True Incubus: The Demon with No Limits
Chapter 253: W-Who is this monster!?’He saw that?’
Varek’s smile disappeared the very next instant. He moved another thread, attacking Lucian from below. Again, he avoided it.
He formed two more, attacking from behind. Again, he avoided them and Varek—
’What the hell...’
He shouldn’t even be able to see them, then how was he avoiding them?
Was it sound?
Air movement?
Or...
Were they pure instincts?
Varek attacked again, this time, three blood blades from the front and one thin needle from behind. Lucian blocked the blades with debris, then he turned slightly and raised a barrier behind himself.
The needle shattered on impact.
’Does he have eyes on his back?’
Varek wondered as he stared at him in disbelief. The worst thing about all of this was that big grin on the Demon’s face as he did all that.
That alone told Varek what he needed to know.
This wouldn’t be easy.
This... might even end in his defeat if he did not take this seriously.
So he did take this seriously.
He raised both his hands, his crimson eyes glowed strongly and suddenly, multiple blood spears, threads, blades, and needles formed on the battlefield.
Then, with a wave, everything attacked, all from different angles. Some of them were hidden behind Lucian’s own debris, others moved along the floor, keeping their visibility to a minimum. One even travelled through a crack in the wall, making it very, very difficult to trace in the middle of a chaotic battle.
Lucian moved.
Avoiding all the attacks.
His movements were nowhere near perfect. Some of the attacks came dangerously close, but nothing landed.
And at this moment, Varek’s irritation began turning into confusion.
’How?’
Lucian’s eyes were not following every attack. That wasn’t even possible. He was attacking from too many angles at the same time for him to keep up with everything using his eyes alone.
Then...
If he couldn’t see them...
How was he reacting to them...?
He couldn’t understand. Lucian, however, kept on grinning. He knew exactly what the Vampire was thinking.
Still Pulse.
That was what he was using to expand his senses to the maximum. He wasn’t seeing, he was hearing the attacks. It was one of the training methods Vivienne had forced upon him.
It didn’t work in an environment with too many variables. Open spaces with too many people interfered with his senses, but a Trial Corridor almost no other being other than those he accounted for could access?
Lucian’s senses worked at their fullest potential here.
Of course, Lucian did not explain any of that.
If it was Rhydan, he perhaps would have, but Varek?
He wanted to end the battle as soon as possible. The battle wasn’t exactly easy. Sure, his endless energy did give him an advantage, but Varek was still physically stronger than him and he had enough energy that he could keep up with Lucian for a while.
Not to mention Lucian did not exactly know how long Evelyn could keep singing.
She had already been at it for four hours, providing him with a constant flow of energy without a break, which, since he had worked with her for so long, he knew was too exhausting for any singer.
Lucian had to end it as soon as possible, so he disappeared.
Varek sensed him moving from above. Lucian moved away, Varek tried to chase him with spears, but then—
BAM
A large boulder slammed into him from behind, instantly breaking his rhythm. Unlike Lucian or Rhydan, who had scarily accurate awareness of their surroundings, Varek, who had stopped training and only focused on gathering energy through his victims’ suffering, had long forgotten what it was like to push through his limits and win through every little advantage he had.
In the eyes of warriors like Rhydan and Lucian—
He was weak.
And it was showing.
His battle senses were nowhere near the level his overall power had reached.
So when Lucian appeared right in front of him after he regained his balance, he widened his eyes in surprise. Lucian only grinned at him and—
He placed his palm on his chest.
BOOOOM
One-Inch Dominion.
Tons of energy were released through Lucian’s palm. Pain tore through Varek’s body, his sternum cracked, something inside him ruptured, blood sprayed from his mouth, and his body was sent flying again, crashing into the wall.
However, this time, before his body could fall to the ground, another boulder came from the front, slamming into him.
He was sandwiched between the wall and the boulder, the impact breaking more than a few bones.
When Varek actually fell, his regeneration began repairing the damage.
This time, he needed more time than before.
