Boom!
By the time the Minotaur had completely blocked the purple sword light, Grey’s final slash had already cut deeply through its body.
The brilliant purple light disappeared, revealing the enormous figure of the Minotaur. Before Grey could make another move, the beast let out a furious roar and swung both of its massive arms toward him and the purple phantom.
The phantom was struck by the Minotaur’s enormous arm and sent flying backward like a rag doll. Grey, however, reacted much faster. He bent his body down, narrowly avoiding the massive bloody axe that whizzed past his face.
The force behind the swing caused the air around him to tremble.
Grey used the momentum of his movement to somersault backward. While still in midair, his fingers flicked forward, sending his dagger flying toward the Minotaur one final time.
Ptui!
The dagger shot through the air like a blur and embedded itself deeply into the side of the Minotaur.
The moment the blade sank into its flesh, blood and other putrid substances gushed from the wound.
Yellow, foul-smelling pus mixed with writhing maggots splattered in all directions before raining onto the ground. Some of the Minotaur’s blood and internal fluids even splashed across Grey’s face.
Yet Grey’s expression did not change in the slightest.
If anything, his eyes became even sharper.
The Minotaur finally adjusted its posture and raised its massive body, preparing to charge toward him once more. But by then, Grey had already retreated several feet.
A purple blur flashed beside him.
The purple phantom appeared at his side, its humanoid figure standing silently as it faced the enormous beast.
From beginning to end, everything had happened within the span of only five breaths.
Five breaths.
That was all the time Grey had needed to exchange blows with a Minotaur whose strength was comparable to an expert at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm.
And despite all his attacks, the damage he had inflicted appeared minimal.
But instead of feeling discouraged, Grey licked the blood from the corner of his lips and revealed a faint, almost wicked smile.
Suddenly, the Minotaur, which had been preparing to charge, froze.
Its enormous body trembled.
An expression of intense agony appeared on its monstrous face.
Grey’s smile widened.
The wounds created by his dagger were no longer bleeding ordinary blood.
Black blood was slowly leaking from them.
Poison.
Grey had coated his dagger with poison before the battle had even begun.
The poison had already entered the Minotaur’s body.
Looking at the creature’s pained expression, a thought surfaced in Grey’s mind.
If I can’t defeat you through overwhelming strength, then I’ll suppress you through methods you can’t defend against.
The instant the thought appeared, Grey shouted.
"Shadow!"
As soon as his voice fell, the shadow beneath Grey’s feet suddenly detached itself from his body.
It twisted violently before transforming into a bizarre, pitch-black tree.
Countless leafless branches stretched outward, resembling the limbs of a monstrous tree that had crawled out from the depths of darkness.
The branches shot toward the Minotaur.
The creature had just regained its senses and immediately attempted to dodge.
However, the shadow was simply too fast.
The Minotaur raised its bloody axe in an attempt to block the incoming attack.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several black branches struck the axe simultaneously.
The enormous force caused the handle of the bloody weapon to crack.
Crack!
The handle shattered completely, splitting into two pieces.
Before the Minotaur could react, the countless leafless branches continued forward.
Puchi! Puchi! Puchi!
One branch after another pierced through its body.
A deafening roar erupted from the Minotaur’s mouth.
"ROAAAAR!"
Its muscles bulged as it struggled violently, attempting to break free from the shadow’s restraints.
But the shadow did not give it the opportunity.
More and more branches emerged from the strange black tree, wrapping around the Minotaur’s enormous body and piercing deeply into its flesh.
And with every branch that pierced its body, the poison within the Minotaur grew increasingly concentrated.
The mutated creature’s body had always contained a large amount of corrosive substance.
After all, mutated creatures and strange abominations were by-products of God’s blinding radiance striking the land and corrupting the bodies of living beings.
Their existence was fundamentally connected to the corrosive substance.
However, that did not mean they were immune to it.
They could resist a certain amount of corrosive substance, but there was a limit.
If too much corrosive substance accumulated within their bodies, even they would eventually perish.
They would mutate beyond the point their bodies could withstand.
They would collapse.
They would explode into flesh and blood.
And right now, that was exactly what was happening to the Minotaur.
Grey’s poison had only been the beginning.
If he had simply released the poison into the air, it would have taken far too long for it to affect such a powerful creature. That was why he had coated his dagger with it beforehand.
By stabbing the Minotaur directly, he had ensured that the poison would enter its body almost immediately.
But even then, Grey knew that his poison alone was not enough to guarantee the Minotaur’s death.
That was why he had prepared the shadow as his final strike.
While the Minotaur was still suffering from the effects of the poison, Grey would have the shadow forcibly inject an enormous amount of corrosive substance into its body.
Over the years, the corrosive substance that the shadow had absorbed from Grey’s body had accumulated to an astonishing level.
It had reached a critical point.
The amount was so dense that if it were released directly into another living being, the target would have a very high chance of dying from the resulting mutation almost instantly.
Grey had calculated all of these factors before the battle even began.
The poison would weaken the Minotaur.
The shadow would pierce its body.
And the corrosive substance within the shadow would be released directly into its flesh.
Everything was connected.
Just as Grey had expected, the Minotaur’s enormous body suddenly began to swell.
Its muscles twisted unnaturally.
The veins beneath its skin bulged outward.
Its skin slowly turned greenish-black.
The Minotaur roared desperately as it struggled against the countless branches wrapped around its body.
It violently tore several branches apart with its hands.
But before it could escape, more branches emerged from the shadow tree and pierced into its body.
There were simply too many.
Without its bloody axe, the Minotaur had no way to destroy all of them at once.
The corrosive substance continued pouring into its body.
Its movements gradually became more frantic.
Its massive chest expanded and contracted violently.
Blood and mucus began leaking from the countless cracks that appeared across its skin.
Its eyes widened.
For the first time, genuine fear appeared within them.
The Minotaur seemed to realize what was about to happen.
But it was already too late.
Grey stood several meters away, calmly watching the enormous creature’s final struggle.
The purple phantom stood beside him.
The shadow continued to pierce the Minotaur.
And then—
Bang!
The Minotaur’s enormous body exploded.
Putrid blood erupted in every direction, accompanied by chunks of flesh, shattered bones, and grotesque internal organs.
The ground was instantly stained with the Minotaur’s remains.
Its internal organs had been completely eviscerated by the violent mutation.
There was no longer anything resembling a living creature left.
The Minotaur was dead.
