Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Orders from Above

’He can communicate across several World Groups with just a single Memory Crystal Stone... Is the Red Sun Great Wizard really that powerful?’

Andre stared at the powder that had settled at his feet, his eyes filled with apprehension.

’Artifacts rich with history... the Second Expeditionary Corps is accelerating its advance... could there be a connection?’

As Andre pondered this, his expression darkened.

The answer was obvious: the kingdoms established by the various branches of the Multi-Body Race.

Only these kingdoms had passed down ancestral artifacts from one generation to the next.

’So he’s forcing me to go to war with this Otherworld. He doesn’t want me to have it too easy... but why?’

’After Grandmaster breaks through, shouldn’t he be focused on stabilizing his new Realm?!

’Why would he suddenly need artifacts rich with history? Could his Realm be unstable? Does he need these things to stabilize it?’

’I’ve read about Potions and Witchcraft Artifacts that can stabilize a Realm, but can artifacts rich with history do the same?’

Andre mulled over the question with a grim expression.

But Klein wasn’t here, so there was no way to ask. He could only do as he was told.

Andre began to recall the kingdoms he had previously scouted.

To attack those kingdoms meant he would have to face the powerhouses within them.

He was still a Level 1 Wizard. Although he could soon break through to become a Level 2 Wizard, he was still an entire Level below the Level 3 Wizard powerhouses!

Andre wasn’t sure if he could defeat a powerhouse from a world that lacked a complete system for Power.

After all, fighting someone of a higher Level was a rare occurrence in the world of Wizards.

’I should discuss this with the others first.’

After much deliberation, Andre summoned Rote, Karina, Jessica, Piedra, and Sander.

"What happened?" Jessica asked, looking at Andre in confusion.

She had just been planning with Rote how to use their new batch of Potions.

"We need to prepare," Andre said with a sigh.

"Prepare for what?" Sander asked, not quite understanding what Andre meant.

"To pick a kingdom and destroy it!"

The moment Andre finished speaking, voices of protest arose.

"What? Isn’t this too sudden?"

Karina’s eyes widened as she stared at Andre in disbelief.

"Didn’t you see the Crystal Stone?" Andre retorted, seeing her reaction.

"I didn’t," Karina said, shaking her head.

"My Grandmaster has broken through and become the Red Sun Great Wizard. He wants me to collect artifacts from this Otherworld that are rich with history."

"And where in this world are such artifacts primarily found?"

Andre paused. He didn’t need to say more.

Piedra, Sander, Rote, and Jessica all knew perfectly well: in the kingdoms of the Multi-Body Race.

"That’s your Grandmaster’s business. Why should we be the ones to do it?"

Jessica was the first to object. She had no desire to get injured attacking a Multi-Body Race Kingdom.

"The Second Expeditionary Corps has received an urgent order from the institute to accelerate their advance."

"They’ll arrive in this world in three years. Now, who do you think issued that urgent command?"

Andre gave Jessica a sidelong glance. Her eyes darted around; she opened her mouth to speak, then quickly clamped a hand over it.

Andre had made his point. At the Main Institute, the only person besides the Dean who could directly interfere with the affairs of an Expeditionary Corps was Andre’s Grandmaster, Klein, the new Red Sun Great Wizard.

"But even if we attack a Multi-Body Race Kingdom, can just the few of us actually win?"

Rote said to Andre, "I seem to recall this world has quite a few powerhouses at the Level 3 Wizard Level."

"We don’t have to go to war with the kingdoms that have Level 3 Powerhouses. We can attack smaller tribes or kingdoms."

"With our combined Power, taking down smaller tribes and kingdoms like that won’t be a problem."

After Andre finished, Rote and the others nodded, but a look of reluctance appeared in their eyes.

But no one voiced their reluctance aloud.

After all, this was a direct order from a Red Sun Great Wizard. Who would dare to disobey?

"How much longer do you need?"

Andre looked at Rote. Right now, Rote and he were the ones most likely to become Level 2 Wizards.

"I’ll need at least another five or six years."

Rote closed his eyes to sense his Ladder of Truth before giving a vague timeframe.

"What needs five or six years?" Karina asked, confused by the exchange between Rote and Andre.

"The time it will take for me to break through to Level 2 Wizard," Rote explained.

"If we didn’t have to speed things up, we could take our time."

"But now our timeline has been shortened. To increase our strength, I’ll be the one to break through and become a Level 2 Wizard," Andre declared after a moment of thought.

"How long has it been since your last breakthrough?"

Rote sounded worried.

"I’ve been a Level 1 Wizard for about twenty-five years now. The Magic Power in my body, and my perception and comprehension of the Truth, are all close to the breaking point."

When Andre finished, Rote’s jaw dropped.

"You’ve been a Level 1 Wizard for twenty-five years?"

Rote stared at Andre in disbelief.

"The expedition was scheduled to begin ten years after I entered the institute. I broke through to become an Official Wizard at the end of my sixth year."

Andre began to recount his path as a Wizard.

"Six years? That fast?" Both Piedra and Sander’s eyes went wide, and they stared at Andre as if he were some kind of monster.

"After that, I spent over a year at a branch institute before my master brought me to the Main Institute."

"I stayed there until the expedition began. The journey from the Main Institute to this world took another eighteen years. After that, surveying the terrain, identifying the local races, and gathering intelligence took three more years. Add this past year, and all told, it should be twenty-six years."

When Andre finished, the shocked expressions on Sander and Piedra’s faces slowly faded, returning to normal.

They had seen plenty of people like Andre back at the institute—people who could be called geniuses.

But the gap between one genius and another could also be immense.

Some of those so-called geniuses would find their progress halted by the Truth after becoming an Official Wizard.

Only a small fraction, the peerless geniuses, could continue to advance unimpeded.

Andre was the first type of genius. Before becoming an Official Wizard, he had advanced at a stunning pace, but afterward, his progress was slowed by the Truth. Now, twenty-five years later, he was only just touching the threshold of a Level 2 Wizard.

Still, among ordinary geniuses, that was considered quite strong.
