Chapter 411: Clover Council (6)

The pine needles were damp beneath Kyle’s back, smelling of old sap and crushed earth. Above them, the stars were cold and sharp, completely unbothered by the chaos that had just unfolded in the Spire.

Around them, the forty-seven refugees collapsed into the underbrush, weeping quietly or huddled together in dazed silence. Marcus stood near a towering pine, his hands trembling as he rested his weight against a stolen guard spear, his eyes wide as he stared back at the dark ridge where the portal had snapped shut.

Kyle lay motionless, his chest heaving. The holographic blue interface tied to the auxiliary link was still flickering weak warnings beside Snow’s primary red alerts.

**[BOND LINK: CRITICAL STATUS]**

**Subject:** Yua Nua Akemi niru

**Race:** Pureblood Vampire (Suppressed)

**Status:** Blood Core Collapse Imminent (1%)

**Vitality:** 2/1000

[Kyle, her core is failing,] Snow’s voice chimed, ringing with a sharp, robotic urgency. [The Bloodlust phase burned through her primary essence. Without immediate vampire-compatible energy or direct vital fluid, her heart will stop in less than ninety seconds.]

Kyle looked down at Yua, cradled against his lap. Her skin was as cold as mountain ice, her dark hair tangled and soaked with sweat. Her lips were parted, exposing her prolonged, sharp fangs, but her eyes were closed, her breathing faint and ragged.

*Feed her,* the low, heavy voice resonated from the depths of his chest.

The amber crystal beneath his torn shirt flared with a deep, pulsing crimson light. The ancient root-deer entity, bound within the Intercept Seal, stirred like a beast waking in a shallow cave.

*You hold the power of the ancient root,* the entity purred into his mind, its voice echoing with the dry rustle of dead leaves. *Channel my essence into her. Tap the seal. I will flood her blood core with primordial life. She will wake, stronger than before... and she will belong to the dark root.*

[Do not engage!] Snow warned instantly, flashing red warning markers over Kyle’s field of vision. [The entity is attempting to leverage her blood collapse to expand its corruption! If you channel the root-deer’s energy, the seal containment will drop below zero percent. You will lose total control!]

"Shut up... both of you," Kyle gritted out, his teeth grinding together.

He looked at Yua’s pale face. He wasn’t going to let some dormant nightmare take over his body, and he wasn’t going to let Yua turn into a vessel for its energy.

*Sinful Demon Seed... Demon energy...* His own status window glinted in his mind. But she didn’t need seed or dark flames right now. She needed blood. Real, living blood filled with high-tier vitality.

[Kyle, your own vitality is dangerously depleted!] Snow yelled. [Giving her your blood while your core is fractured could trigger a systemic shutdown!]

"I have two hundred and sixty-three stamina and ten thousand XXX points," Kyle muttered, his voice hard. "I’m not dying here."

He pulled his right arm up, brought his wrist to his mouth, and bit down hard.

Blood—thick, dark, and rich with demonic essence—welled up immediately from his skin.

He leaned down, pressing his bleeding wrist against Yua’s parted lips. "Drink, Yua. Take it."

For a second, she didn’t move. Then, her instincts as a pureblood vampire took over. Her eyes snapped open—a brilliant, luminous crimson—and her fangs locked directly into the skin of his forearm.

Kyle gasped as a sharp, electric pain shot up his arm. It felt as though his very life force was being yanked through a straw.

**[ALERT: VITAL FLUID TRANSFUSION IN PROGRESS]**

**Target:** Yua Nua Akemi niru

**Absorbing:** Demonic Essence / High-Density Vitality

**Subject Status:** Blood Core Stabilizing (5%... 12%... 28%...)

The amber crystal in his chest throbbed angrily, the ancient entity letting out a low, disappointed hiss as it was forced back into the dark recesses of the seal. Kyle gritted his teeth, holding his ground as Yua drank greedily.

Color began to return to her cheeks. The ice-cold temperature of her skin melted into a warm, healthy flush. The crimson mist around her core settled, and her stats on the interface slowly returned to baseline numbers.

After nearly twenty seconds, Yua’s grip relaxed. She pulled her lips back from his wrist, a thin line of red running down her chin. Her eyes cleared, the feral bloodlust completely gone, replaced by deep shock as she looked at his bleeding arm, then up at his face.

"Kyle..." she whispered, her voice raspy. "Your blood... what did you..."

"You were dying," Kyle rasped, pulling his sleeve down over the puncture marks. He let out a long breath, opening his system shop with a quick thought.

*Shop: Stamina Regeneration. Cost: 20 XXX points.*

A warm surge of energy instantly washed through his limbs as twenty points vanished from his ten-thousand pool. His breathing evened out, the dizziness receding.

He offered a weak hand to Yua, pulling her up as she sat beside him in the pine needles. "We made it out. All of us."

Elara walked over from the edge of the clearing. She looked exhausted, her face smeared with ash, her clover-green trimmed cloak torn at the hem. She looked down at Kyle, then at Yua, before letting out a quiet, bitter sigh and sitting down on a fallen log.

"We made it out," Elara said quietly, looking back toward the misty ridge. "But there’s no going back now."

