Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?
Chapter 58: A Sheep in the Tiger’s Den?After inspecting the warehouse, the landlady enthusiastically invited the two of them to her home for dinner.
Yang Hui and Yang Na had to decline several times before they could finally get away. Sitting in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, beads of sweat dotted their foreheads.
"I really can’t imagine what Aunt Zheng’s daughter must be like for her to be in such a hurry."
He shook his head. "So it’s true, even a princess can have trouble finding a husband!"
Yang Na continued to tease him. Like Yang Hui, she assumed Aunt Zheng’s daughter must be ugly. ’Otherwise,’ she thought, ’why would her mom be in such a panic? Nowadays, any girl can find guys to chase after her.’
’She didn’t even mind that he was from a small village, and she was even offering a villa and a car.’
’The crucial part was that she knew nothing about Yang Hui. Was it just because he was a young entrepreneur? Or his good looks? Or had she perhaps fallen for his charming eyes?’
BUZZ~
His phone buzzed with a notification.
A friend request popped up:
Nickname: Sheep Entering a Tiger’s Mouth
Note: The landlady’s daughter
’Sheep Entering a Tiger’s Mouth?’
Yang Na glanced over. "Wait, is that ’sheep’ or your surname, Yang?"
’This name was clearly a calculated move.’
Yang Hui accepted the request, then tossed his phone aside, putting the matter out of his mind. "Let’s go find a place to eat."
He had to get to Xinyue Group this afternoon; he couldn’t waste too much time here.
「Meanwhile, in a coffee shop in Shanghai.」
Two young women, each carrying a classic Louis Vuitton bag, sat together chatting about fashion.
One of them suddenly sighed. The girl across from her immediately asked, "Hu Mei, what’s with the sigh? Are those guys getting on your nerves again?"
Hu Mei was, without a doubt, the most popular girl at the Modu University of Finance and Economics. Rumor had it that the number of guys pursuing her was enough to form a reinforced army regiment.
’In her opinion, even a regiment was an underestimate; they were way over-strength by now.’
’She was fair-skinned, gorgeous, with legs for days, and most importantly, her family was loaded. How many people have you seen drive a Porsche 911 to class?’
’Well, that was Hu Mei. And to make parking easier, her family had even bought her a 270-square-meter apartment near campus. They’d justified it by saying that high-end Shanghai real estate was a sure thing—a sound fixed asset investment.’
"They’re annoying, but not as annoying as my mom."
Hu Mei rested a hand on her forehead. ’There’s just no shaking her.’
Yao Yu laughed. "Is your mom making you go home for another blind date?"
Yao Yu was Hu Mei’s roommate and best friend, so she knew exactly how terrifying Hu Mei’s mother could be.
Hu Mei wasn’t even out of college, but her mom was already busy arranging blind dates for her every single day, as if terrified her daughter would end up an old maid.
"No. She made me change my WeChat nickname and add some guy. She’s really worn me down."
"She even threatened to go on a hunger strike if I didn’t do it!"
Yao Yu burst out laughing. "That sounds just like your mom."
"My mom is so ridiculous... Forget it, I can’t win against her. I’ll just change my nickname."
Yao Yu leaned in to watch as she changed her nickname to "Sheep Entering a Tiger’s Mouth."
She was stunned. "Is there some hidden meaning behind that name?"
"My mom said the guy’s surname is Yang and mine is Hu. The name is supposed to be a pun, meaning he can’t escape me."
Hu Mei ran her hands through her hair in frustration. "She actually came up with that. Just how scared can she be that I’ll never get married?"
Yao Yu’s mouth fell open. "Oh, is *that* what it means? I was way off, then."
Hu Mei looked up at her, her clear eyes—untouched by worldly affairs—shining like honey-soaked amber. "How did you read it?"
"As ’Yang’ going into ’Hu’s mouth’!"
"I was wondering why your mom was being so dirty."
