Transmigration: I Made A Deal With A Man in Yellow
Chapter 74: Sister Friede [7]’2’
The Lion Knight was interrupted again when dozens of spikes rose from below him, so he leapt back to avoid getting impaled.
’3’
He didn’t back away any further, and lunged at me again, throwing a barrage of swings and slashes which were blocked by the countless darkness constructs I’d created, and damn, his attacks were strong.
’4’
My constructs were only able to hold up against one attack before being cut in half by his slashes, showing just how much raw power he had.
’5’
As soon as I counted 5, my body returned to normal and I was able to move.
"So your ability only lasts five seconds."
The Lion Knight froze on the spot as he heard my words.
I smiled at his reaction.
So his ability wasn’t that overpowered. Any sort of power had to have some kind of balance.
But don’t be mistaken, five seconds was actually quite a lot in a fight, where any extra second of an opening could guarantee victory.
And if you were fighting someone like Ezio while frozen for five seconds, that only meant death. Those seconds would be enough for someone like Ezio to kill you.
I just couldn’t imagine how the evolved version of the Lion Knight’s ability would be.
Would it increase the duration? Or the range?
Either way, it would still be very broken.
If only he hadn’t died so early...he had so much potential.
This was one of those times I wished I’d transmigrated with some sort of copying ability — copying his gift would help me a lot in future situations.
Seriously, what a shame.
Now, getting back to the fight.
"Fre—" Before the Lion Knight could utter another command, I interrupted him by releasing an arched dark slash from my blade and sending it in his direction.
This was another way of stopping him from using that gift — interrupting his speech.
The Lion Knight raised his long sword, wrapped in a brown aura, and slashed it down. The moment his blade collided with my attack, an explosion of black and brown erupted, tearing up stone and debris everywhere and raising a cloud of dust.
I didn’t wait for the cloud to settle, I was already on the move, cutting through it with speed.
The only thing the knight saw was me appearing right in front of him, thrusting my blade at his chest.
The knight grunted and his figure disappeared, dodging my sword and reappearing behind me, his blade already swinging down, but I had already expected that and had a spike set up on purpose, already thrusting inches from his chin.
Interrupting him once again.
The spike and blade collided, producing sparks.
I spun on my heel gracefully and delivered a perfectly coordinated roundhouse kick to his chest that sent him back a couple of steps.
I didn’t even let him adjust, and was already upon him — I wasn’t going to let him use the command for as long as I could help it.
Our blades clashed and clashed, creating a shower of sparks in the air.
Each time the Lion Knight tried to throw out a command, I was already there to stop him. It wasn’t an easy job, because I had to keep up with his speed, which was also disgusting.
"You keep interrupting me!" The Lion Knight said as he threw a left hook at me.
"That’s the point." I pulled my head back and his fist passed through where my head had been.
A pillow made of darkness formed under his foot and lifted him into the air, but it didn’t get far before he sliced it in half.
He was suspended mid-air, so I formed a spear in my hand and was about to throw it when—
"FREEZE."
—he finally managed to say the command, freezing me in place with the spear in my hand.
So he fell straight down on me, his sword slashing down, and I knew it wouldn’t end well if it landed. Therefore, tentacles made of darkness rose up from me and formed a cross above me, blocking his blade, which shook the ground on contact.
Clang!
His figure blurred from above and appeared below me in a crouching position, swinging his sword towards my legs, going in for a sweep.
But I wouldn’t let him.
Having already spread my mana on the ground, tentacles rose from below him and grabbed his hands and legs, wrapping tightly around him, stopping him from moving.
I wanted to break his armor, so I increased the force of the tentacles, squeezing tighter than an anaconda’s deadly hug.
However, his armor was so tough that I had to infuse more mana into the tentacles until a dent finally formed in it.
But just before I could squeeze harder—
"Futile attempt!" The Lion Knight released an intense brown aura from his body, which burst and disintegrated the tentacles around him.
I managed to raise a wall in front of me to block the blast, but it barely did anything — it broke into pieces, and I was sent flying like a ragdoll through the air before hitting the ground hard on my back.
"Ugh, my back!" I groaned and touched it as I finally regained the ability to move.
This bastard had just used both of his gifts in a row!
I rolled a bit further on the ground of my own volition before getting up.
"You know, that’s very rude, you can’t just explode like that!" I said, pointing my katana at the Lion Knight.
Even though I was complaining, I was happy, because that attack may have consumed quite a lot of mana, judging by its intensity.
So go on, blast yourself again!
"You talk too much." The Lion Knight’s voice suddenly came from my left, which I had already sensed, since I had my darkness circle spread out in a 20-meter radius.
But being able to sense him and being fast enough to block his attack were two different things.
At that moment, like a rocket, his fist connected with my stomach, and let me tell you, I had never felt so much pain in my life...two lives, to be exact.
