’t be his one and only move against a Witch Hunter Family.

He wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

"I want you to find a way to gather intelligence on Sean’s next move. Report any news to me immediately!"

One Wizard asked, confused, "Chairman, why don’t you just ask Mr. Sopea directly?"

"From what I can see, Mr. Sopea and Mr. Sean seem to be on very good terms."

With a CRACK, the Night Watcher slammed his palm down again, shattering the newly restored coffee table. He roared, "I’ll say it again, I have my pride!"

He and Sopea had already had a "falling out" over Sean and were currently in a cold war. Even if he could swallow his pride and ask, Sopea wouldn’t necessarily tell him. He and Sopea had known each other for years; they knew each other’s personalities inside and out. Why would he bow his head and lose face for nothing when he knew he wouldn’t get an answer?

It was better to find out for themselves.

Meanwhile, inside the church in Alola Town, Sean and the others were also discussing the matter.

"Master, what’s our next step?" Yisha asked while checking items off a list with Elise. "Are we going to Sonaros State?"

"If we’re really going, I’ll need to prepare in advance."

Sonaros State was quite far. Considering factors like the inability to travel there directly and the risk of being watched, the journey would be longer than the trip to World’s End, and there would likely be more trouble. They couldn’t just up and leave on a whim anymore.

Sean thought for a moment, then said, "We’ll go, but there’s no rush."

"First, let’s take care of our own business here in Siracle State."

Kate, standing to the side, was puzzled. "We still have business here?"

"Of course," Sean said meaningfully. "For example, next month’s gubernatorial election."

The Florist Family is gone, but their businesses are still there.

The biggest power in Siracle State right now is the government. The assets left behind by the Florist Family will inevitably be taken over by government-appointed personnel, but...

On what grounds?

Why should they hand over the territory they fought so hard to conquer to someone else?

"Everyone, you wouldn’t want to just stand by and watch someone else reap the biggest rewards from the Florist Family, which you risked your lives to eliminate, would you?"

Everyone: "?"

’What does he mean?’

"Master, you just mentioned the gubernatorial election... Ah!" Yisha gasped, covering her mouth. "Master, don’t tell me you want to become the governor?!"

Elvire looked as if her whole world was collapsing.

’Seriously, why does this guy always like to do such terrifying things?’

’A governor has to deal directly with the various Witch Hunter Families and might even have to face the Church Court. Just how badly does Sean want to be buried with her that he would cook up such a bold idea?’

But Sean didn’t see it that way.

On the contrary, he saw the election as an excellent opportunity.

First, he didn’t hold grudges.

So, it was time to settle the score with a certain retiring governor who had branded him a "Heretic." Once the score was settled, he’d forget all about it.

Second, they might use the "house building" method to open a passage between the "New World" and the Farm World.

If they had someone in the Siracle State Government, plus Kate’s connections from her years in business, the matter would be practically foolproof.

Therefore, for reasons emotional and logical, public and private, long-term and short-term, they had to get involved in this election.

Sean looked at Yisha. "Why don’t you run? How about it?"

Yisha: "???"
