The System Keeps Making Me Do Indecent Missions [BL, R18]
Chapter 79: Setting Things RightChapter 79: Chapter 79: Setting Things Right
The midday sun slanted through the curtains, casting pale streaks of light onto Lucien’s bare back. He remained lying on his stomach, scrolling back and forth on his phone through the video Mrs. Vance had just posted. His lips curled up slightly, though it was unclear what he found so amusing.
Mrs. Vance’s post seemed like a simple defense of her son, but in reality, it dealt a heavy, silent blow to the entire Sinclair family. After all, as a member of the Vance family, Mrs. Vance naturally prioritized her own family’s public image. Through her words in the video, Mr. Sinclair was inadvertently painted as a man who brought in a second wife, neglected his own flesh and blood, had an affair, and allowed his illegitimate son to usurp the rightful heir. Consequently, Miles’s status as an illegitimate child was dragged into the harsh light of day.
Of course, high society already knew that Miles’s mother was Mr. Sinclair’s mistress, but the general public was oblivious. Now that Mrs. Vance had spoken up, the scandal would only spread further among the masses. Furthermore, she had skillfully crafted an image for Lucien as a pitiful child oppressed by his stepmother.
Public opinion always favored the underdog. This framing made people naturally side with Lucien, lambasting the Sinclair family while conveniently tossing a word of praise to the Vance family.
A single video resolved her son’s scandal while simultaneously building up her family’s reputation. Truly worthy of a powerful household, every media move they made was laden with hidden motives.
But that did not matter. Lucien smiled, after all, this calculated move only benefited him, so there was nothing to worry about.
At that moment, the door was pushed open. Because Lucien was lying on his stomach, he could not tell if the person entering was Dominic or a servant. He quickly pulled the blanket up to cover his bare back before slowly turning around. It was not that he was being deliberately sluggish, but his waist, after a morning of being pinned down and toyed with on the dining table by Dominic, truly required gentle movement.
If he whipped around too forcefully, Lucien felt he might need to replace his waist entirely.
Once he turned, Lucien saw the main culprit responsible for his miserable state walking in with a small food tray. The sunlight behind the man cast his face into shadow, but Lucien could still tell that Dominic was looking at the glowing phone screen in his hand.
"You are awake?" Dominic’s voice was steady. He placed the tray on the nightstand, letting the faint aroma of plain porridge waft into the air: "Eat a little."
Lucien blinked, instantly relaxing his features to adopt a groggy, half-awake expression. He nestled into the blanket, revealing only his large, round eyes. His voice was as quiet as a mosquito: "I... I just saw your mother’s video."
Dominic did not sit down. He leaned against the edge of the bedside table, looking down at Lucien: Yes. My mother said it wouldn’t be good to let them keep spreading nonsense. If I spoke up, they might not believe it, so she decided to step forward and clarify things herself."
"I..." Lucien’s eyes immediately welled with tears as he gently bit his lower lip: "Is she really only acknowledging me? I mean, regarding the marriage arrangement... I really didn’t know. I thought my father had already decided it belonged to Miles."
As Lucien spoke, tears slid down his cheeks, dropping one by one like a broken string of pearls. Even his voice and sentences were a jumbled mess, as if he hadn’t had the time to organize his thoughts. His fingers lightly gripped the edge of the blanket, and his shoulders trembled visibly.
"I already told you, the position belonged to you from the start. It is simply being returned to you, so why are you so worked up?"
"But my father..."
"He has no authority in this matter." Dominic replied. He sat down next to Lucien, picked up the bowl of porridge, scooped a spoonful, blew on it gently, and brought it to Lucien’s lips.
"Open your mouth."
Lucien looked up at the man. Dominic’s eyes were dark and unreadable, yet his precise movements were so patient that it made it impossible to refuse. He obediently opened his mouth and took the spoonful. The taste was different from the morning, a new batch must have been cooked. It had a mild, soothing flavor with a delicate hint of sweetness, and was actually quite delicious.
