Once Marie confirmed the creature’s level from the blue crystal core on its head, she immediately shouted to Nicolas.

"Fire the rocket launchers!"

The man was already prepared, as he was only waiting for her command.

Not even five seconds after she spoke, four rockets tore through the air, all aimed at the Tier Two mutated deer.

The beast, now taller than an elephant, raised its head and looked at the attack with wariness. It had seen how these unfamiliar clumps of metal had killed Tier One beasts earlier.

Still, it wasn’t scared. The horns lit up with a bright azure glow, and the four rockets were drawn toward them.

Boom!

An explosion occurred, but it was clearly not what the humans were expecting. The energy from the explosion was easily contained between its antlers as a sphere of violet energy.

Marie’s heart sank, and she realized what had happened.

’It’s going to redirect it...’ She clenched her jaw, then broke into a wide grin. ’Looks like this might be a good thing for me.’

She took a deep breath, then said to Emily. "I might be out for a while after dealing with this threat. You guys better hold the line properly."

Emily and Jones were confused, but they didn’t have time to think. They simply nodded and turned their attention back to the Tier Two deer. At this point, every other beast had backed away, not wanting to be caught up in the deer’s attack.

Marie stepped forward, placing herself between the human army and the deer.

Its eyes immediately locked on her, then flashed with contempt. This human wanted to take its attack?

Fine!

It immediately changed its target from the walls to the weak woman before it, then fired the fueled attack between its horns.

Marie immediately hoisted up her shield and activated its only enchantment.

[Enchantment: Can repel any single attack of any magnitude at the expense of 100 Stamina points and 50 Mana points. Cooldown is 24 hours]

This was Marie’s gamble, and it would surely put her out of action once she was done.

The thick sphere of destructive energy shot towards her at blinding speed, then slammed against her shield.

Marie’s eyes widened as she involuntarily spat out a mouthful of blood. Her bones cracked instantly, and she knew she wouldn’t last.

So, without delay, she reflected the attack.

A mirror-like sheen covered the shield, and the sphere of destructive energy was launched back at an even greater speed.

The Tier Two deer was caught off guard, and that moment of hesitation proved fatal. Stunned, it reacted too late.

The concentrated sphere slammed into its torso, then drilled through it.

BOOM!

The beast exploded, splashing the surrounding beasts with blood. Seeing a Tier Two beast get killed like that, many beasts let out sharp roars and fled back towards the forest. They knew when to retreat and when to press.

Unfortunately, not all of them left. Some were too interested in the weak humans to care. They simply wanted to feast properly.

Marie spat another mouthful of blood, staggering backwards with a pale face.

[You have slain a Level 57 Tier Two Evolved Antler King!]

[You cannot level up!]

[Progress has been stored!]

The messages didn’t stop there. One more came, making her give a bloodstained smile.

[You have completed all your evolution requirements!]

[You are now ready to evolve!]

Emily immediately came forward to support her, helping her to retreat behind the human lines. With the Tier Two threat dealt with, the evolvers were fired up.

They immediately began to launch attacks on the remaining beasts that hadn’t fled, treating them as mobs. Meanwhile, once she was pulled back into the safe zone, Marie fell unconscious, her aura flaring.

Her evolution process had started.

...

Meanwhile, deep in the forest, Thyra finally set down the two unconscious humans in a well-hidden cave. The beasts inhabiting the cave had fled a while ago, startled by the explosion.

Once she dropped them, Thyra looked up at the sky.

A deep-red bolt of lightning was already converging above her, and she smiled bitterly.

Even as a ghost, the Star Stream wasn’t going to let her off easily. She already expected this when she decided to save Leon and Selene, and she was ready for it.

Glancing at Leon’s face that was etched with a tight frown, she shook her head and snorted.

"Brat, you better treat me well when I recover."

The next moment, her ghostly figure was consumed by a single beam of red lightning.

Her face turned pale immediately, and she felt her power plummeting sharply until she could no longer maintain her corporeal form.

After a full minute, the lightning receded, leaving a simple orb of light. The orb floated towards Leon, then sank into his chest.

Then, the cave fell back into quietness for almost an hour.

Suddenly, Selene’s fingers twitched, and her brows creased. A pained groan escaped her lips as she slowly stirred awake.

’Where... what happened?’

Her eyes scanned her surroundings, and only then did she realize she was in a cave with Leon.

From what she remembered, Leon had unleashed a devastating attack that its sound alone had knocked her unconscious.

’Did he bring us here?’

Her attention was immediately focused on him, and seeing his pale face, concern immediately filled her.

’That blast—what kind of attack was that?’

She didn’t know, but she was well aware that the attack must have drained him a lot. That was when she noticed something else.

’This guy... he’s evolving!’

Her expression changed rapidly, eventually settling into a resigned sigh. She wasn’t expecting to make it out alive after seeing his attack, but unexpectedly, she had.

’You better wake up quickly. I’m not sure this place is safe.’

Pursing her lips, she helped him into a comfortable position, with his head resting on a smooth stone slab. Then, she sat beside him.

Once she was fully settled, her attention was drawn to a message that appeared before her eyes.

[You have slain a Level 60 Tier Two Evolved Chief Ape! +21 Strength points gained!]

[You have leveled up to...]

[You have leveled up to...]

[You have leveled up to Level 50! +33 Stat points gained!]

[Your evolution requirements have been prepared]

Seeing the last message, Selene’s lips twitched. So soon? She had only evolved yesterday.
