Arisea Station had fully recovered.
That was the general consensus of the city anyway.
Anlesa did watch someone trip, knocking in a domino style a bunch of standing polearms, which eventually ended with an axehead polearm falling onto a barrel that contained a bunch of somewhat alive fish. Which broke and caused a bunch of people to try and grab fish that were flopping all over the ground.
Besides that, the daily processes of the city had basically returned to normal.
[So. We have a problem.] (Syrus)
[Sigh…] Luna had a feeling this wasn’t going to go anywhere productive. [What’s the problem?]
Before Syrus made her ominous statement. Everything had been going well. Well, as well as their current life could be going. The talk about focus hadn’t caused any adjustments in their daily life for the moment, but all three had been doing individual plotting.
Nothing major, but they had been thinking about what they wanted on an individual level.
Syrus didn’t immediately answer. Her eyes looked to the sun. The bright ball of fire in the sky told her that what she wanted was an important requirement.
[When we went to Eletscoep, we tried to acquire an enchanted weapon but completely failed.] (Syrus)
[That’s a harsh way to put it…] (Eva)
[It is correct.] Syrus was firm in her reply.
For Luna and Eva, the fact that they didn’t get an enchanted weapon, an artefact of that nature, wasn't the end of the world. They did think it would be useful, and they were curious, as neither had used such a weapon in their past lives for obvious reasons. However, Syrus saw Eletscoep as their best opportunity, and they completely wasted it.
[We didn’t even use our advantage of being connected to a member of the royal family to pull some strings.] (Syrus)
[Last time I checked, pretty much all the different smiths were either on strike/break because of the incident, or were being contracted to repair the damage that occurred to the city.] Luna remembered the facts of the situation well, as Syrus did try to see if she could grab an enchanted weapon before they left.
[Pshh, nothing they offered fit our needs.] (Syrus)
[...] (Eva)
[...] (Luna)
The duo wondered if something had flicked in the redhead’s brain, which turned up her greed factor.
She wasn’t exactly wrong. To their surprise, most of the enchanted weapons that they had in storage were knives. Which made practical sense, since they were smaller; there was less chance of messing up the process. However, while they could use a knife, their style of combat mostly involved maintaining an advantage with reach–wires, longsword, and magic—when they weren’t in a state where they could just overpower their opponent.
The reason they didn’t end up picking up a knife was so that in the future, when they returned, they could seek an opportunity to use that favour for a weapon that was more in line with their fighting style. That plan made sense. Eletscoep had a lot of rebuilding to do and would need plenty of time to complete all that work.
Along with that rebuild would be an amount of rearming because most of the city’s combat power had been redirected into one man’s private army.
So, eventually there could be weapons suitable for Syrus to pick up.
While they were chatting, someone accidentally stabbed a horse in the butt with the edge of their weapon as they were walking by, which resulted in them being kicked right into a nearby stall. No one seemed horribly injured, so Anlesa chose to ignore that.
[Don’t worry, I think we can brute force a solution.] (Syrus)
[This is not going to end well.] (Luna)
[Please don’t tell me this is going to involve me learning engraving?] (Eva)
[Didn’t you say you wanted to learn?] Syrus didn’t deny Eva’s fears.
[I wouldn’t mind when and if we had the time. Which is certainly not now. I am already using most of my allocated time on crafting potions!] Eva really wished she had the ability to just physically shake Syrus. [IT IS NOT SOMETHING ONE CAN PICK UP IN A MONTH, LET ALONE A WEEK!]
[It will be fine.] Syrus said extremely nonchalantly. [We don’t need you to learn; we just need to brute force it with a good smith.]
[Luna…] (Eva)
[Yes, Lilly…] (Luna)
[Did Syrus take drugs while we weren’t looking…] (Eva)
[I don’t believe so… but I am beginning to doubt myself.] (Luna)
[If I could do that, then I would have managed something truly miraculous.] (Syrus)
[So what are you even thinking…] (Luna)
[Well, custom order for one. So the plan is. Let’s go to a smith and discuss making an enchanted weapon. We can practise, and together we can make something great for ourselves.] (Syrus)
Eva was ready to blow a fuse. [Oh yeah, great idea, I’m sure it will work perfectly besides the fact—I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START WITH ENGRAVING!!!] (Eva)
[What is the worst that can happen? It should be a fun time. I have also listened around, and some of the smiths here do know about the basics of engraving, even if they cannot perform it themselves. Many were taught by the same person.] (Syrus)
[I don’t understand how you even hear these things and process them when we cannot…] (Luna)
[It’s a mighty skill.] (Syrus)
[We share the same ears…] (Luna)
[And you still haven’t managed to differentiate between the various sounds.] (Syrus)
[Sigh… Okay Syrus. Let’s go visit a shop and see how well this idea goes.] Someone on the street shivered as they saw a deadly smile appear on Eva’s face.
[Sure.] Syrus was in a gambling mood.
They walked down to Kevin’s workshop. There was a great lack of confidence from certain members of the trio that anything Syrus wanted would succeed.
“It’s been a long time.” Syrus looked towards the workshop. The reason she picked Kevin’s place in the first place was that she was still satisfied with the work he provided previously. She continuously studied the weapons bought from other smiths and felt safe in her assertion that he was one of the best.
[Is he even here today?] (Luna)
“Cough!” They heard a loud cough from within the shop.
“Does look like he is in the store.” Syrus walked up to the door and prepared to knock.
Before her knuckles came into contact with the wooden frame of the door. There was a squeak, a crack, and then a crack.
Crumble
The building collapsed in front of them… and the four surrounding buildings.
[...] (Eva)
[...] (Syrus)
[...What…] (Luna)
They heard coughing sounds as Kevin pulled himself out of his own collapsed workshop.
“Argh, can someone help? Argh, I think I’ve strained a bone.” Kevin complained, but he didn’t appear too injured.
“...Sure…” Anlesa rescued him and then went to help pull the people out of the other surrounding buildings.
The day had been a very odd day.
