The room froze, and almost everyone looked at Leon like a madman. An independent state? In America?

Even his own direct subordinates were stunned. Marie’s lips were parted slightly in shock, while Miguel had a grave expression on his face.

Fel’s eyes trembled as she grew nervous. What Leon had just declared was dangerous and would bring him a lot of trouble. She was deeply worried.

Cassie’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes narrowed slightly. Meanwhile, Richard scratched his head in confusion, wondering why everyone was shocked. Was it really that shocking?

Leon glanced at Reymond, noticing the slight frown on his face. The young man’s family was deeply involved in politics, so it was natural that this declaration wouldn’t sit well with him.

Still, he didn’t say anything yet.

Selene looked as indifferent as ever, not offering a single reaction to his words. She merely looked at him for a few seconds, then looked away.

On the other hand, Gwen had a small smile on her face, feeling a sense of pride. Her plans were already coming to fruition, and this was only the first step.

Leon tapped the table, silencing the murmurs in the hall. Then, he spoke.

"I understand that this is shocking and difficult for you to digest. I won’t force anyone to stay here and remain under my banner."

His black eyes gleamed strangely as he looked at them.

"If you do not wish to be part of the Eternal Night City, you may pack your things and leave quietly. You only have today."

The meeting hall fell silent, then someone exploded with rage.

A pot-bellied official wearing a neat, expensive suit stood up and slammed his hand onto the table.

"Brat! What bullshit are you spouting? The world is currently in turmoil and what you want is to rule your own little kingdom?"

Someone else stood up. A woman who seemed to have a permanent scowl on her face.

"This is why I don’t like the youths of today, always so brash and willful. Do you think just because you have power now, you have become a god?"

With the two people speaking, more began to voice out their complaints too.

"Yeah, you can’t just say things like that. You’re being ungrateful to the government."

"It’s basically treason, you know? You’ll just get yourself killed."

"Honestly, I didn’t expect much from a kid anyway. Give them power and they start abusing it."

"Trash! I knew he’d be trash! What kind of leader doesn’t even pay respect to the people helping him manage this place?"

"Ptui! I’ll make sure to post this online and have the government know of your stupid plans."

None of them held back at all while insulting him, and even the members of the main group.

Selene’s gaze turned cold, but when she noticed that Leon hadn’t said a word, she closed her eyes.

Gwen’s face was dark, and she was trembling with anger. These were the people who had laughed with her over the past few days, complimenting her and praising her. Now, they didn’t even hesitate to badmouth Leon and say harsh words to those around him.

Leon glanced at her, then gently held her hand under the table.

Gwen turned to look at him in surprise, but he said nothing. Instead, he kept looking at the rioting people with a faint smile.

They continued speaking for about five minutes, then the chaos subsided. One after the other, they stopped talking, gripped with unease.

Once the hall was quiet again, Leon sighed dramatically.

"Haa... what a horrid commotion caused by ingrates."

He shook his head, his expression sympathetic.

"I never said you weren’t allowed to disagree with me. If you believe the Eternal Night City is a foolish idea, you’re free to leave. I already gave you that choice."

His smile disappeared.

"But instead of leaving, you chose to stand here and insult me. You insulted the people who built this place, threatened to expose us to the government, and complained about the very protection that kept you alive."

The hall fell silent. Leon’s black eyes swept across them coldly.

"You don’t want to follow me. Fine. You don’t want to stay here. Fine."

His gaze hardened.

"But if you stay under my protection while openly threatening the people under my command, then you’re no longer merely dissenters."

"You’re parasites," He spat, his voice thick with disgust. "Darkness Descent."

The meeting hall was suddenly swallowed in thick darkness. Selene’s eyes narrowed, but she failed to see anything. No one could.

A few seconds later, the impenetrable darkness vanished like a lie.

Everyone else froze.

The officials who had been shouting moments ago were now sitting motionless in their chairs. Some had slumped against the table. Others simply rested against their seats, their eyes closed as though they had fallen asleep. There wasn’t a single wound on their bodies, but they were dead.

Leon opened his eyes and calmly glanced around the room.

A series of notifications appeared before him, but he dismissed them without even reading them.

Ignoring the corpses, he looked towards the rest.

"As I said earlier, I’ll give you one day to pack your things and leave quietly. If you remain out of fear, know that I will still kill you on the day you betray me."

Several of the remaining officials trembled, and four of them stood up.

"I’m backing out, Leader. I don’t want trouble for my family. Please understand."

The middle-aged man bowed deeply, followed by the others.

Leon nodded, then waved them off. "You can excuse yourself now."

They all trembled, but hurried out of the meeting hall. They didn’t want to die.

Leon looked at the remaining officials who hadn’t moved, then cleared his throat.

"You all are staying, I see." He turned to Cassie. "Please, remove the bodies from here."

Cassie stood up without a word and began to drag the dead officials out of the hall without care. In a few minutes, she was done and returned to her seat.

Leon nodded slightly, then glanced at Gwen. Upon receiving the signal, she held a file and stood up, drawing everyone’s attention to her.

With a calm expression, she said, "Just like every established country or faction, Eternal Night City will officially establish its Noble Hierarchy."

"The title you receive represents your contribution to the camp. It is not hereditary, nor is it permanent. Serve the camp well, and you will be rewarded. Betray it, and everything will be stripped away. Everyone is replaceable except the leader.

Her gaze was cold as she said that last sentence, letting them all understand the gravity of her words.

There were no objections.
