"Cube."
"No!" Dr. Crew said, trying to stop Cube, unfortunately, it was too late.
The scientist watched in horror as the leader of the Splinters activated his Factor and the white haired kid’s body started folding from the pressure.
But just when they all expected him to become nothing but a fleshy cube, the kid suddenly exploded.
Literally.
But instead of a flesh filled explosion, Zero’s body exploded into smoke, one that quickly filled the entire lab.
"It was quite weird adjusting my features to resemble your maid," the hitman’s voice was suddenly heard within the smoke, "but I guess it wasn’t as bad as I thought."
Cube narrowed his eyes hearing the voice.
The smoke continued spreading throughout the room, making it impossible to see more than a few feet ahead.
Zero knew that if he recklessly attacked Cube, he’d quickly be turned into... well, a cube, so he had devised a plan.
After taking care of the maid, he had copied her appearance and created a clone of Zero before heading down here.
The clone had done its job perfectly, the rest was now up to him.
"You really are quite troublesome, Zero," Cube said as his eyes continue scanning through the smoke, searching for the hitman.
"So I’ve been told," Zero answered and following his voice was a metallic object which suddenly flew through the smoke and headed straight for Cube’s head.
He immediately raised his arm in response and the object folded in on itself before it could reach him, becoming a tiny cube that dropped harmlessly to the floor.
The moment it touched the ground, however, Zero suddenly appeared behind him with a katana in hand.
The hitman swung the katana towards his neck, forcing him to quickly lean to the side, narrowly avoiding his head being taken off.
The blade struck the side of his mask instead, sending sparks flying as he stumbled several steps to the side.
Zero didn’t give him the chance to recover, the hitman disappeared again.
Cube’s eyes followed the movement, but the moment he turned towards Zero’s new position, another attack was already coming from the opposite direction.
He raised his hand in response and Zero’s instincts immediately screamed for him to move.
And he listened to it.
The hitman quickly changed direction, narrowly avoiding being crushed into a cube like the ground where he was previously standing.
"How annoying," Cube muttered, "I was hoping that would crush you."
Instead of responding to his words, the hitman simply tugged at something and the next second, several metallic objects suddenly emerged from the smoke and flew towards Cube from different angles.
They were each controlled by some sort of string that Zero had managed to set up, the very same ones he had used to capture the yellow haired speedster.
Cube simply raised both hands, and every object abruptly folded into tiny cubes before dropping to the floor.
"Is that all you’re capable of?" He said, disappointment evident in his voice, "petty tricks?"
"I truly do wonder how you managed to take the rest down."
Zero remained within the smoke, his silhouette barely visible through the thick haze.
He had no intention of taking the bait.
Cube was clearly trying to provoke him into making a reckless move, and after everything he had already seen of the man’s Factor, one mistake would be enough to end the fight.
"You’re not very good at this," Zero finally said, "I’ve heard better insults from children."
Cube immediately activated his Factor in the direction the voice came from, and although the dust was clearly bending due to the pressure,
There was no one standing there.
BANG!
Before cube could realize that the voice had only been a decoy, a fist suddenly slammed into his side.
The impact sent Cube stumbling sideways, but before Zero could follow up, Cube raised his hand.
Again, the hitman sensed the danger and was immediately forced to retreat, least he’d be turned into a meat cube.
But the Splinter seemed to have another plan. Since the hitman was too fast for his Factor to affect, he decided to use another approach.
Instead of trying to attack Zero, Cube’s hand turned towards Dr. Crew.
The scientist was blinded by the dust to notice what was happening, but the hitman immediately did.
Zero understood that Cube just wanted him distracted so he would be caught off guard, but he wouldn’t allow the Splinter’s plan to work exactly as he intended.
Cube targeted a cluster of metals above the scientist, crushed them into cubes before mashing them together to create an even bigger metal cube.
He then let it fall towards Dr. Crew who hadidea what was coming towards him.
The hitman suddenly became two as he created a clone that was responsible for keeping Cube busy, which it immediately got to.
Zero, on the other hand, suddenly became a blur as he moved towards the scientist.
He then grabbed Dr. Crew by the collar of his lab coat and pulled him away just as a massive metal cube came crashing down.
BOOM!
The laboratory shook violently as the cube touched the floor, and at the same time, Cube emerged from the smoke.
His mask was cracked, blood running down his face, but there was a confident smile on his face as he looked at the hitman.
It seems the clone had done quite the number on him within a few seconds, but he seemed to have finally figured something out.
He had been testing Zero, trying to understand his abilities and forcing him into revealing everything.
And now he had learned enough.
Without a word, Cube suddenly clenched his fist and every single object within the laboratory suddenly started compressing toward a single point,
Exactly where the two were standing causing Zero’s instincts went wilder than they ever had.
"Shit."
He grabbed the disoriented scientist and jumped away from the center as the entire laboratory started collapsing inward.
BOOM!
A massive cube of compressed metal formed where they had been standing as dust and debris filled the room.
For several seconds, there was complete silence.
But just when Cube thought the hitman had successfully been dealt with, a hand emerged from within the rubble as Zero pulled himself free.
Blood was running down the side of his face, his suit was torn, and one of his arms was very clearly broken.
Dr. Crew also crawled out behind him, coughing violently.
"Are you alright?" Zero asked as he helped the man up with his unbroken arm.
"I should be asking you that," the scientist said, looking at the kid’s mangled arm.
"I’m fine," the hitman said with a shrug before he looked toward the massive cube and his expression immediately became serious.
There was no way he could let Cube continue fighting like this, if the fight dragged on then entire laboratory would eventually collapse.
And Crew would be caught in it.
With a sigh, he took off the suit, leaving only the shirt underneath and a katana appeared in his hand before he murmured something to Crew.
After that, he turned toward the Splinter and pointed the katana’s blade at him before saying, "I guess it’s time we properly get started."
