World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 224: Second Tier Two KillLeon’s eyes narrowed as he rapidly shot back, zigzagging his way around the bear. Earth spikes shot out from the ground, barely missing him every time he moved.
He danced around the mutated beast, intentionally pulling its attention away from the others.
After just a single clash with the bear, he realized it was far stronger than the one Richard had killed. It was also more intelligent, being able to predict where he would land and set traps ahead of time.
’And it seems it’s a female, huh? So a sow... wait. Pun unintended.’
He chuckled inwardly, his steps quick and light as several earth spikes tried to catch him.
After a full minute, the bear finally realized it wouldn’t be able to catch him this way, so it changed tactics.
It dug its claws into the ground, then charged at him.
Seeing this, Leon also stopped running and charged at it. This would be his third time fighting a Tier Two creature, and he was determined to kill this one.
Weng~!
The Titanbreaker Spear shot straight toward the bear’s head, aimed at ending the fight in a single strike.
Roar!
The bear roared and parried his spear with its claws. Meanwhile, its large, dreadful jaw snapped down at him for a clean, vicious bite.
Leon leaned to the side, allowing the momentum of the parry to pull him. The bear’s canines grazed his side, but missed him entirely.
Using the spear as a vaulting pole, Leon vaulted over its head, landing on the hard armor protecting it.
Before the beast could shake him off, he stabbed his weapon into its back.
Bang! Crack!
Once again, the armor failed to block the spear and was shattered.
The bear roared in pain, stumbling forward as it felt the cold, dark blade press against its spine.
Leon was about to press deeper when he sensed danger and kicked off its back. Two sharp spikes shot out a split second later, narrowly missing him.
’As expected. Smart creatures are hard to kill.’
He thought with a frown. His injured side still stung. After all, he had no standard armor on him except the usual black combat gear.
’Tch.’ He clicked his tongue and charged at the bear again.
This time, he wasn’t going to play fair.
He ducked under the bear’s sharp claws, then stabbed the shadow of one of its hind legs.
The bear froze, its leg stiffening as it spasmed. Then, it roared in pain.
Leon almost felt a pang of sympathy for it, as he understood that it must be thoroughly confused and in deep agony at the moment.
He didn’t have time to even feel sympathy, though.
Before he could retreat safely, the bear whacked him with a paw, nearly crushing him.
Thankfully, he blocked with the shaft of his spear, letting the force of the blow send him flying backward.
He rolled to his feet without pausing, then used Shadow Teleportation to arrive beside the bear.
It was stunned by his sudden reappearance, and before it could react, Leon plunged the spear into the shadow of its torso.
ROARRR!!!
The mutated bear let out a sorrowful, pained cry as it stumbled. A searing pain erupted in its chest, and it could feel its strength rapidly fading.
What Leon had attacked wasn’t merely its shadow. His attack had reached the soul too, dealing an injury far worse than any physical one.
This was why even the mutated tree had fallen to Shadow Execution.
Leon pulled out his spear, watching the earthen armor dissolve as the bear lost its capability to keep using it.
Without pausing, Leon activated Mental Dominion, further worsening its state of mind. Already flooded with pain from its soul, the beast could only groan and fall to the ground when another crushing pressure assaulted its mind.
If it had been at the beginning of the fight, Leon wouldn’t have tried using the ability, as he knew it wasn’t exactly going to help him beat a Tier Two creature.
Against creatures far stronger than he was, it was almost useless.
However, given the grizzly bear’s current condition, it could be used.
Using his spear, Leon pinned the bear to the ground, but didn’t kill it.
He hurriedly called for Miguel.
"Crush its head. The kill is yours."
Although Leon knew the Star Stream was going to share its Origin according to their contribution, he still wanted Miguel to deal the killing blow. Also, he had already contributed more than enough to the battle. There was no reason for him to take the final blow when Miguel was so close to leveling up.
Although puzzled, the blonde guy didn’t hesitate. He raised his hammer and brought it down on the dazed bear’s head with full strength.
BAM!!!
The bear’s skull cracked, and it died from the crushing blow.
[You have slain a Level 57 Tier Two Mutated Grizzly Bear! +4 Strength points gained!]
[You have leveled up to Level 49! +11 Stat points gained!]
Miguel blinked and turned to Leon. "I leveled up."
Leon nodded, already expecting that. Using his spear, he pried out the soul crystal and stored it. Then, he called the others to come closer.
"Have your tamed beasts eat this. It should push them closer to Tier Two," He said to Richard who immediately nodded.
However, instead of letting all the beasts feed, he only sent Little West forward.
"Why?" Leon looked at him.
Adjusting his glasses over his nose, Richard replied, "Little West is the closest to Tier Two. If I let them all keep eating and they become Tier Two before I do, I might not be able to control them all."
"Oh? I see... that makes sense," Leon said, nodding.
He looked at the remaining beasts and couldn’t help but imagine how fearsome they would be once they reached Tier Two.
’That means pushing Richard to Tier Two is part of my priorities now.’
After all, if Richard reached Tier Two, he would be able to officially tame the mutated crocodile and other beasts, further boosting the overall power of their group.
’We still have some time before the journey starts. We’ll make proper use of most of it.’
The black mutated cat ate what it could from the bear’s corpse, then stopped once it was full.
Leon kept the rest of the corpse in his storage ring. Not because he wanted to have a bite, but because he was interested in the bear’s ability.
"Alright, let’s move. We’re hunting for more Tier Two beasts."
The group of humans and mutated beasts moved, scouring the forest for another target.
