Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 896 - 790: Child of Light (2)There were no scars on his face, but his eyes were as sharp as a hawk’s, and his gaze swept over the Light Sect’s ranks, stopping on Knight Henry.
Standing in the center of the open ground, his hands clasped behind his back, his voice was deep and powerful: "Light Sect, who among you will fight?"
Henry’s face darkened, clenching the sword hilt so tightly that his knuckles turned white, he was about to step forward when a hand pressed on his shoulder.
He turned his head to see Duke standing behind him, the white robe shining softly in the sunlight.
"I’ll go." Duke’s voice was soft.
Henry was taken aback: "Your Grace Duke..."
Duke did not explain, walking past him towards the center of the open ground.
His steps were unhurried, the white robe gently swayed in the morning breeze, the golden sun patterns on its hem shimmering in the light.
He did not ride a horse, wore no armor, and carried no weapons, just walking alone to the open ground.
The people of the Four Gods Sect were all taken aback simultaneously.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect stared at Duke, his brows knitted tightly.
"Who are you? Where is the knight of the Light Sect? Sending a nobody to their death?" His voice carried disdain, but also a hint of barely noticeable caution.
Duke stopped, standing in the center of the open ground, about thirty steps away from the Magic Master of the Fire Sect.
He did not speak, only quietly watching the other.
The leaders of the Wind Sect, Water Sect, and Earth Sect exchanged glances, a trace of doubt flickering in their eyes.
They knew Duke as a wandering mage, how could he represent the Light Sect in battle, and what was the Light Sect planning?
"He’s not from the Light Sect!" The Magic Master’s voice of the Fire Sect rose several degrees, "According to the rules, the fighter must be an official member of the sect. An outsider with an uncertain background has no qualification to represent the Light Sect!"
Dali stepped out from the ranks, standing just behind Duke, her voice not loud, but clear enough to reach everyone’s ears.
"His name is Duke, the Child of Light of the Light Sect."
The open ground fell into silence, and the people of the Four Gods Sect were all stunned simultaneously.
"Child of Light?" The Magic Master of the Fire Sect frowned slightly, "Since when did the Light Sect have a Child of Light? How come we didn’t know?"
Dali didn’t answer, she only stepped back, leaving the field entirely to Duke.
Duke raised his right hand, spreading his fingers.
His movement was light, as if stroking something invisible. But at the moment he raised his hand, changes appeared in the surrounding air.
Countless tiny points of light gathered from all directions, like fireflies, like stars, like countless tiny elves, converging above his palm.
Those light points grew denser and brighter, enveloping him in a gentle glow.
Advanced light attribute affinity.
In this plane, there were few mages who could achieve this.
Light attribute energy particles are the hardest to manipulate among all elements; they are swift, light, and elusive.
But in Duke’s hands, they seemed like the most obedient subjects, moving with his will.
His body began to glow, not with magic light, but the light elemental particles spontaneously converging towards him, turning him into a figure of light.
Duke’s silhouette blurred in the glow, but his eyes remained clear, as calm as a deep pool.
The Magic Masters of the Four Gods Sect’s faces changed drastically, they sensed that the flow of those light elemental particles wasn’t the result of magic spells but something deeper.
This is the light attribute affinity, representing the elements themselves submitting to this person.
This ability isn’t achieved through hard training; it’s talent, it’s bloodline, the identity of the Child of Light need not be further proven.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect opened his mouth, wanting to say something but found himself unable to speak.
He wanted to question it, but the light elemental particles were right in front of him, undeniable.
He wanted to refute it, but the identity of the Child of Light had special significance in this plane.
This wasn’t self-proclaimed; it was chosen by the God of Light.
A person chosen by the God of Light representing the Light Sect in battle was only natural.
The four exchanged glances, seeing the same thing in each other’s eyes, unease.
Their spies within the Light Sect had not passed on any information about the Child of Light.
This showed that this matter was extremely secret within the Light Sect, with no more than three people knowing about it.
Bishop Ambrose, Holy Daughter Dali, perhaps that young Knight Henry.
No one else knew.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect took a deep breath, turning to look at Duke.
His gaze lingered on Duke for a long time, his sharp eyes now bearing a hint of apprehension.
"Child of Light." He uttered this title as if savoring something, "Good, very good."
Duke lowered his right hand, and the surrounding glow gradually dissipated.
He still stood in the center of the open ground, the white robe gently swayed in the morning breeze, the golden sun patterns shimmering in the sunlight.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect looked at him, remained silent for a few breaths, then turned back to his camp.
He no longer questioned or opposed.
The identity of the Child of Light had already left him speechless.
The leaders of the other three sects also gradually returned to their respective camps.
The open ground was silent, with only the flags fluttering in the morning breeze.
The people of the Four Gods Sect were all watching that white-robed young man, watching his silhouette in the sunlight.
They did not know his strength, did not know his background, did not know why he suddenly appeared here.
But they knew, from today onwards, the structure of the Oracle Plane might change.
Dali stood behind Duke, her golden hair gently swaying in the morning breeze, her hands folded in front, her gaze calm and resolute.
Henry stood at the front of the ranks, his fingers trembling slightly as they grasped the sword hilt.
He looked at Duke’s back, at the figure enveloped in light, his throat dry, unable to utter a word.
The knights around him were also silent, their eyes filled with shock.
The mages clutched their magic wands, their knuckles white, lips moving, but no sound escaped.
The warriors bowed their heads, not daring to look directly at that light.
The people of the Light Sect felt it more strongly; they could clearly sense that Duke seemed to have become the center of all light attribute energy in this place.
At this point, no one would question Duke’s identity as the Child of Light.
After the Magic Master of the Fire Sect returned to his camp, he and the leaders of the other three sects held a brief, low-voiced discussion.
Then he walked back to the center of the open ground, standing about thirty steps across from Duke.
"Child of Light." His voice was deep, carrying a suppressed anger, "Since you represent the Light Sect in battle, let’s follow the rules, one match to decide the victor."
Duke looked at him, not answering immediately.
He stood there, the white robe with golden edges swaying lightly in the morning breeze, sunlight coating his outline with a pale golden hue.
Duke’s gaze moved from the Magic Master of the Fire Sect to the leaders of the Wind, Water, and Earth Sects, finally returning to meet the eyes of the one opposite him.
"According to the rules," Duke’s voice was not loud but very clear, "the loser withdraws from the contention for Stone Hammer City interests. You fight alone, if you lose, the Fire Sect withdraws from Stone Hammer City. What about the other three sects? They’re still in. One leaves today, another comes tomorrow, do I have to fight you four times?"
The Magic Master’s face of the Fire Sect darkened. "What do you mean?"
Duke’s tone remained calm: "I mean, one match to decide the victor, not one match to decide one sect’s victor, but one match to decide the four sects’ victors. Each of your four sects sends one person, come at me together. If I win, the entire Four Gods Sect withdraws from Stone Hammer City. If I lose, the Light Sect will never set foot in Stone Hammer City again."
At these words, the open ground immediately fell silent.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect was stunned, opening his mouth to speak but didn’t know what to say.
