Triple X System

Chapter 410: Clover Council (5)

The pillar of pitch-black energy collided with Seraphina’s miniature sun in midair. The sky split with a sound like tearing metal, shockwaves shattering every glass window across the inner spire. White-gold light and void-black mist cancelled each other out in a violent cascade of ozone and falling ash.

Seraphina drifted back down to the stone platform, her staff humming violently as she absorbed the recoil. Her golden eyes narrowed, locked onto Kyle as the dark pillar settled back into his sternum.

Kyle fell to his knees, his throat burning, blood dripping from his nose onto the cracked floor. The amber crystal in his chest was no longer just pulsing—it was spinning, its core glowing like an angry furnace.

[Warning! Limiter override at fatal thresholds!] Snow’s voice chimed, red warning windows stroking across Kyle’s vision. [Entity awareness reached eighty-two percent before emergency containment re-engaged. System destabilization imminent. Auxiliary Link established to compensate for host core overload!]

A translucent, blue holographic panel snapped open beside Snow’s warning window.

Kyle blinked through his blurry vision. The new display wasn’t his. It was a secondary interface, tethered to the person standing directly beside him.

**[BOND LINK ESTABLISHED: COMBAT ALLIANCE]**

**Subject:** Yua

**Race:** Pureblood Vampire (Suppressed)

**Status:** Critical Blood Depletion / Core Instability

**Physical Stats:** STR: 24 | AGI: 31 | VIT: 12 (Draining)

**Active Skill Palette:**

1. **[Blood Edge]** - *Converts user’s vitality into high-density crimson blades.*

2. **[Crimson Step]** - *Short-range blood-phase teleportation.*

3. **[Sanguine Veil]** - *Absorbs kinetic impact using active blood reserves.*

Kyle stared at the floating text, his mind reeling despite the pain. *Vampire?*

He turned his head to look at Yua.

She wasn’t looking at him. Her pale skin had turned almost translucent, and her usual dark eyes had bled into a vivid, crimson red. The subtle fangs he had never noticed before were now fully extended over her lower lip, glistening against the red spotlight of the burning courtyard.

"Kyle," she murmured, her voice carrying an unnatural, echoing resonance. "Hold the line. Get them to the portal."

"Yua, wait—your stats are bottoming out!" Kyle gasped, pointing a shaking hand toward the interface. "Your vitality is at twelve!"

She didn’t answer. Captain Vane had already pushed himself up from the ground, his face covered in blood, his massive broadsword glowing with dark red aura.

"Foul creatures!" Vane roared, charging at them with the speed of a runaway beast. "All of you die here!"

Yua moved.

On Kyle’s digital interface, the skill **[Crimson Step]** flashed bright red.

Yua vanished from sight, leaving behind only a faint, sweet smell of iron and copper in the air. A microsecond later, she materialized directly behind Vane.

**[Blood Edge]** flickered on the interface.

Yua sliced her own palm with her fingernails, the blood instantly hardening into a jagged, crimson glass blade. She drove it straight through the gap in Vane’s heavy shoulder armor.

Vane roared in agony, spinning around to backhand her with his armored gauntlet. The heavy steel caught Yua across the chest, sending her skidding thirty feet across the icy stone. She hit the edge of the iron cage with a brutal thud, coughing up a spatter of dark, thick blood.

[Alert!] Snow’s voice rang in Kyle’s head. [Bond Subject vitality dropped below threshold! Core depletion critical!]

Kyle forced himself up, but before he could take a step, Yua’s stats on the blue interface began to glitch. The numbers scrambled, turning from blue to a dark, angry crimson.

**[CRITICAL TRIGGER: BLOOD LOSS THRESHOLD REACHED]**

**[PASSIVE ACTIVATED: FULL BLOODLUST]**

*Physical Stats Doubled (STR: 48 | AGI: 62)*

*Skill Output: +100%*

*DANGER: Rapid Blood Core Decay. Duration: 180 Seconds before complete core collapse.*

"Yua, no!" Kyle yelled.

Yua stood up slowly. Her eyes were completely red now—no whites, no pupils, just two burning pools of blood. A dark crimson mist erupted from her skin, swirling around her like a hurricane. The wounds on her ribs stopped bleeding, sealed shut by her own thick, glowing blood.

She let out a low, predatory hiss that sent a chill straight down Kyle’s spine.

When Vane swung his broadsword at her a second time, Yua didn’t dodge. She raised one bare hand.

*CLANG!*

The massive iron blade stopped dead in midair, caught cleanly between Yua’s pale fingers. Vane’s eyes bulged in absolute shock as she squeezed her hand. The heavy steel sword cracked, then shattered into a dozen useless fragments.

**[Blood Edge: Maximum Output]**

Yua shifted her weight, and three massive crimson spears formed out of the mist around her. With a flick of her wrist, the spears launched forward, slamming into Vane’s chestplate and driving the heavy guard captain fifty yards backward, pinning him deep into the white stone wall of the spire.