Just that—
Lucian did not give him that time.
The moment his broken body landed on the ground, the ground beneath him moved. Stones wrapped around his ankle. Varek, knowing this wouldn’t end well, forcefully tore himself free, preparing to move away.
But the instant he broke free from the stone around his feet, another layer caught his knee.
"AAGGHH!"
He shattered it with a punch.
But then—
A large rock struck his shoulder, cracking his bone.
"HAAAHH!!"
Varek roared and punched the boulder apart. The fragments became a cloud, dust entering his eyes as he glared at Lucian.
"Y-You cowardly bastard!!"
He screamed.
Lucian did not care. He simply attacked from the side. However, this time, what Lucian failed to notice was that he stepped on Varek’s blood when he attacked.
That gave away his location.
The worst part?
He had no idea.
Varek remained silent as well.
Then, when Lucian punched—
The Vampire finally caught his fist.
"Got you."
A wide grin appeared on Varek’s face.
Just that—
If Varek’s eyes were open, he would have known.
That Lucian was smiling as well.
Three barriers formed behind Lucian’s elbow, then they pushed.
One-Inch Dominion.
BOOOOOOM
The force blasted into Varek’s hand, forcefully opening his fingers as his arm shattered. Lucian freed himself, his knife flew into his hand, and he tried to pierce Varek’s throat and end the battle.
The Vampire’s instincts flared at the last moment. He forced his eyes open, saw the blade, and raised his arm to stop it.
Lucian changed the angle mid-strike using Telekinesis, in a way so unnatural that a clearly out-of-practice man like Varek couldn’t possibly predict his attack.
Slice
The knife sliced through Varek’s chest, leaving a deep wound. Varek stepped back. Lucian did not. He attacked again.
This time, Varek blocked.
But he did not see the stone that struck the back of his knee. His balance broke, Lucian used the moment to punch his jaw.
One-Inch Dominion was used again.
The sheer force shattered Varek’s jaw, his head snapping sideways so forcefully that a loud crack was heard.
If a normal Human’s head moved like that, he would have died that very instant.
Varek, however, was a Vampire.
To some, he was already dead.
His healing kicked in again. Lucian did not care. He continued pressing. Varek snapped and ran back. Lucian couldn’t catch up, yet he continued following, not letting him go.
At the same time, debris moved, attacking Varek from all directions.
Varek’s instincts flared.
Death.
He could feel it.
So his body started moving. He dodged all the incoming attacks, jumping through boulders, closing his eyes anytime he sensed the dust around him. Some attacks still moved past his defences.
Striking his back, shoulders, the back of his legs, hands, anywhere, anything that would make him lose his balance long enough for Lucian to catch up.
Varek continued stumbling through.
Rather than a battle, it seemed more like a dog chase, where Lucian was chasing a beaten dog while the dog desperately tried to survive.
Soon, Varek’s flaring instincts began to give in.
This was not a trained reaction. His instincts only flared at the last moment. It was like a body’s last attempt to keep him alive. It was not permanent.
And now...
It was going away.
Varek felt his vision becoming blurry.
Lucian continued following him and he—
’W-Who is this monster!?’
He could not believe what was happening.
He thought he only needed to be careful of Rhydan and Silvian—
Where did this monster come from!?
Who was he!?
Why hadn’t he ever heard about him before!?
If someone was THIS strong when they were less than one hundred and fifty years old, the supernatural world should have known about him!
His face should have been well known!
How was this the first time he was ever seeing him!?
Which Demon had taken over his body!?
And how much energy did this bastard have!?
"AAAAGGGHHHH!!!"
Varek screamed.
In his last desperate attempt, he formed five more blood spears and threw them at Lucian. Lucian formed barriers.
He blocked four, but one spear was deflected.
Something Lucian usually wouldn’t care about, but the spear was deflected towards Naomi, so he stopped, formed more barriers to stop the spear, protecting Naomi.
And the instant Varek saw that—
’Did he just...?’
Something in his eyes changed.