High above the mountain range, inside the white stone walls of the Clover Council Domain, the silence in the central courtyard was suffocating.

The fires at the east gate had been snuffed out by magic, leaving behind black smoldering ruins. The iron cage stood empty, its door hanging off its hinges. The white marble floor was cracked, scorched by the collision of holy fire and void black energy.

Grand Duchess Seraphina Vance stood in the center of the destruction, her midnight-blue dress untouched, though the staff in her right hand was trembling slightly.

Behind her, heavy bootsteps echoed against the stone floor.

Four figures approached her through the courtyard doors. They didn’t march like soldiers; they walked with the unhurried, terrifying weight of absolute authority.

The Clover Council had arrived.

At the lead was **High Chancellor Aethelgard**, an ancient man draped in heavy golden robes that dragged along the ground. His face was a map of deep wrinkles, his eyes completely white and blind, yet he walked with flawless precision. In his right hand, he carried the Scales of Judgment—a artifact that chimed with a low, ominous tone with every step he took.

To his left stood **Lady Vespera of House Shadow-Weave**, a tall, raven-haired woman wrapped in a high-collared dress made of shifting black silk. Her purple eyes scanned the scorched floor, a thin, amused smile playing on her dark lips.

To the right was **General Ignatius**, a massive warrior clad in brass plate armor that radiated extreme heat. His beard was braided with red iron, and a massive war-hammer hung strapped to his back, humming with volatile flame magic.

And lagging slightly behind was **Arch-Mage Oberon**, a young-looking man with silver hair and pale blue skin, holding a floating crystal orb that constantly calculated the residual mana in the air.

Four of the seven Rulers of the Clover Council.

"A mess, Seraphina," Lady Vespera said, her voice smooth like velvet as she stopped ten paces away. "A very loud, very expensive mess."

"We felt the dimensional rift from the eastern skyship," General Ignatius grunted, resting his massive hand on the pommel of his war-hammer. "High-tier shadow magic. Void essence. In *your* domain, Grand Duchess."

Arch-Mage Oberon raised his floating crystal orb, watching the numbers spin inside the glass. "Readings indicate a Class-5 Intercept Seal was present here. Along with a pureblood vampire core... and the signature of your own daughter, Seraphina."

Seraphina did not turn around immediately. She stood looking at the empty utility archway, her face completely carved of ice.

"The boy carried an ancient entity," Seraphina said, her voice carrying a cold, dead calm. "He was aided by the vampire and Elara."

"And you let them escape?" Chancellor Aethelgard spoke for the first time. His voice sounded like stone tablets grinding together. "With forty-seven corrupted unawakened? House Vance’s security has proven... severely lacking."

"They fled through the lower utility portal," Seraphina turned to face the four rulers, her golden eyes locking onto Aethelgard with unyielding sharpness. "To the neutral mountain pass. They are outside the barrier now."

"Then they are a threat to the entire realm," Ignatius growled, a plume of smoke rising from his brass shoulder plates. "If an anchor for a dimensional breach is roaming the neutral zones, the Council must deploy the Purge Squads."

"No," Chancellor Aethelgard raised his hand, stopping the general. The old man tilted his head toward the night sky, his blind eyes reflecting the stars. "A standard purge squad will not suffice. The boy absorbed a direct strike from Seraphina’s holy light and survived."

"He didn’t just survive," Vespera murmured, her purple eyes glinting with curiosity. "He forced the dark entity back down on his own. That requires extraordinary will... or something far more sinister."

Aethelgard set the base of his scales against the stone.

"Grand Duchess Seraphina," Aethelgard commanded. "Because this breach originated in your domain, and because your own bloodline facilitated their escape, House Vance is stripped of its Council voting rights until this matter is resolved."

Seraphina’s jaw tightened, but she did not object. "And the escapees?"

"They will be hunted," Aethelgard declared flatly. "Vespera, send your shadow-stalkers to track their path through the pine forest. Ignatius, lock down the borders of the lower sectors. If the boy’s crystal matures, we will erase that mountain range from the map."

Seraphina stood silent as the four council members turned back toward the main spire, their heavy robes sweeping over the ashes of her courtyard.

She looked up at the night sky, her fingers tightening around her staff until her knuckles turned white.

"Run fast, Elara," she whispered to the empty wind. "Because next time, I won’t be the one coming for you."

Down in the pine forest, miles away from the Spire, Kyle stood up from the mossy ground.

His internal system interface flickered, showing his status fully updated.

[Host: Kyle Conner]

[Level: 50]

[Race: F-rank Demon]

[Class: Abyssal Shadow Weaver]

[HP: 1000/1000]

[Demon Energy: 2500/2500]

[Shadow Energy: 1000/1000]

"We need to move," Kyle said, looking around at the refugees, Yua, and Elara. "The Council isn’t going to sit around. They know we made it through."

Elara stood up, blowing a stray strand of blonde hair from her face, her eyes filled with a fresh, cold determination. "There’s a hidden sanctuary three miles south—an old anti-Council hideout in the ravine. We move under the tree cover."

Kyle nodded, turning toward the south. Deep in his chest, the amber crystal gave one slow, quiet throb, but Kyle ignored it, stepping forward into the dark forest with his group following close behind.
