There was no need to be desperate as Noah was just an addition to her forces, not the Joker of her deck.
And despite his immense potential, at the moment he was just a first year, with no influence in the academy.
Kael on the other hand, despite his low rank, was a force to be reckoned with, and as for his popularity... there was no one in the academy who didn’t know of Kael.
Commoners had now become his most loyal supporters, with many nobles finding him the epitome of power and prestige that a noble should always be.
But now that Victoria couldn’t recruit him, she had to do with whatever leftover pieces she had.
Little did she know that the guy before her was a monster that had yet to awaken.
After his awakening... he wouldn’t just be a force to be reckoned with but a calamity to be feared and revered by mortals and gods alike.
Still, that didn’t mean that Victoria was underestimating Noah.
She wasn’t foolish enough to let him go and become part of some other faction.
It was just that, as a Frost... arrogance was imprinted in her very blood.
Spreading her hands before someone wasn’t her way, and even if she had been in a god’s presence... Victoria would have acted the same.
"So... what’s your decision?"
Noah hadn’t replied yet, prompting Ella to take the initiative.
Noah’s presence might not have been a game changer at the moment, but he was still someone who would be immensely useful to Victoria in the future.
Ella didn’t wish for her friend to lose such an ally.
"Alicia is a good friend of mine, which was why I had the thought of joining your faction."
After a long, extended silence, Noah’s voice echoed through the room, resulting in all eyes being focused on him.
"I may be younger than you, but in no way am I ignorant of my worth."
"..."
Victoria didn’t interrupt Noah, letting him speak his mind.
Noah’s voice was no longer as polite as it had been at the start.
He wasn’t rude, but nor was he submissive like before.
"I hope you could provide me with better terms or else there are other factions that I could join and be valued more than being treated as a mere piece on the greater board."
The thing that Noah detested the most was being treated as a nobody.
That was why he had an inherent hate towards the nobles who always acted as if they were born more special than the rest.
That only because their bloodline was more unique than the masses, they were entitled to act above the others.
Noah’s polite and positive nature was just a habit that he had picked up from childhood.
Being raised in an orphanage meant that he had to behave like a good kid, so that the rest would treat him in a better way.
Now that he had the strength to fight for himself, Noah wouldn’t be submissive before others... and particularly not towards a girl who was just a rank above him.
If push came to shove, Noah was confident in himself to be able to fight on equal grounds against Victoria Frost... the vice president of the student council.
"If you wish to join other factions, then I won’t stop you—"
Before Victoria could complete her statement, Noah got up from the chair before walking towards the exit.
He didn’t say any words, but his silence was an answer in itself.
Ella and Fiul were a little startled seeing the sudden turn of events.
Neither of them had expected such decisiveness from Noah, as from his usual behaviour, the guy seemed a lot friendlier than the kids his age.
"Just remember one thing."
Noah had his right hand on the handle of the door, but before he could open it, Victoria’s soft yet firm voice echoed from behind.
Noah didn’t turn around, but neither did he leave the room, hinting at Victoria to finish her statement.
"If by some chance, you end up in a faction against me... forget about pursuing any sort of relationship with my sister. I won’t let you get near her."
"..."
The temperature in the room seemed to have dropped, but Victoria remained unfazed and continued to speak.
"Alicia obeys me no matter the circumstance, so... think before taking any decision."
Silence.
Ella and Fiul held their breaths, as they could feel the rising tension in the room.
Normally Victoria was always practical and cool-headed, but today for some reason she was being a lot more aggressive than her usual way of operating.
Ella just hoped that it wouldn’t backfire.
"Are you threatening me?"
Noah asked in a voice which was close to a whisper, yet the words were clear for everyone to hear.
"No... I am just stating the fact—"
Swoosh!
"Victoria—"
"Captain—"
Clank!
In a blink of an eye, Noah was standing before Victoria, his sword mere inches away from her throat.
The only thing that separated the blade from slicing through the skin of Victoria’s neck, was the latter’s blade, which stayed in its place without moving an inch.
Noah was fast, but Victoria was faster.
She had noticed his attack even before his sword was aimed at her, though Victoria had to commend Noah for being able to move with such agility despite being a Silver 3.
Were all the first years such monsters... fighting with strength that should have been way above their rank?
The question popped into her mind, but Victoria knew that Kael and Noah were the only exceptions.
"You think you have blocked my blade?"
Noah’s eyes were downcast, as he had slightly leaned his head downwards in order to elevate the trajectory of his blade.
Victoria simply raised her brow in question—
"I wanted you to block it... Miss Victoria."
Noah raised his head in slow motion before meeting Victoria’s confused gaze.
A small smile appeared on his face and—
Boom!
A burst of mana exploded from Noah’s blade, resulting in Victoria being slammed against the wall—
But Victoria didn’t stop there as the force of the blast was enough to create a hole in the wall, thereby expelling Victoria from the room.