"Monster..." Vane choked out, his eyes rolling back before he went completely still.

Above them, Seraphina’s face darkened. "A blood-sucker in my courtyard. How deep does your corruption go, Elara?"

"She’s my friend!" Elara screamed from the platform, still struggling against the arch-mages holding her. "Mom, stop this!"

Seraphina ignored her, pointing her staff down at Yua. "Purge."

A barrage of golden light spears rained down from the sky.

Yua snapped her attention toward the threat. Her **[Sanguine Veil]** flared, a dome of swirling red blood expanding over her and Kyle. The golden spears slammed into the dome, creating deafening explosions that cracked the stone floor beneath their feet.

[Time remaining in Bloodlust: 110 Seconds,] Snow reported frantically. [Her core is draining at three percent per second! If she doesn’t feed or stop, her blood core will implode!]

Kyle scrambled over to Yua inside the swirling red dome. The pressure outside was incredible, and he could see tiny cracks forming in the blood shield. Yua was trembling, sweat and blood pouring down her face as her doubled stats rapidly burned through her remaining life force.

"Yua! Stop!" Kyle grabbed her arm. "You’re killing yourself!"

She turned her face toward him. The absolute wildness in her red eyes made him flinch, but beneath the feral hunger, he saw a flash of her real self—terrified and exhausted.

"They’re... almost through..." Yua rasped, her voice thick and raspy. "Get them... to the portal..."

Kyle looked past the shield. Marcus and the forty-seven refugees were at the rear utility arch. Marcus was desperately pulling a heavy brass lever built into the wall, trying to align the portal runes.

"It’s jammed!" Marcus screamed over the sound of explosions. "The power array is dead!"

"Elara!" Kyle roared, looking up at the platform.

Elara didn’t hesitate. Seeing her mother focused entirely on Yua’s barrier, Elara bit her own lip until it bled, channeling her remaining mana into her palms. The golden bindings around her shattered. She threw herself off the platform, landing gracefully on the courtyard floor, and sprinted straight for the utility portal lever.

"Traitorous child!" Seraphina turned her staff toward Elara, her face contorted in rare rage.

"Your fight is with me, Grand Duchess!" Kyle shouted.

He didn’t use the entity’s power this time. He took the vial Elara had given him earlier—the empty glass—and smashed it on the stone floor, using his own weak, recovered mana to trigger a blinding flash-burst array he’d learned back in the training sectors.

A blinding white light flooded the courtyard.

Seraphina shielded her eyes for a split second, her target lock breaking.

That second was all Elara needed. She slammed her hand into the portal mechanism, pouring her fire magic directly into the dormant power conduits.

The heavy stone archway roared to life. A swirling pool of clover-green and silver light expanded in the center of the arch, stabilizing into a clear view of a misty, pine-covered mountain pass.

"PORTAL IS OPEN!" Elara screamed. "GO! NOW!"

Marcus didn’t wait. He shoved the first group of refugees through the green light. They vanished instantly into the mountain pass.

"Kyle! Yua!" Elara yelled, turning toward them. "Move!"

[Bloodlust Duration: 15 Seconds!] Snow warned. [Her core is at two percent!]

The red dome shattered. Yua’s red eyes flickered, the dark mist around her evaporating into thin air. She collapsed forward, her body completely spent.

Kyle caught her before she hit the cold stone, scooping her up into his arms. She was terrifyingly light, her skin icy cold.

"I’ve got you," Kyle gritted out.

He didn’t look back at Seraphina. He didn’t look at the guards recovering from the flash. He dug his boots into the frozen stone and sprinted with everything he had toward the archway.

Seraphina raised her staff one last time, her eyes burning with pure ice. "You step through that door, Elara, and you are no longer a daughter of House Vance."

Elara stopped at the edge of the portal. She looked at her mother, standing tall amidst the ruins of her pristine courtyard.

"I stopped being your daughter a long time ago, Mom," Elara said softly.

Kyle reached the arch, carrying Yua. Elara grabbed his hand, and together, they threw themselves backward into the swirling green light.

The world went white.

The sound of alarms, explosions, and mountain wind instantly vanished.

When Kyle opened his eyes, he was lying on his back in damp pine needles under a starry, natural night sky. The crisp air smelled of pine sap and dirt—real dirt, not scorched ash.

Around them, forty-seven refugees were weeping, hugging each other in the dark woods.

Beside him, Elara sat with her knees pulled to her chest, staring silently at the forest floor.

Kyle looked down at Yua in his arms. The blue interface floating beside her was fading away, her stats stabilizing into a slow, dormant sleep.

**[BOND LINK: INACTIVE]**

**Subject Status:** Unconscious / Blood Core Dormant (Requires Feed)

Kyle let out a long, shuddering breath, resting his head back against a mossy root.

In his chest, the amber crystal throbbed once—quiet, cold, and patient.
