True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits

Chapter 236: Let’s make tonight count!

"Can you just stop lying!?"

Something inside Evelyn snapped and she screamed out loud. Her voice echoed through the corridor. For a moment, it felt like time itself had stopped.

Evelyn watched Vivienne’s eyes turn cold. Her body flinched, every instinct she had screamed at her to lower her head, to apologise, to leave before she made things worse, but Evelyn—

She ignored all of them.

"You like him."

She spoke honestly.

"You like having him as your student."

Vivienne narrowed her eyes. Evelyn didn’t care and continued.

"You like how hard he works, you like that he never complains, no matter what you put him through, you like that even after you break him again and again, he returns the next day and asks you to continue.

You like his determination.

You like that he is willing to give everything he has to become stronger.

You value him.

You are proud of him."

Evelyn’s voice shook. The more Vivienne stared at her, the scarier she became, but Evelyn did not stop. Instead, she clenched her fists and—

"So stop acting as though you do not care!"

The pressure around Vivienne changed.

It was not visible, but Evelyn felt it. She felt the air around her getting much, much heavier and that pressure nearly weakened her knees. She felt like she would collapse at any moment.

And how could she not feel that way?

The woman standing in front of her was the strongest being she had ever encountered or most likely would ever encounter.

A being who could end her existence before Evelyn even realised what had happened and no one in the entire world would be able to do anything about it.

But despite all that—

Evelyn stared back at Vivienne and—

"If your own pride prevents you from helping a student you actually care about...

...then are you truly as strong as you pretend to be?"

She gulped.

She didn’t even know where she got the confidence to say all this. What she did know was that this was the only moment she would be able to say it.

So she continued—

"You have enough power to do anything you want, yet you cannot even admit what you want. You hide behind that cold expression, pretending that no one matters.

But Lucian matters to you.

And right now, he needs help.

Please.

Help him."

Evelyn literally begged.

For the next few seconds, the corridor became dangerously quiet. Evelyn didn’t move an inch. She felt like even the tiniest movement would end her. She only kept staring at the woman in front of her, waiting for an answer.

That was when Vivienne spoke up.

"He will not die."

Her voice was dangerously quiet. Not being able to sleep was clearly doing something to her head.

"People usually do not die inside Aevrienne’s Trial."

"Usually?"

Evelyn raised her voice.

"You are willing to trust his life to a ’usually’?"

Vivienne remained silent at that.

Evelyn did not.

"You cannot feel what I feel."

Evelyn placed her hand on her chest.

"I can feel his energy. It has been draining for a long time. He is with a girl he cares a lot about. If he is using that much energy, that means he is pushing himself. The enemy he is facing must be someone ridiculously strong.

Please, Lady Vivienne—

I need your help.

Help me help him."

She requested as earnestly as she could, pouring her heart out.

"He is still fighting. Right now, while we are standing here arguing, he is still fighting.

So stop pretending this does not matter!"

She raised her voice again.

And Vivienne—

She stared at the singer, at her moist but dangerously determined eyes and she—

"Fine."

She closed her eyes.

"We will do it your way."

She spoke as she opened her eyes and stared at the girl again.

"How quickly can your men arrange the performance?"

"I had them make temporary arrangements before I came here. They should be done by now. We just need to go there. It will take about thirty minutes by car."

"We’ll get there in five."

Vivienne spoke.

"Huh? How are we—"

Before Evelyn could say anything, Vivienne grabbed her arm and picked her up.

Then—

The world around Evelyn blurred.

She quickly gave Vivienne the address and wisely closed her eyes, not wanting to fry her brain trying to understand whatever was happening. Within a few minutes—

"Is this the place?"

Evelyn heard a voice.

She opened her eyes and realised she was on top of the roof of a building that overlooked the venue she had told Vivienne about.

Her team had prepared everything below.

A small stage had been raised at one end of a wide public square. It was nothing grand, only a platform, several powerful speakers, standing microphones, basic lighting, and metal barricades to keep the crowd away from the equipment.

Security hired by Evelyn’s management stood near the stage, though they were nowhere near enough for what was about to happen.

Donation boxes were placed all around the square.

Large signs announced that the performance was a spontaneous charity concert, with all money collected going towards hospitals and children’s shelters.

Clearly, Evelyn had been planning this for days now. If the energy she gathered could help Lucian, she figured it would be best to hold as many concerts like these as she could.

And since she would need a legitimate reason for it, spontaneous charity concerts seemed like a great idea. She also believed that this would earn her some positive karma if she helped those in need. This way, her Lucian would be protected at all times.

Superstition?

Maybe.

But she wanted to do anything in her power to help Lucian in every possible way.

Her team had already started promoting the concert through her official accounts.

And people began arriving before Evelyn even came down from the roof. Those walking nearby stopped when they saw the stage. The moment they saw her name, phones came out, messages were sent, calls were made, and friends were told to hurry so they could stand near the stage.

Within minutes, hundreds became thousands.

Cars slowed down near the square, people left shops, restaurants, and offices, some abandoned taxis in traffic and continued on foot.

The surrounding roads became blocked before the authorities even understood what was happening.

Evelyn’s team began a live broadcast as well.

Millions joined almost immediately. That number continued rising every second.

Ten million.

Twenty million.

More.

It felt like the entire world was watching.

Not that it mattered to Evelyn. People behind screens did not generate the energy Evelyn needed, only those physically present here did.

Fortunately, there were more than enough of them.

The square filled, the streets around it filled as well, some people climbed onto walls, balconies, cars, and rooftops just so they could see her.

Soon, even the police arrived, trying to control the traffic and stop more people from entering the already crowded area.

There would be consequences later since there were no permits for the event. Evelyn’s name had brought about thirteen nearby roads to a standstill.

Well, that was something Evelyn’s team and the Enclave would deal with later.

For now, Evelyn stepped onto the stage and the instant she did, the people roared in excitement.

Evelyn began singing, then it happened—

Desire Energy came from the thousands of people gathered around her, only this time, the energy did not disappear—

Evelyn absorbed it all and then sent it all to Lucian.

And Evelyn—

"People!"

She called out after the first song.

"Let’s make tonight count!"

"YEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

"EVELYN!!"

"EVELYN!!"

"EVELYN!!"

The people roared and the Desire Energy Evelyn was gathering doubled.
