Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 840 - 762: Ambush Setup (Part 2)A dozen breaths were enough for him to accomplish many things.
The three sets of witch arrays were completed, and Duke retreated to the cave entrance.
He raised his left hand, and the Yellow Sand Crystal glowed faintly.
Hundreds of dark golden sand streams surged from his body, quietly lurking on the cliffs on both sides of the valley.
The sand streams condensed into Sand Servants, each closely attached to the rock wall, merging with the stone.
Their aura was obscured by the Confusion Array Plate, making them indetectable from the outside.
After a final inspection, ensuring all setups were complete, Duke turned around and entered the cave.
Inside the entrance, he sat three steps away, leaning against the rock wall, closed his eyes, and his breathing gradually steadied.
It looked like he was resting, but his Spiritual Power continually enveloped the entire valley, every grain of sand was his eyes.
Two hours later, three figures appeared outside the valley.
Andre walked at the forefront, his true bloodline form had been retracted, returning to human shape, but his eyes were still crimson vertical pupils.
His complexion was poor, three days of pursuit had exhausted much of his physical and mental energy, the wounds on his body were only rudimentarily treated, blood stains remained on his Magic Robe.
Two Mechanical Wizards followed behind him, one holding a palm-sized metal disk engraved with dense runes, at its center was a suspended dark golden light spot, a remnant of Duke’s aura.
The light spot pulsed slowly, pointing towards the valley.
"He’s inside," the wizard holding the disk whispered.
Andre squinted his eyes, staring at the valley entrance.
From the outside, the valley’s terrain appeared strange; clearly the entrance was visible, yet the direction seemed wrong.
He stopped, raised his hand to signal those behind him to halt.
"Something’s off."
Another Mechanical Wizard stepped forward, took a fingernail-sized metal ball from his waist, and gently tossed it towards the valley entrance.
The metal ball silently exploded in mid-air, transforming into countless tiny light spots, drifting into the valley like a swarm of fireflies.
Moments later, the light spots drifted out of the valley, reconsolidated into a ball, and landed back in his hand. He closed his eyes sensing briefly, shook his head.
"No strange, powerful aura detected, but there might be an ambush, signs of witch arrays."
Andre remained silent for a moment, then stepped forward towards the valley entrance.
His intuition warned him, but he had no retreat.
The wizard with the Black Sail stole resources that should have belonged to him, a whole five thousand points.
This couldn’t just be let go, especially when their side had three elites, while the other only had one person.
Even if Duke was prepared, could the three of them possibly encounter a problem against one?
Furthermore, Andre’s Illusion Tower ranked fourth, while Duke was fifth; in terms of sheer power, Andre had slightly the upper hand.
Now, with the advantage in numbers, there was no need to fear Duke, Andre thought so.
He stepped into the valley entrance.
At that moment, the surroundings slightly distorted.
Andre blinked, and everything returned to normal.
The two Mechanical Wizards followed him inside, without sensing anything abnormal.
The valley was spacious, littered with rubble, overgrown with weeds.
On both sides, the cliffs were steep, barren, and devoid of anything.
At the valley’s bottom was a cave, its entrance small, inside pitch black.
Andre could feel the aura coming from inside the cave.
He quickened his pace, heading toward the valley’s bottom.
Just as he reached the center of the valley, the ground beneath suddenly collapsed.
Andre reacted swiftly, wings unfolding instantly, his form rose rapidly.
But the stone spikes emerging from underground weren’t aimed at him, but rather at the two Mechanical Wizards behind him.
One Mechanical Wizard retreated several steps when forced by the stone spikes, while the other had his arm sliced by the suddenly appearing Wind Blade.
As they were about to counterattack, countless ice shards shot from all directions, forcing them into a frantic scramble.
Suspended in mid-air, Andre’s wings flapped vigorously, shattering several incoming ice shards.
He lowered his gaze to the ground, a flicker of anger flashing in his eyes.
"Trap."
Before the words had fallen, a translucent energy barrier rose from the direction of the valley entrance, sealing the entire valley tightly.