A blush crept up to Hu Mei’s eyes. "What are you talking about?! Watch it, or I’ll shut that mouth of yours!"
"You can shut my mouth, but what if that guy surnamed Yang thinks the same thing?"
"SIGH..." With a mother like this, her reputation was going to be ruined.
"Come on, let’s go to the gym."
"You’re still going? Look at you—you’re stacked and have a perfect ass. Do you really need the gym? Give the rest of us girls a break!"
"I’m just so frustrated. I need to go for a run, numb myself a bit."
"My mom wants me to go back home and get a job at that Yang guy’s company. She quoted the old ’the pavilion nearest the water sees the moon first’ proverb. It’s absolutely insane."
Yao Yu couldn’t figure it out either. Why on earth did Aunt Zheng think Hu Mei would have trouble getting married?
"So, will you?"
"What do you think? Would I have any peace if I went back? Now *that* would be the real ’sheep entering a tiger’s mouth.’ I need to find a job here in Shanghai, and fast, to make my mom give up on this crazy idea for good."
「In a small restaurant in Qingzhou.」
The two had ordered a few simple dishes when Yang Na suddenly asked, "What’s the landlady’s daughter’s last name?"
Yang Hui checked the message he’d received. "Hu Mei."
Yang Na’s jaw dropped. "’Yang’ into ’Hu’s mouth?’ Wow, she plays rough, huh?"
"Shut up, you! Or it’ll be ’Yang’ into ’Yang’s mouth’!"
He regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth. Yang Na’s cheeks instantly flushed crimson, like a new peach blossom kissed by the dawn. Her eyelashes fluttered downward and she averted her gaze, whispering, "You’re such a pervert... You want me to..."
"Eat! Eat your food! I just meant I wanted to shut you up!"
He realized after he spoke that her face had turned an even deeper shade of red, and the air between them seemed to crackle with heat.
She pressed her lips together, the tips of her ears so red they were almost translucent, like thin slivers of coral. "You creep!"
Now there was no explaining his way out of it. He spent the rest of the meal on pins and needles, terrified he’d let slip another outrageous, world-shaking comment.
He drove Yang Na to the Ruijing Commerce building, then headed directly for the Xinyue Group regional office.
The Xinyue Group regional branch was located in an office building right next to Xinyue Square.
Together with the Xinyue Hotel and Xinyue Square, it formed a massive commercial complex.
He had just parked his car when he got a message from Dan Biao, who was already waiting at the entrance to the Xinyue Group regional office.
He glanced at the time. ’Only 2:50 PM. He sure is eager.’
After meeting up with Dan Biao, Yang Hui followed him inside. On the way, Dan Biao said, "The difference between our company and your last one is our platform. It’s much bigger, which means we get to connect with high-level people."
"At your old company, Ruijing Commerce, if you wanted to make an appointment with Manager Cheng, you probably couldn’t even get one, right? I bet you were always palmed off on some lower-level supervisor."
Yang Hui looked at him, unsure how to respond.
’In the past, whenever Yang Hui came to the regional office, he always went to see President Tian directly. In fact, if Manager Cheng knew he was coming, she’d clear her entire schedule for him. She even liked to take him to her small, secluded office.’
Seeing Yang Hui’s silence, Dan Biao assumed he’d hit the nail on the head and continued, "That’s the value of a big company, a major platform like ours."
When they reached the front desk, Dan Biao announced, "Hello, I’m Dan from Futong Commerce. I have an appointment with your Manager Cheng."
After making a call to confirm, the receptionist said to them, "Please follow me."
"Please have a seat here for a moment, gentlemen. Manager Cheng is with a client right now, but she’ll be over as soon as she’s finished." She then handed them two bottles of water.
"A Hui, I’m showing you the ropes today, but in the future, you’ll be coming on your own. Don’t be intimidated. No matter how high up they are, they’re still just people. Just be confident, but respectful."
