As much as Liam hated cats, he couldn’t say he regretted visiting the cat cafe, after all, he got to see a side of Olivia that even the comics didn’t show.
Perhaps he would finally be able to tolerate cats now.
Liam turned back towards the cat Cafe and noticed the weird black cat looking at him through the glass and his expression immediately turned blank.
’Absolutely not!’
The two walked to the car and the moment they walked in, Liam asked, "so, where are you going next?"
Olivia seemed to think of an answer for a while before responding, "we could go to where you’d like instead."
"Are you sure?" He looked at her with a raised brow, "it’s quite the drive."
"I’m certain," she nodded in response and he simply smiled.
"Then we’ll get some supplies on the way," Liam said with a chuckle as he started the car.
Olivia was a bit confused as she wondered what he meant by supplies, until the reached a supermarket and bought a bunch of stuff.
Mostly snacks.
"Are we going to need all this for wherever we’re going?" She voiced her confusion and Liam nodded, "yup."
***
And he wasn’t wrong.
It had taken them three hours to get to the location he had chosen and at this point, the sun was already setting.
They stopped at the base of what seemed to be a mountain with stairs before Liam turned to Olivia and asked, "shall we?"
She peeked out the window and looked down at her heels... This was definitely not the plan she had for the day.
Still, since this was basically to thank him for all his cooking so far, she’d bare with it.
Fortunately, Liam had taken her heels into consideration when he decided to come here. He picked something up from the back of his seat, opened the door on his side before walking towards hers.
Opening the door for her, he held up a pair of sneakers and asked, "may I ?"
Olivia looked at the sneakers, understood what he meant before nodding and moving her feet out of the car.
Liam proceeded to gently crouch and take off her heels with a small smile on his face, before proceeding to replace them with the sneakers.
Olivia realized a little too late that this position could be easily misunderstood, but she couldn’t withdraw her foot now.
A blush appeared on her cheeks as she looked around, fortunately, everyone around was focused on climbing the stairs so none paid attention to them.
"There we go," he said with a smile as he stood up and looked at her, "shall we go for a bit of hiking?"
This might seem like a date idea that would cause him to lose brownie points, but he was confident enough in the end result to gamble those brownie points.
Olivia looked down at her foot, noticing that the sneakers were surprisingly her size, which caused her to wonder how he knew.
In the end, she just assumed that Lea probably wore the same size, so he might’ve just bought it because of her.
With a sigh, she stepped out of the car and nodded, "let’s go."
***
The walk up the mountain was quite the long one, but as awakened humans, both Olivia and Liam were hardly exhausted.
After over twenty minutes of walking, the two managed to reach the top of the mountain, where it looked like they had stepped into a whole new world.
"This is?" Olivia let out as she looked around in awe.
"A popular tourist spot," Liam replied as he immediately started feeling nostalgic, "my parents used to bring me here."
"I see," she muttered, still looking around.
At the top of the mountain was a large grassy field, with flowers here and there, but that wasn’t why this place was popular.
It was popular because of the view it provided. At the very edge of the mountain, she could see a view of the entire city below them, a scene that was quite breathtaking.
"My dad used to say the city looks less complicated from far enough away," Liam muttered as he noticed that she was lost in the view.
Exactly as he had intended.
"I guess he was right," Olivia responded before turning back to him, noticing that he was setting down a blanket and some snacks.
Liam then sat down on one side and patted the other, "it’s quite late, but would you like to join me for a picnic?"
She nodded and sat down where he had prepared, finally understanding why he had bought so much on their way here.
She silently watched him set down some snacks for a while.
"How were they like?" Olivia finally broke the silence with a question.
"My parents?" He looked up at her and asked.
"Hmm," she nodded in response.
"Well," Liam leaned back as he was done setting the snack on the blanket before looking up at the sky, "aside from the fact that they weren’t around much, they were great parents."
"My dad’s a bit childish so it falls to my mom to keep him in check," he continued with a smile, as if the memories were his own.
Strangely though, the original Liam’s memories of their parents and his own overlapped a lot.
It was almost as if this was an alternate reality where his parents died a lot later than they did in his own world.
"Is that so?" Olivia muttered, pulling him out of his thoughts, "they sound wonderful."
Liam noticed that although she had on a smile, it was far from a genuine one.
"To be honest," she started, "when I first met your siblings, I was quite jealous of your family."
Liam understood exactly why.
"After all," She muttered, "your family was everything I wished mine was, a normal family."
Olivia then looked at him before chuckling, "sounds quite selfish, doesn’t it?"
"After all," she added, "I still have parents."
Liam was silent for a while before replying,
"I don’t think wanting a normal family is selfish."
