Xavier had also informed Irtuk to keep the terms of the deal with Syma favourable for the latter.

It wasn’t out of sympathy but pure logic and practicality.

House Elor’s advertisement and marketing departments were working at full force to spread the word about the generosity of the Eloran Alchemists’ to the public once the deal was finalized.

They had to show the world that House Elor stood with Syma in its darkest hour and would help them combat the terror that the cults had tried to instill in the minds of everyone out there in the world.

Irtuk, on his part, politely took a seat in the lounge, before motioning the rest of the members of the delegation to do the same.

After waiting for about a few minutes, an attendant guided them towards the designated room for the meeting.

***

"They are on their way, sir."

Bowing his head, the security personnel motioned his men to evacuate the meeting room on the instructions of the higher-ups.

No. 8 simply nodded his head as he was engrossed in reading some book that had caught his interest.

As the meeting was meant to be an important and historic one... Julien had sent No. 8 to settle everything with the Eloran Alchemists in a peaceful and polite manner, ensuring that both sides were mutually benefited from the agreement.

After all, D.X. had its eyes fixed on the Eloran Alchemists and House Elor as a whole for quite some time.

Forming a sort of relationship, even if it was on a superficial level, would be helpful for the organization in its plans that were stretched over a long term.

Knock. Knock.

"Sir?"

A staff member knocked on the door outside, prompting No. 8 to take his eyes off the book.

"Please enter."

No. 8 politely uttered the words, getting into his character of a humble leader amongst the leadership of Syma.

On his words, the door opened up, revealing a group of men and women dressed in formal attire, with all of them having green hair and equally green eyes.

The attendant present with the group bowed before No. 8, and then motioned the delegation from the Eloran Alchemists to enter the room.

The first to step in was a young man who appeared to be in his twenties, but the age of the elves was hard to differentiate as most of them maintained a youthful appearance throughout their lives.

The elf leading the delegation had a slim build which looked quite frail for someone who was given the authority to represent the guild.

It was easy for No. 8 to recognise the young man, as he was the eldest child of the Elors.

But despite being a royal, the young man wasn’t as imposing and dominating in his presence compared to how royals generally showcased themselves in public.

While No. 8 observed Irtuk, the latter analysed the representative of Syma in return.

No. 8 had for the time being taken the appearance of a man in his forties, with brown hair and faint brown eyes that reflected the world around in their tiny pupils.

"It’s a pleasure to have you here... Young Master Irtuk."

No. 8 stood from his seat, as he politely extended his hand towards Irtuk while walking towards him at the same time.

"The pleasure is mine."

Irtuk moved closer as he gripped No. 8’s hand with an equally polite gesture.

The rest of the delegation stood behind Irtuk, not interrupting the conversation between the representatives of the two guilds.

No. 8, on his part, was alone in the room, with no one else there to aid him while discussing the terms of the cooperation with the Eloran Alchemists’.

It wasn’t like Syma lacked competent staff, but it was due to No. 8’s own insistence that there were no other members of Syma Alchemists’ present in the room.

"The name’s Alfenzo Demarus, and... well, as you can see, I would be the one representing our guild for the time being."

No. 8—Alfenzo’s lips stretched into a calculated yet positive smile, that could easily put anyone around him at ease.

"Alfenzo, huh... your name’s quite unique, if I may say so."

Irtuk spoke as he pronounced the letters on his tongue.

And indeed the name was quite unique as it was a temporary one that No. 8 had uttered... though the name was already an established one for his current appearance.

Everyone in the guild knew him by the same name.

Alfenzo Demarus... one of the leaders of Syma Alchemists’, and the only one who was well known in the public.

The other leaders were still unknown to the world, though rumours were that Alfenzo was the sole one leading Syma... after all, the rest had never made their public appearance.

His current identity was something that No. 8 had forged in order to give Syma some clarity and reliability in the eyes of the masses, despite the mysteries surrounding the guild’s sudden rise to prominence in the world’s economy.

And as a faceless one, it wasn’t difficult for No. 8 to quickly get used to his new face... and the character that he had to play.

No. 8 had already taken his seat on the sofa arranged for him, while the delegation from the Eloran Alchemists’ sat on the place designated for them.

"Our lord wishes that the two of our guilds work together for the better future of the world, including our individual prosperity as well."

Making himself comfortable, Irtuk crossed his legs while sitting in his usual elegance that wasn’t affected in the least despite all the rumours about his incompetence as an elf floating around.

Irtuk’s posture emitted complete confidence in himself and his abilities, not showing even the slightest hints of what the world... specifically what his fellow clansmen... his kin thought about him.

"The tragedy that had befallen your guild was unacceptable. Only cowards would attack a non-military establishment, and rejoice in the blood of the innocents. For everything that your guild had suffered, I, on behalf of House Elor, offer my condolences."
