(Song Recommendation: Comfort Chain)

THE ’LOVE’ BEGINS.

Doha woke up feeling awake. As if he had awakened after a long and dreary sleep.

Beside him in his arms, Song-rik was sleeping with a wincing expression as his eyebrows twitched.

Doha remembered almost nothing about the rose fields and whatever happened there.

But he did remember something else. The memories of the novel’s Yeon Doha, from childhood to right up the moment when he transmigrated into his body, he recalled everything.

As if they were never gone. Like they had been his own memories all along.

He had completely become the character named Yeon Doha.

Mentally and physically, he could no distinguish between himself and Doha.

But he felt more happy than frightened as before.

Can... I... stay here forever then?

He asked himself as he looked at Song-rik’s face with bubbling excitement.

How wonderful.

He kissed the omega’s cheek softly as he rose.

He had never felt more clear headed and happy ever before in his life.

The very thought that he could now stay with Jang Song-rik forever now, was making him jump around with excitement.

"Doha-ya?" Jang Song-rik rose his head in delirium as he looked around to spot a certain overly excited alpha, dressing for their festival date ahead.

He suddenly stood up and ran over to Doha. He held his face, dragging him closer to his face and looking carefully up his nose.

Weirded out and embarrassed at being seen up the nostrils, Doha staggered and asked, "Hyung.... What are you doing?"

"You were bleeding from the nose a lot, last night," Song-rik said while being entirely focused on the two holes in Doha’s nose. "I was hoping not to find a corpse beside me in the morning."

"Pfft....!" Doha almost broke into a laughter. He looked at the endearing face of Jang Song-rik and pecked on his lips.

"Morning kiss."

Song-rik blushed and nodded as he proceeded to run away to the bathroom to brush and change into ’date’ clothes.

Doha wore a blue shirt without anything underneath as they were probably going to swim and it was a much warmer day.

Song-rik came out of the bathroom with his hair back in a head band and in a baby blue half sleeve shirt with white shorts.

Doha looked at him and froze. That man didn’t look anything like 29. If he had just met Song-rik randomly on the street like, he would’ve thought him to be a freshman in college.

Doha looked at the bare forehead as if it were his new canvas.

"Did you match with me, hyung?" He said teasingly as he rubbed his nose tip on the forehead. "We’re both wearing blue."

And with that he latched into the forehead right in the middle above the bridge of Song-rik’s eyebrows.

"Argh! No! Wait! I need to keep my hair up, I get too sweaty!!" Song-rik tried to break away from the sucking demon.

But it was futile effort.

The mark was made and made very well.

By the time he got his forehead back, Doha had left a huge red hickey in the middle of Jang Song-rik’s forehead.

"Tell me the truth, you did that on purpose!!!!" Song-rik yelled as he blushed.

Doha looked away and sneered cheerfully.

"Well, you’re not allowed to look so cute to anyone besides me," He chuckled.

Song-rik became quiet suddenly as he looked at Doha’s back shyly.

He stepped forward a bit and hugged him from behind.

"As if anyone else would even notice me besides you," He mumbled.

The two became silent mutually before bursting into laughter that echoed into the hallway outside.

Then the long awaited date began.

The festival was actually... mediocre at best.

There were stalls that could only barely qualify for a famous festival that people had traveled hours to reach.

A lot of the foods they tried were only just media hype as they actually tasted pretty bad.

Even the bunny doll Doha won for Song-rik in the ball game, was packed with dust and spiders from how old it was.

The festival in and itself was pretty terrible.

But it eventually mattered nothing because they were achieving the very core objective of this trip.

Enjoying it.

Doha and Song-rik were having the time of their lives. Even the bad preparation of the rest of the festival didn’t bother them much as they laughed away any problematic things.

They even ripped off a mean cafe owner by pretending there was a rat in his drink.

Though the fact that he agreed so quickly about their drinks having rats in them was quite disturbing.

"I don’t think I want to drink it now," Song-rik poured away his drink under a tree near the beach.

"That guy sure grossed us out," Doha said, holding Song-rik’s cup along with his own and then he threw them into a dustbin.

They had walked away plenty further from the main festival and only a few stalls were scattered here and there.

It was almost evening so the weather had gotten moderately colder. Not enough to make the teeth jittery. But enough to feel the refreshing cool breeze coming from the sea.

Maybe it was because of the disappointing festival that most of the people had already returned homes and the remaining one were returning to their hotel rooms.

A few people were still around, mainly students who had come for college retreat and couples just like them.

The students had brought fireworks that they were about to blow sneakily as they were not allowed there on the beach due to littering problems.

"Do you think they’ll still fire them?" Song-rik asked looking in their direction.

"It would be pretty romantic for us if they did," Doha whispered in Song-rik’s ear before blowing air into it and making a run for it.

He ran in front of Song-rik towards the waterline as Song-rik just stood still for a bit.

Then he realized the taunt and chased after the bratty younger alpha.

The moment couldn’t have been more perfect as the sun began setting along with Doha and Song-rik entering the water in the cat and mouse chase.

Song-rik eventually caught up with Doha and pushed him into the water, drenching him completely.

"That’s unfair, hyung," Doha cooed. "What if I freeze to death?"

"Then there’d be two of us," Song-rik snapped. "Don’t talk about dying so easily."

"You just made a joke about finding my corpse this morning, hyung."

"It’s different when I say it. You make it sound as if it would really happen."

"... "

"... "

"You know what, hyung, when I learn I’m about to die, pray to God I do, I’ll just disappear randomly. I’ll not die in front of you. That way, I’ll never die for you. You’ll keep thinking; ’Oh! That trashy alpha who left me behind?! He must be alive out there somewhere.’ That would be way easier than knowing I’m dead and never coming back. That way, at least in hope that I might come back, you’ll live out your entire life either waiting or resenting me. Both are great outcomes if they protect you from the despair of losing someone to death."

"... "

"Did I ramble on too much?"

"How dare you..?"

Song-rik sat on top of Doha and slapped him across the face.

Doha looked at the half drenched omega’s face on top of him. He wasn’t crying, he was... what do called it... SAD.

It was quite extraordinary to such an emotion on Song-rik’s face.

"How dare you think I’m so weak that I won’t be able to handle your death?!"

"Huh?" Doha was genuinely confused.

That’s what you’re mad about?!

"I... I want your everything. Your happiness, sadness, pleasure, pain, life as well as your death. I want to be there when your journey ends and you finally rest. You taking away that from me is as equal to saying you’d rather not watch my funeral as well!"

"That’s not what I meant... "

"That’s not for you to decide?! My grief and sadness should be my choice! Who do you think you are to decide what would make miserable and what would not?! You think hating you or waiting for you while never knowing you’re dead would put me at any better position than watching you dead?! You’re wrong! Take that back! What you said! Take it back!"

Doha was... speechless. It was the second time after their fight before that Song-rik had given him a piece of his mind like this.

Doha smiled as rays of sun illuminated half of his face.

"I take it back. I’ll never disappear. I promise."

He said.

"Good for you!!" Song-rik yelled before pulling him into a kiss.

As they were kissing, the fireworks finally went off and they briefly broke lip contact to see the view.

It was beautiful.

For Song-rik at least.

Because Yeon Doha seeing something else entirely.

He saw the fireworks along with the prettiest existence for him.

His eyes focused on Song-rik.

"Hyung," He called.

"Yeah?" Song-rik asked, still looking up.

"Do we really have to wait for my birthday?"

Song-rik froze and then looked down at the alpha who was now gripping his thighs and looking at him with desire packed in his eyes.
