"Don’t stay out too long...!" Jenny advised.

"Got it!"

Adam shot back as he rushed out of the house, putting on his brown leather jacket. A few hours after his spar with his father, Adam stepped out to rendezvous with his friends.

From the many texts he had received from his friends, he knew they were dying to know what affinity he had awakened, and Adam was more than ready to show off... or at least, moderately.

He rushed down the street with confident strides, turning a few heads wherever he passed.

"Looks like someone has finally awakened..."

A stranger remarked as Adam walked past, shaking his head, a hint of nostalgia flickering in his eyes.

"Hah... Good old times."

Unfortunately for the stranger, Adam was already out of earshot, too excited to mind whatever people said about him. Several minutes later, Adam arrived at the chosen location — the gym.

Adam’s friends did not live in the same community as he did, since their community was reserved for agency and federation workers. But that did not stop them from being friends, as they had all attended the same basic school.

Inside the vast and spacious gym were people dedicated to building their physique and training various martial arts. Unlike the gyms of the old civilization, modern gyms were built to cater for the needs of the awakener.

The gym had multiple floors. The ground floors bore most of the weight equipment, while the upper floors housed the measuring equipment and martial arts training.

Adam arrived on the second floor and quickly spotted his friends around the seating area. He rushed over, and when they noticed him, they broke into knowing smiles.

"The man of the hour has finally arrived, people." Henry Thorne, a boy with short red hair and eyes, declared with a smile. "What took you so long?"

Adam exchanged a hand hug with him, their grip firm and strong.

"Hehe, I can feel the power!" Henry mirrored Adam’s wide grin. "The boy is finally a man!"

"Wipe that grin off your face," Declan Freyes snorted as he too approached Adam for a hand hug. He had black hair like Adam, but his eyes were a dark hazel. "You stand before your seniors."

"I wouldn’t be so sure about that," Adam shot back confidently, holding Declan’s gaze.

"Oo... Someone’s confident." Declan chuckled as he glanced at Henry, who shrugged.

"We’ll see about that," Henry replied smugly, understanding what Declan’s gaze meant.

"I hope you didn’t become a muscle-brain like these two," Valric Jensen, a glasses-wearing, blue-haired and blue-eyed boy, chipped in as he too clasped Adam’s hand in a firm grip. "That would leave me as the only sensible person in this group."

"Hehe. Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m also a muscle-brain." Adam replied with a grin.

"Tsk. What a letdown." Valric did indeed look disappointed.

"Really?" Henry’s eyes lit up hearing that response. "You awakened something related to physical augmentation?"

"Something like that," Adam said and added with a proud smile. "Technically, I awakened two affinities."

"Two affinities!"

Several heads turned in their direction as their shocked exclamations drew attention. A few mirrored the expressions of the shocked friends, envy flashing in their eyes. Dual affinities were almost a guarantee that a person had a high talent, hence their surprise.

Just because everyone awakened did not mean they all had the same rate of evolution. Some people had found themselves stuck at the first realm for many years without seeing any improvement.

As for dual affinity holders, almost every known one was a famous awakener.

"Wow... It’s like looking at a celebrity," Declan muttered, staring at Adam like he was some rare specimen.

"So that’s why you can’t stop grinning like an idiot," Valric noted as he pushed his glasses up. "But what exactly are your affinities?"

The three friends stared at Adam intently, waiting for his reply.

Adam’s grin didn’t falter. He deliberately held back to build anticipation in his friends, and it worked.

"Will you spit it out already?" Declan demanded impatiently, wanting nothing more than to wipe that grin off Adam’s stupid face. "You’re a dual affinity holder; big deal."

"Hehe," Adam chuckled as he gave in, his gaze drifting to Henry. "My first affinity is a physical one, and I mean, pure physical strength."

Henry swallowed hard, understanding what Adam meant. As someone with a Blood Manipulation affinity, he understood the advantages of physical strength the most. Within the same realm, there was almost no one who could withstand a blow from them.

He could boost his physical prowess using his Blood Manipulation abilities, but that was nothing compared to someone who wielded raw, physical power. In most cases, too, their speed was faster than average.

"And the second one?" Valric asked, more interested in the second affinity.

"My second affinity will remain a secret for now." Adam’s reply left them momentarily confused.

"A secret?" Declan tilted his head.

"Mhm. Telling you guys right now won’t make a difference." Adam said vaguely. He knew his words made little sense, but it could not be helped. As of now, he had little understanding of any elemental abilities, so there was nothing to show.

"Oh, I see what you’re doing," Henry stated with a smirk. "You’re planning on showing it off at the academy, aren’t you?"

"Hehe, you know me so well," Adam jumped on the wild guess, chuckling softly. "You’ll be so shocked, you guys won’t know what hit you."

"Tsk, tsk. The fucker is really enjoying this." Declan grumbled, giving Adam a once-over. "Do you think Henry and I can’t kick your ass simply because you awakened a physical affinity?"

"Well, we’re already here." Valric proposed calmly, looking at his three, muscle-brained friends. "Why don’t you put that to the test?"

"Oh, it’s on," Henry smirked as he stepped forward, intending to be the first to put Adam in his place. "You might be physically stronger, but you won’t beat me in technique."

"You wanna bet?" Adam grinned viciously.

"Oh, yeah..." Henry voiced his agreement. "That cocky attitude of yours will be in tatters by the time I’m done with you."

"We’ll see about that..."
