The spectators around the battle exploded with chatter, all looking at each other in disbelief, many whispering and talking under their breath.
The itinerant merchants, residents, mercenaries who came from Stone Hammer City, along with a few scattered players, were all in an uproar.
One player shouted loudly, "Damn, who is this guy? So arrogant?"
Another player said, "Child of Light, didn’t you hear the Holy Daughter say that?"
Another player shook their head, "Even if he’s the Child of Light, he can’t be this arrogant, right? One against four? The opponents are all at Mage Level!"
The Four Gods Sect’s faction was even more tumultuous, the priests from the Fire Sect were flushed with anger, and some even drew their weapons.
The priests from the Wind Sect were whispering, occasionally looking up at Duke, eyes filled with rage. The priests from the Water Sect looked serious, silently watching. The priests from the Earth Sect clenched their fists, gritting their teeth.
This was a blatant humiliation for them; the Child of Light was so arrogant, causing instant collective outrage.
The members of the Four Gods Sect wished they could all rush in together, completely overwhelm Duke and tear him into pieces.
The Magic Master of the Fire Sect took a deep breath, suppressing the anger in his heart.
He glared at Duke, his voice squeezed out through clenched teeth, "Child of Light, do you know what you’re saying?"
Duke looked at him, his gaze calm, "I know. You four, come at me together. If I win, the Four Gods Sect withdraws from Stone Hammer City. If I lose, the Light Sect will never set foot in Stone Hammer City again."
The Magic Master’s face turned red; he was a Magic Master, a Level 2 Mage, held in high regard within the Four Gods Sect, never having been so belittled.
At this point, the Four Gods Sect really had no retreat; rejection was not an option. Duke had already laid it out clearly.
To refuse would be to show weakness, to admit that the Four Gods Sect was inferior to the Light Sect, to let everyone present see their cowardice.
He turned his head and looked at the leaders of the other three sects.
The gaunt middle-aged man from the Wind Sect gritted his teeth and nodded, while the middle-aged witch from the Water Sect paused in silence, then nodded as well.
The elder from the Earth Sect looked at Duke for a long moment before finally accepting Duke’s resolution.
The Magic Master from the Fire Sect turned his head, staring at Duke, "Fine. Since you want to die, we’ll accommodate you."
He raised his right hand, the flame in his palm reformed, more intense than before.
The gaunt middle-aged man from the Wind Sect moved to his flank, his magic wand surrounded by a blue-green airflow.
The middle-aged witch from the Water Sect moved to the other side, a blue water ball forming at the top of her wand.
The elder from the Earth Sect was at the rear, a brown rock spike forming at the top of his wand, ready to strike.
Four Magic Masters, four elements, four energies, simultaneously locked onto Duke.
The air on the open ground solidified, the crowd watching involuntarily retreated to a safer distance.
Duke looked calmly at the four Magic Masters readying on the opposite side, his heart exceptionally still.
He was here not only to compete for Stone Hammer City to expand the Light Sect’s influence but also to probe the power of Level 2 Life in this Plane, and further observe and study the differences between Curse Magic and the Wizard Plane’s magic system.
The Fire Sect’s Magic Master was the first to strike, chanting a series of rapid syllables, causing the scarlet flame in his palm to explode violently, transforming into three head-sized fireballs flying towards Duke in a triangular formation.
The fireballs were swift, trailing scorching waves of air, leaving a distorted trail in their wake.
Duke did not take them head-on; as the fireballs approached, his figure blurred, seemingly merging into the light.
This was his semi-Light Elementalization form, hovering between tangible and light element, slower than pure Light Elementalization but far quicker than corporeal movement.
His body flickered rapidly between reality and void as he passed through the gaps between the three fireballs, which then crashed into the empty ground behind him, leaving three charred shallow pits.
Without glancing back, Duke’s feet kept moving, leaving a series of faint footprints on the grass as he rushed towards the Fire Sect’s Magic Master.
The gaunt middle-aged man from the Wind Sect reacted quickly, waving his wand to send multiple blue wind blades slicing towards Duke from different angles.
Wind blades traveled faster than fireballs, nearly arriving the moment they left the hand.
Duke’s pupils slightly contracted as his body abruptly shifted mid-air, narrowly avoiding a wind blade that grazed his shoulder, tearing the sleeve of his white robe.
Another wind blade sliced towards his waist and abdomen, but he raised his left arm to intercept.
A dull metallic clash resounded, as the wind blade exploded upon Duke’s arm, dispersing into chaotic currents.
The sleeve of his robe was torn open, revealing the skin beneath, a fleeting dark golden sheen—no blood, no wound.
Elemental Holy Body Tier Three’s strength, Level 2 wind blade—couldn’t even scratch his skin.
The gaunt middle-aged man’s pupils shrank, having seen people block wind blades with Magic Shields or armor forged from Magic Metal, but never witness anyone physically intercept them.
This level of physical durability, likely rivaling that of the strongest Magical Beasts.
His fingers trembled slightly, the green glow of his wand dimming somewhat.
Duke did not pause, continuing forward, leaving a trail of ethereal images on the grass.
The middle-aged witch from the Water Sect also attacked, her chanting light, yet the power of her magic was profoundly formidable.
