The World Is Mine For The Taking
Chapter 1653 - 230 - Training the Heroes (7)Then, without giving himself another opportunity to hesitate, Kashiwagi suddenly dashed toward Beelzebub.
"Raaaagghhh!"
His roar echoed through the area as he charged forward, and this time, it looked like he was completely committed to finishing the fight with one decisive swing.
He wasn't simply trying to scare her anymore.
He genuinely intended to strike.
However, Beelzebub suddenly changed her expression.
"P-Please, don't kill me~."
The moment those words came from her mouth, Kashiwagi hesitated.
"Urgh..."
His blade stopped just short of Beelzebub's face, and that single moment of hesitation was enough to completely ruin the attack he had been building up.
Beelzebub immediately stretched her mouth into a sinister smile.
"Fufufu...!"
She chuckled softly, clearly enjoying the fact that she had managed to make him hesitate with nothing more than a few words.
Then she suddenly flipped herself backward and kicked Kashiwagi directly beneath the chin.
The movement was incredibly smooth, almost unnaturally so, and Kashiwagi's body was sent flipping backward from the force of the attack before he eventually crashed onto the ground.
"I told you that you can't afford to hesitate," I said while watching him from where I stood.
Kashiwagi had been given the perfect opportunity, yet he had allowed his emotions to interfere with his attack at the last possible moment.
Kaori looked toward me for a moment, seemingly thinking about what I had said, before turning her attention back toward Beelzebub.
Then, without wasting another second, she immediately dashed toward her.
Unlike Kashiwagi's earlier charge, Kaori's movement had a much smoother flow to it, and Beelzebub immediately noticed the difference before raising her guard and blocking Kaori's incoming attack.
The sound of their weapons colliding echoed through the area as Kaori pushed forward instead of backing away.
"It seems like you've gained some confidence and aren't hesitating anymore," Beelzebub said with a pleased expression.
Kaori had finally thrown away the hesitation that had been holding her back.
Her eyes looked different now, and the way she moved made it obvious that something had changed inside her.
She wasn't simply attacking anymore.
She had accepted what she needed to do.
Kaori was attacking Beelzebub with the genuine intention of killing her.
"You don't seem to be normal," Kaori said while maintaining her stance and keeping her eyes locked onto Beelzebub. "If you're not normal, then I don't think I can afford to hesitate anymore."
"Fufufufu, I see, I see~!"
Beelzebub stared at her with a completely deranged smile, and the more she realized that Kaori had finally stopped holding herself back, the more excited she seemed to become.
Her eyes practically lit up with anticipation as she looked at the person standing in front of her.
"It looks like this is going to be fun after all!"
It seemed as though something had suddenly ignited deep within Beelzebub, because she abruptly began chuckling to herself, and the sheer amount of bloodlust she released was on an entirely different level from anything any of them had experienced before.
The atmosphere around her seemed to change almost instantly, becoming so oppressive that even breathing felt slightly more difficult, while the killing intent pouring from her body made it painfully obvious that whatever restraint she had been showing before had suddenly disappeared.
Morofuji's knees began trembling almost immediately, and Sakai could only stare at Beelzebub with a stiff expression, seemingly unable to decide whether she should attack first or simply prepare herself for whatever was about to happen.
Kaori, however, seemed to understand the situation better than anyone else present, and judging from the serious expression on her face, she could already sense that something had gone terribly wrong.
"Everyone!" she shouted loudly, trying to get the others' attention before the situation could become even worse.
It was only then that all of them finally turned their attention toward Beelzebub, their expressions becoming serious as they realized that the situation had changed completely right in front of them.
Beelzebub suddenly dashed forward toward Kaori with frightening speed, moving so quickly that her body almost seemed to blur as she crossed the distance between them.
She was moving far too fast, and I seriously doubted that Kaori would have been able to dodge the attack in time, especially since Beelzebub had already committed herself to the strike before anyone could properly react.
However, before Beelzebub could reach Kaori and swing her sword toward her, Kashiwagi was already there, stepping directly between them and blocking the incoming attack with his own sword.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHH!"
Kashiwagi shouted with everything he had as he poured all of the strength in his arms into the clash, forcing his sword against Beelzebub's weapon in an attempt to push her away from Kaori and the others.
The pressure between their weapons became intense enough to make his entire body strain, but Beelzebub simply looked amused by the resistance, almost as though she were enjoying herself despite being forced backward.
Rather than fighting against Kashiwagi's strength directly, Beelzebub used the flat edge of his sword as though it were a platform, placing her foot against it before pushing herself away with a sudden burst of movement.
She jumped backward with surprising ease before landing several meters away, her body remaining perfectly balanced as though the entire exchange had been nothing more than a short warm-up.
Then her eyes shifted toward another target.
This time, it was Sakai.
Sakai immediately noticed where Beelzebub was looking and readied herself, tightening her grip around her knife as she prepared to meet the incoming attack without giving herself any time to panic.
When Beelzebub finally reached her, Sakai slammed her knife against the blade with everything she had, attempting to stop the attack before Beelzebub could bring it down on her.
"Urkk...!"
The pressure behind Beelzebub's attack was far greater than Sakai had expected, and her knees nearly buckled underneath her from the sheer force being pushed against her.
She gritted her teeth and strengthened her stance, forcing her legs to remain steady despite the overwhelming pressure pressing down on her entire body.
For a moment, it looked like she might actually be forced to the ground, but Sakai refused to give in and continued pushing back against Beelzebub's blade.
After taking a deep breath and gathering whatever strength she could still muster, Sakai finally managed to push Beelzebub away and slash her out of the immediate area.
Beelzebub was sent into the air, but instead of losing control of herself, she performed a smooth flip before landing lightly on the floor several meters away from the group.
"Fufufufu..."
The strange laughter that escaped Beelzebub's mouth sent a chill through Sakai's body, and for a brief moment, she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing up as she realized just how much Beelzebub was enjoying the situation.
Beelzebub slowly ran her tongue along the side of her blade before staring directly at the five heroes standing before her, her expression carrying an unsettling mixture of amusement and genuine excitement.
"You heroes certainly have some interesting powers, and I'll give you that much, but..."
She deliberately paused after saying those words, allowing the silence to stretch for a moment before the pressure around her suddenly increased again.
An enormous amount of bloodlust exploded from Beelzebub's body, spreading across the entire facility and covering the surrounding area with an oppressive presence that seemed to settle directly onto the five heroes.