"Stop thinking about those people." Dominic said smoothly, scooping up another spoonful: "In the future, you will be a member of the Vance family. You don’t need to care about anyone from the Sinclair family."

The system’s sudden notification gave Lucien quite a start. He was honestly beginning to lose track of how this system calculated its points. However, when he called out, 000 did not respond, it seemed their side had yet to finish processing its internal issues.
Seeing this, Lucien decided not to care anymore. He continued to obediently let Dominic feed him, occasionally gazing at the man with sparkling eyes brimming with love.
...
That afternoon, Dominic’s father sent a summons, primarily calling the involved parties over to clarify the marriage arrangement.
Lucien was brought over by Dominic’s people. He wore a simple, pale blue outfit, the collar buttoned securely up to his collarbones. He stepped into the grand living room of the Vance estate, where Mrs. Vance, Mr. Sinclair, and Miles were already present. Even though Mr. Vance had called the meeting, he had business at the company, leaving everything for his wife to handle.
The atmosphere in the room was as heavy as lead. Mrs. Vance sat in the seat of honor, holding a teacup, her expression as relaxed as if she were enjoying a theatrical play. Mr. Sinclair sat opposite her, his face pale with anger and humiliation. As for Miles, he stood beside his father, his eyes red and his hands clenched so tightly they trembled, yet he did not dare utter a word of protest in front of the elders.
As soon as Lucien walked in, all eyes darted toward him. He lowered his head slightly, slowing his footsteps, and lightly gripped Dominic’s sleeve. The man had just appeared from behind, placing a hand on Lucien’s back to support him.
"Lucien, come here and sit next to me." Mrs. Vance waved her hand, her voice gentle yet authoritative.
Lucien looked up at her, his eyes filled with genuine surprise and gratitude. He murmured a soft yes and walked over. He intentionally walked very slowly, putting on a display of having been loved so fiercely that his legs could barely carry him. Dominic followed closely behind, silently pulling out a chair for Lucien to sit right next to Mrs. Vance, before standing behind the chair himself, resting a hand lightly upon Lucien’s shoulder.
"Mr. Sinclair." Mrs. Vance spoke up directly, bypassing any pleasantries: "I invited you here today to make things perfectly clear. You must have seen the video I posted this morning. I have no intention of humiliating anyone. I merely wish to set everything back onto its proper track. Lucien is the son of an old friend, and he is also the son-in-law that my husband and I chose long ago. This cannot be changed."
Mr. Sinclair’s face darkened, but he did not dare argue directly. He glanced over at Dominic, only to see him standing there expressionless, though his chilling gaze was enough to send a shiver down one’s spine. Swallowing his anger, he turned to Lucien: "You... you are quite something."
Lucien looked at the older man’s fury, then glanced at Miles’s face, which was struggling so hard to endure that he looked on the verge of madness, and sneered inwardly. Outwardly, he simply bowed his head and murmured, "Father, I honestly didn’t... I only just found out about it this morning. I never thought there would be a day..."
"Say no more." Mrs. Vance interrupted, gently patting Lucien’s hand. "You do not need to explain anything to the person who abandoned you. This marriage arrangement originally belonged to you, and he was not the one who established it, so what right does he have to scold anyone?"
"Mrs. Vance, for you to speak like that, it doesn’t seem quite right..."
Mr. Sinclair had just intended to retort when he was shut down by her: "What is not right? This marriage was arranged by myself and your wife, I mean your late wife. What right do you and your illegitimate son have to even speak?"
"Mr. Sinclair, previously my family only accepted Miles because you and your second wife constantly sang his praises, telling us how well-behaved and good he was. But why don’t you ask that good son of yours how much trouble he has already caused for my family!"
"What exactly do you mean by saying that?"
"Why do you not simply try asking your own son and find out for yourself!"
