The registered name for Yang Hui and Yang Na’s company: Yanghe Trading Co., Ltd.
His hometown, Xiahe Village, had a river flowing through it called the Yanghe. Most of the villagers shared the surname Yang.
A light pink chiffon shirt paired with split, wide-leg suit pants.
Today, Yang Na looked both beautiful and incredibly cool.
"Come on, I’ll show you the office and the warehouse."
She had chosen a spot in an industrial park in the Economic Development Zone. The area was mostly home to apparel and footwear companies.
"The office is 200 square meters and the warehouse is 500. Combined, the rent is 12,000 yuan a month. A bit steep, don’t you think?"
It was much cheaper than a regular office building, but for a remote industrial park, the price wasn’t low. This was mainly because the space she needed was small and had been partitioned off from a larger unit.
Yang Hui wasn’t bothered by any of it. He just had to hold on for a little while. As long as he could successfully leave Futong Commerce, he would receive at least 30 million a month in unemployment benefits.
’Once I’m rich, what kind of office won’t I be able to afford?’
Besides, this place was more than enough to meet their short-term needs.
"No problem. I’ll call the landlord over to sign the lease, then?"
Yang Na was fully invested in the new company. This was a venture for the two of them, Yang Hui and her, and it meant the world to her.
The landlord, Aunt Zheng, was not yet fifty and dressed so stylishly you could pass her off as forty.
Yang Na introduced Yang Hui as her boss. Aunt Zheng’s eyes lit up. "Xiaoyang," she asked, "do you have a girlfriend?"
Yang Hui was taken aback for a second. ’We’re here to talk business, why are you asking if I have a girlfriend?’
"He has high standards," Yang Na chimed in from the side. "You could say he’s waiting for the highest bidder."
It sounded partly like a jab at him and partly like an answer for Aunt Zheng.
Aunt Zheng smiled like a crafty old fox, her eyes narrowing into slits.
"Ah, Xiaoyang, you’ll be hiring, won’t you?"
It was unclear whether she was addressing Xiaoyang as in Yang Na or Xiaoyang as in Yang Hui, but Yang Na jumped in to answer anyway. "Of course we’re hiring."
"My daughter is graduating from Modu University of Finance and Economics this year. I’ll send her information over for you to look at. She’s dead set on staying in Shanghai, but she’s my only daughter, and I really want her to come back home!"
Yang Hui and Yang Na didn’t really care. As long as the person was a good fit, it didn’t matter who they hired.
As Yang Na signed the contract with Aunt Zheng, Yang Hui saw the landlord’s full name for the first time: Zheng Yu.
"Yang Hui, Mr. Xiao Yang, I live just a kilometer from here in the Yunhe Bay villa community. You should come over for dinner sometime!"
He rubbed his chin and offered a few polite platitudes. This Aunt Zheng was practically broadcasting her designs on him; she wasn’t hiding it in the slightest.
"That Aunt Zheng was looking at you like a mother-in-law sizing up her future son-in-law. She’s not just renting you a place; she’s trying to throw in her daughter as part of the deal."
Once they were alone, Yang Na said this to him with a meaningful look.
"And what about you?" he retorted. "You not only showed up, you threw in 200,000."
"Hmph! That was an investment. I’m in it for the money!"
"Don’t move. There’s a mosquito."
Yang Na was standing by the windowsill with Yang Hui behind her. Before she could react, she heard a sharp SLAP, and a stinging sensation flared up on her butt.
In this weather, the fabric of her pants was already thin, and to complete the look, she had worn a thong underneath.
To Yang Hui, that slap felt almost like skin-on-skin—so soft and springy.
Blushing furiously, Yang Na spun around to face him. He held out his palm as if presenting a trophy. "See? If I hadn’t acted fast, you’d have a swollen, bitten butt."
Annoyed, she retorted, "It might not be swollen from a bite, but it probably is from your slap."
"No way. Let me see."
Without another word, he gripped her shoulders and turned her around so her back was to him. "Bend over!"
He pressed down on her upper body, forcing her to bend at the waist and presenting her rear.
It was like two basketballs were packed in there. He reached out and felt both sides. "Perfectly symmetrical. Not swollen."
The whole sequence happened so fast that Yang Na couldn’t react. Her mind went completely blank, as if it had crashed.
Then she felt a searing heat on her plump buttocks as a mischievous hand slid over them. She heard a sharp intake of breath, and a blush spread across her face like a drop of crimson dye in water.
"You’ve been planning this for a while, haven’t you?"
"No, I was really just trying to kill the mosquito!"
Yang Na scoffed. "Back at Ruijing, I caught you staring at my ass at least ten times! I’m just curious, why didn’t you make your move then?"
"You were my subordinate. It wouldn’t have been right."
"Ohhh," she drew out the sound. "But now we’re partners, so you can finally make your move? No more psychological barriers?"
"Let’s drop it. I was clearly helping you with a mosquito, and you’re treating me like the bad guy. Talk about not appreciating a kind heart."
He turned and started examining the office layout.
’The flooring and everything in this office area is new. We’ll just need to install some glass partitions and buy some desks and chairs, then it’ll be ready to use.’
"Yang Na, we’ve been assigned the location for the first store in Xinyue Square. We don’t even have to handle the site survey and measurements. However, we do need to coordinate with the NLB brand to get the blueprints and find a construction crew. You’re going to be busy.
Once our official company seal is processed, we can sign with NLB and finalize the contract with the Xinyue Square store at the same time. Let’s aim to have the store open in June."
"Right. And once the company is registered, hiring will become an urgent priority."
As Yang Hui headed downstairs toward the warehouse, he added, "We need the business license before we can hire corporate staff, but not for store employees. We can start recruiting for the shop now. I’m going to the Xinyue Group regional office this afternoon to ask for their help using the mall’s recruitment platform."
When they reached the warehouse, they unexpectedly ran into Aunt Zheng again. It turned out she owned several office buildings in the industrial park; her family was clearly on another level.
"Ah, Mr. Xiao Yang! I’ll have my daughter add you on WeChat tonight. You two can chat for a bit first. You know, build a rapport before you meet in person."
’Since when does an interview require building a rapport?’
Yang Na stifled a laugh. "Aunt Zheng, you can just contact me for the interview. Our President Yang has a lot of outside business to handle; he’s a very busy man!"
"It’s no trouble, no trouble at all."
"Mr. Xiao Yang, where is your hometown? What do your parents do for a living?"
She followed Yang Hui all the way to the warehouse, so he couldn’t very well ignore her. He had no choice but to answer, "My hometown is Xiahe Village in Yuqing County. It’s very remote. My parents are farmers."
’That should do it,’ he thought. ’Now Aunt Zheng will surely keep her distance.’
"That doesn’t matter at all," she said. "As long as you’re a good person. Money and possessions are just worldly things."
He was surprised; he hadn’t expected her to have such a broad-minded perspective.
"She’s my only daughter. For her dowry, I’m planning to give her a villa and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class."
Yang Na couldn’t help but smile, pressing her lips together. She shot Yang Hui a look that clearly said, ’See? What a great offer.’
Yang Hui was completely flustered by Aunt Zheng’s enthusiasm. ’Is it really appropriate,’ he thought, ’to be discussing your daughter’s dowry the first time we meet?’
He glanced at Aunt Zheng. At fifty, she was still quite charming; she must have been a real beauty in her youth. ’Just how ugly could her daughter be,’ he wondered, ’that she’s this desperate to marry her off, even offering a villa and a luxury car as part of the deal?’
