The Supreme Village Doctor

Chapter 40 - 41: Gathering Herbs

Chapter 40: Chapter 41: Gathering Herbs

But without Li Yang’s command, Dahuang just squatted there, looking curious.

"Stop!" Just as Big Black was about to lunge, Li Yang finally spoke.

Big Black’s teeth were less than ten centimeters from Qin Susu’s skin.

"You..." Qin Susu had thought bringing a large black dog would give her the upper hand—the dog was professionally trained, after all—but she never expected to be outmaneuvered by Li Yang yet again.

She was resentful and felt wronged.

"You... you jerk! All you know is how to bully me!"

Li Yang was so exasperated he had to laugh. "I bully you? When did I ever bully you? You’re the one who had your dog try to bite me the first time we met, yet you have the nerve to say I’m bullying you? Where’s the justice in that?!"

The more Li Yang spoke, the angrier he got.

"You shouldn’t have said I didn’t know what I was talking about!" Qin Susu retorted, still defiant.

"I bully you?" Li Yang suddenly snapped his head around to look at Qin Susu, who was frozen in place under Big Black’s intimidating stare.

Her figure was truly incredible, and since it was summer, she was wearing very little.

Li Yang’s eyes lit up. He stepped closer with a lecherous grin. "You know, I’d almost forgotten, but you just had to remind me... That’s right. It’s the middle of the night and no one’s around. This would be the perfect time to *actually* bully you!"

"AH!" Qin Susu shrieked in terror. "Help! Murder! Someone’s trying to assault me!"

Li Yang rubbed his forehead and told Big Black to get lost. Then, with a dark expression, he said, "Alright, that’s enough screaming. Now get out of here and stop bothering me."

Qin Susu froze, then realized Li Yang was just trying to scare her.

"Hmph! All you know how to do is bully women!" Qin Susu glared at him. "And dogs!"

Li Yang couldn’t be bothered to respond. "Just go. And don’t bring your dog around me again. Or next time, I’ll kill them both with a single kick each."

THUMP THUMP THUMP...

Just then, Qin Susu unexpectedly strode forward. "I’m staying at your place tonight."

’Did the sun rise from the west?’

Li Yang stared at her in astonishment. "My place is just a humble farmhouse. You couldn’t stand it last time, and now you want to stay here again?"

"It’s too late. I don’t feel like going anywhere else."

"You have a car!"

"What’s with all the pointless questions? Shouldn’t you be happy that a great beauty like me is willing to keep you company?" Qin Susu snapped.

Li Yang thought for a moment and found he had no retort. He nodded. "Suit yourself. Just keep your dog in line."

With that, Li Yang went into his room to sleep.

Qin Susu’s face fell. Pointing at the two dogs, she said, "You two, watch the yard. Don’t wander off. It’s late, I’m going to rest."

With that, she went into the room she had slept in before and went to bed.

「The next day」

Li Yang woke up bright and early.

’I delivered a lot of vegetables yesterday, so I can skip it today. I should head up the mountain to gather some medicinal herbs; the village’s supply is getting low. I’m the village’s de facto doctor now, so I have to do the job right. We’re out of herbs, and gathering them myself will save some money, too.’

He also made breakfast for Qin Susu, who was still in bed. Just as he sat down to eat, she emerged, still groggy. "What time is it?"

But Li Yang froze on the spot, his mouth hanging open mid-bite of his noodles.

Qin Susu was wearing nothing but an extremely short and loose-fitting nightgown. The front was gaping, revealing the swell of her breasts on both sides.

"AH!" It was only then that Qin Susu remembered she wasn’t at home. She shrieked and dashed back into her room. "You pervert! You were peeking at me again!"

Li Yang was speechless. ’This is my damn house!’

A moment later, Qin Susu emerged fully dressed, glaring at Li Yang with hatred in her eyes.

Li Yang felt he’d been wrongfully accused, but knew arguing with her was pointless. Annoyed, he said, "Eat your breakfast and get out. Stop hanging around my house, you’re too damn loud. Besides, if the villagers see you, they’ll start gossiping. Just go."

"Where are you going?" Instead of leaving, Qin Susu asked curiously, "Aren’t you delivering vegetables to my cousin?"

"None of your business!" Li Yang snapped. "Cut the crap. I’m busy and I don’t have time for you."

With that, Li Yang slung his herb basket over his shoulder and left.

"Wherever you’re going, I’m coming too!" Qin Susu insisted on tagging along, abandoning her breakfast.

Li Yang sighed in resignation and turned back to her. "Look, Miss Qin, I’m going up the mountain to gather medicinal herbs. It’s steep and the forest is thick. You shouldn’t come."

"Absolutely not, I have to go!" The suggestion seemed to energize Qin Susu. "How could I miss out? I love the mountains! Let’s go, let’s go..."

Li Yang was exasperated but let her tag along.

But Qin Susu was surprisingly fit. She kept up with Li Yang all the way up the mountain without a single complaint of being tired.

Once they were on the mountain, Li Yang began searching for herbs.

He had to admit, thanks to the bans on hunting and logging, many of these mountain forests had been left untouched by people for years. As a result, the woods were dense and teeming with vegetation.

And plenty of medicinal herbs!

Li Yang had only made a couple of passes through the area, but he had already gathered a number of high-quality medicinal herbs.

As for Qin Susu, she was happily running wild in the mountains with the two large dogs.

’From the look of it, she was having a blast.’

But just then, with a soft THUMP, something hit Qin Susu on the head.

"You bastard, how dare you throw something at me!" Thinking it was Li Yang, Qin Susu whirled around furiously to glare at him.
