Transmigrated as a Ghost

Chapter 1192 - 1192 (Spoiler Title at the Bottom of This Chapter)

Marcus' dismissive words enraged the Umbrashnul King, and the man held back no longer. He might have wanted to keep the stolen skills he had taken from Marcus, but he could not allow himself to be delayed and insulted any longer.

He was the ruler of his people, and he had both his pride and a duty to complete.

This war against the Draayer Vampires was a long time coming, and defeat could not be allowed.

When the two of them clashed, Marcus was the one pushed back.

His inability to use mana normally hurt his capabilities across the board.

'I really took for granted how much mana is used for. Losing magic circulation is more impactful than even any of my missing unique skills.' Marcus thought as he parried blow after blow from the Umbrashnul King's spear.

Each strike held the intent to kill, and had Marcus been even slightly weaker, he would have already been overwhelmed.

Thankfully, the boost to his stats from increasing his stat boosting skills helped give him an edge, and shadow resistance was already paying off.

Errant attacks from whirling shadow blades that would have cut him deep before now only left moderate gashes on his form.

Had he been a being of flesh and blood, the hundreds of smaller wounds he was accumulating might have eventually caused a problem from blood loss, but for Marcus they were mere minor inconveniences.

The real issue that he was facing was how quickly he was using up his spiritual energy to compensate for his inability to properly use mana.

He basically had Spirit Healing active at all times, and Spiritual Reinforcement to a far higher degree than normal.

With him being a Supreme Spirit, he had a monstrous amount of spiritual energy, but it was not bottomless.

Eventually, he was going to wear himself out.

However, instead of trying conserve his strength, Marcus decided that the only way forward was to dig deeper.

'Deathly Dominion.'

Marcus' territory specter power swiftly spread out around him as a dark gray, sludge-like substance erupted from his feet.

He kept its size smaller than normal to conserve energy, but he still controlled a space of one kilometer in every direction.

'I hadn't wanted to use this since it creates a shadowy environment. Still, the Umbrashnul King isn't an undead, so my Deathly Dominion should still weaken him.'

And Marcus could feel his opponent stagger for a moment as the ability got to work on draining him.

Except, it was a lot more muted than it had been against most other creatures.

Something about Umbrashnuls made them far less susceptible to life draining powers and death magic.

It was certainly strange, but not something Marcus had time to delve into.

"You truly are full of surprises. Whatever this is was not among the list of skills I could steal. Yet, this desperate gambit will not help you. Though you have weakened me slightly here, the shadows are much stronger now."

With three quick flicks of his spear, the Umbrashnul King sent out waves of rushing towards Marcus.

In response, he created a swarm of inky black tendrils that arose out of the ground and swiping away at his adversary's attacks.

For several seconds, the two of them fought at range, but the Umbrashnul King soon dashed from his position and closed the distance between them.

Despite being within his own territory, Marcus was the one being pressed.

His foe kept on him, striking with deadly precision every time he attacked.

Marcus knew that he could not keep up like this.

During their exchange of blows, he had managed to land a few hits, but even with his scythe emitting light energy, he was only able to cause minor wounds.

Where before he would have carved right through the Umbrashnul King, not his weapon only left scratches.

Even using the shadowy species' weakness, it just was not strong enough to get the job done.

'I need something else. This just isn't going to work.' Marcus thought as the pressure of a losing battle weighed down on him.

He honestly considered retreating.

It would not be easy to do, but he figured that with his Dark Portal unique skill he could get away.

Still, even if he did, his skills were not coming back until the Umbrashnul King was dead.

Maybe he could gather more allies to come back with him later and kill the man. Though there were a lot of unknown variables involved and it would be difficult to find anyone that could actually put the man down. Marcus did not know anyone with a more powerful light affinity than himself.

Yet, as he was racking his mind for something, anything that might allow him to turn things around, Forlorieous' words echoed through his mind.

"Your powers are much freer than you realize."

His thoughts then slipped towards a conversation he had had with the Administrator about Mirrion's system.

It was just a training tool and meant to accelerate people's growth. But it was not some ultimate authority that ruled what could and could not be accomplished.

There were skills that were not represented by the system, such as control over spiritual energy. That was something Marcus had needed to figure out on his own.

'My skills may be gone, but it's not like my affinity for light magic has disappeared and I can still feel my mana even if it doesn't move as seamlessly as before. Perhaps the unique skills are a bit different, but it shouldn't be impossible for me to use light magic. I'm a f*cking Supreme Spirit of Light and Darkness after all.'

He recalled how Forlorieous had caused the entire landscaped destroyed during his party's battle with Gronex to spring with new life with just the clap of her hands.

That had not been any sort of spell derived from the system, but just a pure manifestation of nature magic.

'If she can do that, I should be able to do something similar.' Marcus thought, digging deep and pulling his mana out despite the resistance.

It was not easy. In fact, it hurt a lot. Had he still been human, he likely would have ruptured like a bloody balloon. And he still had to use a charge of Ultimate Refresh to make sure he could continue fighting

Nevertheless, he kept going, and eventually he was able to make his mana flow again. Albeit with far more difficulty than before.

'This will do at least. Now to bring out the light.'

Marcus may not have had the skill any longer, but he still remembered how it felt to cast light magic.

To start he focused on one of the spells that he cast the most due to its speed and high damage output for its tier.

The Umbrashnul King never saw it coming as Marcus focused mana on the tip of his right index finger and started changing it to light energy.

What normally would have been instant took him nearly ten seconds to conjure, but he soon had a light magic attack ready.

After locking his scythe with his opponent's spear, Marcus pulled with all his might, knocking them both off balance.

This left him momentarily open to reprisal, but that was what he wanted.

Once the Umbrashnul King had committed to his attack, Marcus pointed his finger at the center of the man's torsos and fired the laser spell he had conjured without the use of the light magic skill.