The cliffs on both sides began to surge with countless dark golden sand streams, flowing like a tide from the cracks in the rocks.
In mid-air, the sand streams condensed into Sand Servants, densely occupying every vantage point.
Earth-yellow flames flickered in their eye sockets, gripping Sand Blades, silently surveying the three people in the valley.
Hundreds of them.
Andre’s pupils slightly contracted.
In the cave, Duke stood up and walked to the entrance.
He stood in the shadow of the entrance, surrounded by a stream of dark golden sand, looking calmly at the three people in the valley.
Andre landed back on the ground, and three faces appeared simultaneously.
The left face roared, the vertical eye on the right rotated, and the scarlet vertical pupil in the front stared fixedly at Duke.
"You knew we were chasing you all along."
Duke remained silent.
Andre snorted coldly, his wings suddenly spread, and he lunged at Duke.
His speed was astonishing, but even faster were those Sand Servants.
Dozens of Sand Servants leaped down from the cliff, blocking Duke, forming an impenetrable wall of sand.
Andre’s claws shredded three of them, but more surged in.
They had no emotions, no fear, only executing orders, draining him, trapping him, wearing him down.
The two Mechanical Wizards were also entangled by the Sand Servants.
Those Sand Servants were far less individually powerful than them, but they were too numerous.
Smash one, and two more would leap in.
Their sand blades struck his body; though they couldn’t pierce the scale armor and metal body, the feeling of being gnawed by ants was maddening to the extreme.
Andre’s wings violently flapped, shaking off the Sand Servants around him.
He wanted to charge at Duke, but more Sand Servants poured down the cliff, layer upon layer, flooding him like a tide.
He shredded one, and another pounced.
He knocked away ten, and twenty more surrounded him.
His breathing became heavier, and there were more and more scratches on his scale armor.
Those Sand Servants weren’t lethal, but their purpose was never to kill him.
They only wanted to exhaust his strength.
Duke stood at the cave entrance, still not making a move.
He just watched quietly, watching Andre struggle in the sea of sand, watching the two Mechanical Wizards being forced to retreat steadily.
He still had plenty of Sand Servants.
Andre struggled in the sand sea, flapping his wings continuously, shaking off the Sand Servants pouncing on him.
His scale armor was already covered with dense scratches, blood oozing from wounds, dripping mixed with sweat onto the ground.
The situation for the two Mechanical Wizards was even worse.
The Wizard controlling the metal wires was entangled by Sand Servants on both legs, the wires twisted into a mess in the sand, unable to be retrieved.
The other melee Wizard already had three of the metal blades on his arms broken, arcs of electricity roamed erratically in the air, unable to harm those lifeless grains of sand.
Andre punched and shattered a Sand Servant lunging at him, panting as he lifted his head to the figure standing in the shadow at the cave entrance.
Duke still didn’t move, just quietly watching them, like watching a play unrelated to himself.
Andre gritted his teeth, his wings suddenly spread wide, shaking off all the Sand Servants around him.
He charged at Duke, his claws tearing the air, but then he stopped.
The ground was shaking.
Stones rustled down from the cliff, the ground’s cracks widening, the entire valley trembling.
Andre raised his head, his pupils suddenly contracted.
The mountain behind Duke was splitting open.
Countless dark golden sand streams surged from the mountain’s cracks, like roaring dragons, tearing the entire mountain apart from within.
Rocks shattered, dust flying, an immense figure rose slowly from the mountain.
First, the head, no features, only a pair of eye sockets burning with earth-yellow flames.
Then the shoulders, so broad they obscured half the sky.
Finally, the chest, arms, torso... It broke free from the mountain, rocks pouring down from it like a waterfall.
Three hundred meters.
Giant Divine Soldier.
It stood in the valley, its head nearly touching the sky.
Its body filled the entire valley to the brim, its shoulders forcibly splitting the cliff’s sides, stones and dust spraying from the cracks.
The Demon God lowered its head, its flame-burning eye sockets peering down at the three insignificant figures in the center of the valley.
