"I’m here to get you out."

Dr. Crew was certain that he had heard wrong, but the expression on the kid’s face told him that he heard exactly what he thought he did.

One of the Splinters was offering to get him out?

’Did they suddenly grow a conscience?’ was the thought in the man’s head, ’or is this some type of weird test that would put my family in danger?’

With a frown, the man turned back and said, "Not interested."

"Is that so?" The Splinter asked with a smile, "Then I guess you also have no interest in ensuring the safety of your family?"

The Scientist froze and turned back to him, assuming his words were a threat. "What do you want?"

"I just told you, didn’t I?" The kid answered, "I’m here to get you out."

"Why?" Dr. Crew was still suspicious of his intentions.

"Let’s just say," He paused, placed a hand on his chin, and his face slowly transformed, "my parents left you with something for me."

His previously yellow eyes were now grey, and his yellow hair became black, causing the scientist’s eyes to go wide.

"David?" The man let out in surprise.

"That’d be my father," the kid, no, Liam, responded with a smile before his features reverted to Splinter’s.

"How are you—" the scientist started but was interrupted.

"Well, I managed to take down one of them, replaced him, and that’s how I’m here," he explained as if he was simply talking about the weather.

In truth, the speedster had died the night he and Titan had attacked them; Liam simply created a clone that looked exactly like him, allowed Titan to escape with him and successfully planted the mole within their base with his very own hands.

Since the clone was a Pragma battery, it wasn’t affected by Liam passing out... though it would basically be left with a blank stare till he regained consciousness.

Fortunately, the speedster wasn’t exactly talkative, nor did he interact much with the Splinters, so him going without suspicion was quite easy.

But he had deliberately simplified the story so the Scientist would think he had some sort of shapeshifting Factor...after all, he couldn’t exactly reveal his entire hand.

"I see," Crew muttered, still looking at the kid before him. Still, he decided to believe him for now. "So how do you intend to get me out of here?"

"That’s where you come in," Liam said. "Although I managed to copy his looks, I unfortunately cannot replicate this guy’s Factor, so I’ll need you to do something about that."

"What about my family?" Crew asked the only important thing to him.

He’d immediately refuse being helped out of here if he couldn’t ensure his family’s safety.

"I have a person outside; he’ll handle it," Liam assured, "we just have to create a big enough distraction from in here."

"..."

Dr. Crew considered it for a while. If this failed —

He suddenly pulled himself out of those thoughts by slapping himself with both hands, ’don’t be a fucking coward, you idiot.’

He could stay here and ensure his family remained safe, but for how long would he have to walk on shells?

How long would the Splinters use that to create things that didn’t sit right with his conscience?

This was a chance to be free from all that.

He looked towards the kid and smiled before saying, "Your mother would kill me if she knew we were doing something this dangerous together."

"I think what I’ve done so far would overshadow what we’re about to do, so it should be fine," Liam responded with a chuckle.

"Alright then," Crew also chuckled as he turned back. "Let’s get to work, shall we?"

"Sure!"

***

Meanwhile, Liam’s real body had a small smile on his face at this achievement.

"Seems it’ll soon be time to pay the Splinters a visit," Liam muttered as he walked out of his room.

But before that, he had a date to attend.

On the couch, in the living room, were his two siblings who had grins on their faces as they looked at him.

"What?" Liam asked as he passed a hand through his hair, trying to make sure nothing was off.

"Nothing," Lea responded, and Eli nodded in agreement before she added, "but are you sure this is not a date?"

"Well, she did say it was to thank us for all we’ve done for her so far," Liam answered, "and you two were the ones who decided to stay at home."

"No," Eli shook his head, "we had a deal!"

"Right," Liam muttered, placing a hand on his chin.

Olivia had offered to treat them to a meal, and at least make up for the ruined amusement park outing, but the two declined, convincing her to just go with their older brother.

At first, Liam thought it was because the two loved their dear brother, but these rascals took that as a chance to extort him.

He couldn’t say he was disappointed... hell, he was quite proud of their extortion skills. Unfortunately, it was aimed at him.

"Fine," Liam sighed, putting his hands into his pockets, "what did you two ask for again?"

"A new phone," Lea immediately answered.

"And a gaming console," Eli added.

"..."

They really were good at this. But he would let himself be extorted just this once; after all, they had gotten him some alone time with his Radiance.

"Fine," he said with a sigh as he walked towards the door, "I’ll see you two later."

"Good luck on your date."

He heard the two say as he stepped out of the apartment. With a smile, he walked towards Olivia’s door.

Liam lifted his hand to knock, but the door opened at that exact moment, causing him to freeze.

Olivia was in a cream colored off-the-shoulder blouse tucked into a black skirt, and she was also in black heels, making her taller than she already was.

Liam remained frozen for a while, none of his other minds being useful at this moment, but noticing that she seemed a bit nervous, he finally got himself together and said,

"You look beautiful."

"T-thank you," Olivia said in response before also looking at him properly, "you also look good in white."

"Thank you," he responded with a smile before extending his hand, "shall we?"

Olivia looked at it for a while before taking it and nodding, "let’s."
