Victoria sat in one of the rooms of the student council as she thought over the recent council meeting.

Kael’s presence had seemingly turned the entire board of politics in the academy.

Though there hadn’t been any reports of the core members of her faction leaving yet... Victoria was certain that seeing Kael’s support for Ashlyn would make many doubt their decisions.

After all no one likes to bet on a sinking ship.

Right now everyone was simply observing how things were being played, but someday or the other, the members of her faction would take their final decision and she had to make sure that their decisions would be in her favour.

Victoria had been planning to recruit Kael on her side, but from the start she knew that it was going to be a difficult endeavour.

Still, Victoria wasn’t one to lose her hope, but maybe... she had been a little too slow in her approach.

Victoria knew that Ashlyn would try to recruit Kael on her own side, but never did she imagine that it would be so quick.

Now that things had come to this point, Victoria couldn’t keep dwelling on the past.

She had to manage with whatever pieces were still left on the board.

"Noah would be arriving soon."

Ella informed Victoria while being seated on a chair that was a little distance away from the latter.

"What are the chances of recruiting him?"

Victoria stared at the ceiling above while asking the question to her friend.

"Noah hasn’t shown any sort of closeness with the other factions in the council so... I do think there’s a good chance that he will join us. After all you are the sister of one of his close friends."

Ella stated the fact, though the last part of her statement was meant to tease Victoria.

Both of them had observed the growing closeness between Alicia and Noah, and despite the latter being a commoner, Victoria hadn’t said anything to Alicia, and had allowed her to do whatever she wanted to as per her wishes.

It wasn’t like Victoria supported their relationship, though objectively speaking they hadn’t gotten into a relationship... yet.

But Victoria was certain that both Noah and Alicia had some feelings for each other.

Thinking about Noah, the guy was stronger than almost every generation of first years, and would definitely become someone who would be valued by the empire or whichever power Noah might decide to align with.

Being from the Veltran Empire didn’t necessarily mean that Noah would stand in support of the empire, as at the end he was a commoner.

And commoners had no direct connection with the royalty unlike the rest of the noble houses in the empire who were bound by their respective oaths.

Also the benefits that a commoner could have received from the empire were close to negligible as despite being in an era of change... the current noble society still viewed commoners as people who were beneath them.

And that thinking was what had always sparked the flames of dissatisfaction and rebellion in the masses.

It was only because of their lack of strength that the commoners hadn’t yet rebelled against their rulers or else there would have been a civil war in every empire out there in the world.

Victoria knew Noah would become useful for her house after reaching higher ranks in the path of cultivation, but marrying Alicia to him would still be quite the challenge, as at the end he was just a commoner.

Yet, despite everything there was a good probability that Father would allow Noah to be married into the house, as his principles were based on competence rather than bloodline.

Knock. Knock.

"Come in."

Ella’s voice echoed in the room, and soon the door was opened.

"Miss soon-to-be President, I have brought your guest."

A male with dazzling brown hair stepped in, the smile on his face charming as ever.

"Sometimes I just wonder whether you are praying for her defeat, Fiul."

Ella sighed, making Fiul’s expression turn sour.

"You wound me... Ella."

"..."

"..."

Both Victoria and Ella had narrowed their eyes, as Fiul uttered the statement which was very similar to a certain someone in the recent meeting.

"My apologies... but your brother is really something else."

Fiul raised his hands in surrender seeing the mood in the room turning serious.

"And let’s not make our guest stand in solitude. Noah, please take your seat."

Turning around, Fiul motioned to Noah, making the latter smile awkwardly at his statement before moving his gaze around the room to find a suitable place for him to sit.

"Oops! I forgot there’s no extra chair in the room. Such lack of management."

Fiul scratched the back of his head, as he apologetically looked at Noah.

"It’s fine... I can simply stand here—"

"Why would you?!"

Fiul raised his voice in a dramatic manner making Noah flinch for a moment.

"Ella... if you would be generous enough."

Ella narrowed her eyes at Fiul’s words, but didn’t reply, choosing to simply stand up from her seat, before motioning Noah to take her place.

"Miss... I am really okay standing—"

"You may take the seat... student Noah."

Victoria put an end to the drama before her.

Her words were absolute, leaving no room for refusal, and so Noah obliged without any resistance whatsoever.

"I will get to the point, student Noah."

Victoria, seeing there being no need to play an elaborate game of words, directly got to the point, making Noah straighten his back in response.

"Join me."

"..."

"..."

"..."

That must have been the worst pitch that anyone, be it Noah, Ella or Fiul, might have heard in their lifetime.

Getting to the point and only saying the desired point with no explanations whatsoever were totally different things.

Victoria knew about it, still she didn’t care to sugar-coat her words, as there was no need to.

"I won’t make any grand promises or show you some prosperous future, because I think you are smart enough to know what return you will get once I win the elections and become the next president of the student council."

Seeing Noah’s silence, Victoria clarified herself with the bare minimum words without sounding desperate in any way.
